bassdocktor Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 J-Bones, yeah I've spent a bunch of time on the river. Yes, it is pretty dirty. There is some junk in there. Don't go out after the rain and if you are careful its fine. Yeah, there isn't anything you can do about the ignorant boaters, but lets face it they are everywhere. Just becareful of the big ones coming off the big lake. As far as size goes there are some decent ones out there and you can find a bunch of little ones sometimes too. I don't sign on too much because of school now but send me a PM if I can help or maybe we can go hit it in the spring. Quote
SPAZ Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Chicago here. I'm really hoping to get a boat this year but it seems there isn't many lakes that you can fish 100hp and up boats in. Any lakes you guys know of in the Chicagoland area? All the ones I know about are in WI and the chain in Antioch. Quote

Super User slonezp Posted February 9, 2010 Super User Posted February 9, 2010 Have any of you fished the Illinois or kankakee rivers? What is your first boat trip planned in IL? My first boat trip will be Lake Toho Fl. at the end of the month. First Il. boat trip will be Lasalle. From what I hear March 17 will be opening day. I will probably be there that following weekend for the 3 hr wait in line. Last year at the opener I was the last boat that launched before they closed the parking lot. We ended up with about 50-60 bass with my son getting his PB at about 5lbs. Quote

Please forgive me, had a brain fart there. I was thinking newton with the hp restriction. Quote
bwell Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I am good on any lake that lets gas power boats on with my little 3.5hp monster! lol Quote
j-bones Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 LOL. I start to wish my boat had a 3.5 on it. 3/4's of the d**n lakes in IL have a 10 hp restriction on it. They discriminate against my one fitty. Quote

Braidwood and heidecke are both 40mph Quote
