What is Your Best Topwater Crankbait?

Featured Replies

I'd like to hear what is your favorite topwater crankbait. I'd also like to know what newer topwater crankbait you've tried and had very poor results with. The LC Sammy has been a great lure for me from the 1st day that I used it. I've also tried the LC B-MH Topwater Buzzbait but have never had much success with it. This year I plan on trying the Cavitron buzzbait. I also saw the Megabass Anthrax topwater crankbait. I've never seen a lure like this one and would like to hear from anyone who has used it. Any good?

my favorite topwater hard bait is the Arbogast Jitterbug. Just so much fun to fish.  But i also throw Rapala Skitter Walks, Strike King Spit'n King, and Strike King Double Take Buzz Baits

Pumpkinseed colored Spittin Image is my favorite topwater plug.

Spotremover colored Wareagle is my favorite buzzbait.

I tend to think of topwaters and crankbaits as two separate things. Not getting in your face, mind you. But I think I know where you're going with this.

There are a bunch of great topwater baits. If I had to pick one favorite, today I'll say a Spook. Tomorrow I might say something different.

Spook, Pop-R, Skitter-Pop, Jitterbug, Spit-N-Image, Frogs, Buzzbaits, Heddon Torpedo, and more. I fish the original floating Rapala as a topwater, with twitches and pauses. A 3X tube, with no weight is a good topwater bait for weeds and brush.

What did I say my favorite was?

Cheers,

GK

It might have been a mistake...how about favorite topwater bait (and drop the crank) and the newest one you've tried that you would not recommend. Sorry for the confusion.

Tiny torpedo

Jitterbug

LC G-Splash 65

LC Gunnish 95

These work the best for me.

for numbers of fish id say a pop-r  and a toss up between a chug bug and a rapala j-11 for big bass

1. Cavitron Buzzbait, White/chart.

2. LC G-Splash, Ghost minnow

3. LC Sammy 100, American Shad

4. Mann's 1-, Ghost minnow

5. Smithwick Devil's Horse, yellow/black back

I've had a black Jitterbug and a Hulapopper in my box for the last 15 years at least.

Home-made buzzbait and a Storm Chug Bug.    ;)

Poppers and chuggers are FAR from crankbaits!

Jackall Mudsucker, Lucky Craft Sammy and Gunfish. Very easy to walk the dog with these lures!

I love the storm chug bug. Pop it, spit it, or walk it that  topwater can do it all.  I also love me some booyah pond buzzbaits or the strike king double take.  The chug bug though is my number 1 without a doubt.
