All Purpose Cranking Rod???
You're welcome ww2farmer. I hope the rod works out for you and you find it as versatile as I do. Please let us know how you like it if you do indeed go that direction.

All Purpose Cranking Rod???
I have the 7'4" mojo glass rod and have thrown many different baits with it. I have used it for strike king series 5 and 6 cranks, 1/4 cranks from cabelas and lure jensen, chatterbaits, red eye shad and many others with good results from all. I have never thrown a 6XD, but have absolutely no trouble throwing the series 6 cranks which are 3/4 ounce. I like the feel of the glass rod and have no problems at all detecting bites. I usually use 12 lb big game mono with this rod so if you were to use braid, most likely you would experience increased sensitivity. I have paired the rod with both a shimano curado E5 and a Citica 200E7 and like the feel with both. I am a weekend fisherman, and am maybe not as exacting with my equipment as a tournament fisherman would be, but I certainly have not complaints about this rod. Also, I have heard a lot of people complain about this rod being tip heavy, I spend most of the time with the rod tip down so I also don't have a problem with that.

Excellent tip...and don't have to worry about going to Walmart. My wife does nails for a living. I can them wholesale!

Some Names And Company Slogans
That is FUNNY! My vote for the winner as well.

Lure Painters/builders
To follow up on my last post....I think many times the lure companies are more worried about catching the fisherman than the fish. I also think it would be a great feeling of accomplishment to catch fish on lures I have made/painted.

Lure Painters/builders
Thanks for the input, Fishwhittler. I guess my big question would be...do the more expensive lures catch more/bigger fish? I have read many posts about the "quality" of lucky craft for example...yet I catch lots of fish with cabelas crankbaits...that I paid a buck or two for. I am somewhat inexperienced regarding high dollar baits...only have a few lucky craft pointers, lvrs, and a couple sebile flat shads so I can not really say that they catch more fish or not. However, I do know that the fish will gobble the red eye shad, the cabelas grave digger squarebill crank, and a cabelas jerkbait??? I guess I am looking to see what experiences others have had with making their own "knockoffs" and if they have seen a decrease in fish caught with the less expensive lures??? Again, thanks to everybody for all your input.

Bcs Bowls And Others
I guess I am in the minority, but I think Oregon runs all over, around, and thru the Kansas State defense. Did anyone watch the K-State vs. Baylor game???? Oregon is much better than Baylor...especially defensively. I hope not, don't care for Chip Kelly, and really respect Bill Snyder. Hope K-State wins, but don't they can keep up Oregon.

Lure Painters/builders
Thanks Jerry. I guess I am looking at some of the Higher dollar stuff....ito 110's, lucky craft Kelly J's, etc and was wondering if I can make them myself...with my choice of hooks...cheaper than they are. I do realize there would be an initial outlay cost....but after that?

Abu/shimano Shootouts - Post Links
I too have experience with both....Revo S, SX, SC, and Winch and Shimano Citica 200E7 as well as Curado E5 and E7....I prefer the shimano reels BUT I had absolutely no problems with any of the Revos.

Thanks guys for all the help. Can you save money buy buying the lure bodies, then painting them yourself???

Lure Painters/builders
Thanks Drew. Do you just re-paint old lures, or do you buy "lure bodies" somewhere and paint them? If so, where do you purchase them?

Oh. My. Goodness.
Robert, I figured you had one of those already!

Lure Painters/builders
Downeaster2010, thanks for the reply. I didn't make myself very clear in the original post. I am really interested in making and or painting molds of hard baits...crankbaits, jerkbaits, topwaters, etc. I do appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Lure Painters/builders
This is just a preliminary discussion, but I have interest in making/painting my own lures. Can anyone here give me a rundown of how you started, where you purchase your supplies, and what is/are the basic equipment needed? I have seen some of the work done, and while not overly artistic, I think I would gain much satisfaction from catching fish on lures that I made/painted. Thanks for any help.

College Coaching Carousel
Louisville's president is on record saying he will pay whatever it takes to keep Strong there...of course, that means nothing if Strong wishes to go elsewhere. Also, with Louisville going to ACC, that might be enough to keep Strong? LSU's Les Miles took advantage of a little "preliminary" flirtation with Arkansas to reap a new contract & extension. Also, hearing/reading Auburn is interested in Bobby Petrino.

Citica 200D To 200E...when?
Anyone know when shimano updated the citica from the 200D series to the 200E series??? Thanks.

Revo S Or Citica 200G?
You will get many varied responses. I have no experience with the current model of either reel. Therefore, I can not give an informed suggestion. My advice to you would be to put each one on the rod you will be using at your local fishing store, and see which one feels best in your hand. Both Shimano and Abu Garcia make excellent products.
