I was able to sneak out the other night after getting the kids to sleep and ran into a new PB! 6lbs 3oz at a little lake by my house. I found an offshore weedline in about 10ft of water on my portable

Kinda rough weather in northern IL today but I've been on this 3-day weather pattern the last couple weeks (fishing the 3rd day of warm day/warmish night trend) and today is the target day. I decided

J-Bones, yeah I've spent a bunch of time on the river. Yes, it is pretty dirty. There is some junk in there. Don't go out after the rain and if you are careful its fine.

Yeah, there isn't anything you can do about the ignorant boaters, but lets face it they are everywhere. Just becareful of the big ones coming off the big lake.

As far as size goes there are some decent ones out there and you can find a bunch of little ones sometimes too.

I don't sign on too much because of school now but send me a PM if I can help or maybe we can go hit it in the spring.

Chicago here. I'm really hoping to get a boat this year but it seems there isn't many lakes that you can fish 100hp and up boats in. Any lakes you guys know of in the Chicagoland area? All the ones I know about are in WI and the chain in Antioch.

Cooling lakes in the joliet area (braidwood, heidecki, lasalle) cedar lake in indiana and vermillion in danville which is a hike.

    Lake Michigan, Smallmouth bass

Central Illinois here, Galesburg area to be more specific.  Mainly fish Oak Run, Snake Den, and the Mississippi.

My first boat trip will be Lake Toho Fl. at the end of the month. First Il. boat trip will be Lasalle. From what I hear March 17 will be opening day. I will probably be there that following weekend for the 3 hr wait in line. Last year at the opener I was the last boat that launched before they closed the parking lot. We ended up with about 50-60 bass with my son getting his PB at about 5lbs.

powerton has no hp limit... what do you mean??

got my new electronics installed yesterday (humminbird 997c si) can't wait to test out the side imaging....... less than a week away before the boat sees the light of day!!

Please forgive me, had a brain fart there.  I was thinking newton with the hp restriction.

I am good on any lake that lets gas power boats on with my little 3.5hp monster! lol

LOL.  I start to wish my boat had a 3.5 on it.  3/4's of the d**n lakes in IL have a 10 hp restriction on it.  They discriminate against my one fitty.

That 10hp restriction is definitely annoying.

Instead of the hp restriction they should make all those lakes "no wake"

Or put a speed limit.  Braidwood and heidecke are both 40mph
