  1. Sorry for my lame attempt at humor...i was poking fun at those that can't tell how deep it runs just by looking at it. (within 18" anyways)....later
  2. Seems that some of you may also add a "r" for rattling, "f" for floating, and are stuck on "s": is it suspending or sinking?.......sorry...
  3. I use gel-gloss, which is a cleaner/wax for bathroom tile and chrome. Works great but you do have to wash and dry afterwards. It can remove the gold plating if you are too aggressive with it, though. Also works great on rods and reels......
  4. Terrible idea if you ask me. You Don't want these people to have another gathering place, messing up our forums and such. Plus, i don't want to get showed-up on the lake by some GIRL. So...STOP IT!! just kidding ladies, welcome and enjoy this happy place, and don't be afraid of the other forums too..later
  5. JohnnyBigger- that was funny. Mine is , like others, is no fish on the first cast. So my first cast is usually only 15' and i burn it back to the boat. When your taking someone out for the first time, i make sure they see me do this. The look on their faces are priceless as they wonder if i have a screw loose..(well)...later
  6. Larry is awesome. I wish he was my older brother or uncle. Best fishing show (entertainmentwise) i have ever seen...
  7. You guys ARE old. My first fishing experience came in 1964, with my dad and 2 sisters. I had a little plastic "shuttle" with about 25' of line and a hook. Fished off a little bridge and caught 32 bluegills/sunfish in about 45 minutes on 3/4 of a nightcrawler. We threw them all back, but i was hooked. The summer of 1966, on our yearly vacation to see the relatives in Kentucky, my dad bought me a Eagle claw ul outfit for my birthday. I bought a rocky jr. (1 " jointed minnow) and slayed em in my grand-dads and his neighbor's ponds. I thought i was big stuff when i had my 2 tray tacklebox full of baits (age 12 in 1969). Still get geeked out on my way to the lake...later
  8. 5.0 - from about 28" down to 21" as compared to 28" up to 30" (inches per turn), the biggest "impact" would be a 5.0....
  9. Is it time yet to just vote players into the pro bowl and NOT play the game? It's unwatchable. Nobody wants to end their career in such a meaningless game where so many rules are changed. And yes, the Saints backed into the superbowl. 5 turnovers and you still need overtime? Peyton will carve you up like a chainsaw thru butta...The saints must pray for rain to even get a chance.....rant over...later
  10. My old Quantum 3.8:1 crankin' reel has been "retired" for a number of years now. And i'm almost done retrieving my last cast with it....later
  11. Very well said senile1. It's kinda like an underground brotherhood, you end up lovin' these folks..even you RW......later
  12. O crap! I thought we were going to bash those with tats..oh well...later
  13. I enjoyed last weeks games, especially the vikes' last score. How 'bout them cowboys? If it were a college game, then yes it was bush. But these are paid men , and you play a minimum of 60 minutes. kwitcherbellyakin booking. I just hope the championship games are good. I don't care who wins..it's not the lions.......later
  14. In my mind, Maris still has the record. McGuire and Bonds, and all those cheaters should be banned from baseball and it's records. MLB should grow a spine and not let the inmates run the asylum. Every player should get tested, and if they don't like it, they can play somewhere else. Salary caps too. I love the game, but HATE the way it is run....later
  15. I went thurs. also, but only took me 35 mins. from farm. hills. Seems every year the show gets a little smaller. The lynx was the best thing at the show. I was hoping to see Gostenik at 4pm, but couldn't find "stage b ". It's still nice to see Dan Gapen and capt. Steve Jones still manning their booths. In the 70's, i remember talking to Ron and Al Lindner, and seeing Jerry McKinnis (who wouldn't be bothered). There were some good deals on rods, but i wasn't in the market. Hope kvd can save the show for those attending over the weekend. It still beats a kick in the head......later
  16. Rapala- and it's not even close. Rebel does make my favorite small crank...the deep wee "r" in craw color.
  17. Jan. 7 -10 at the Rock Financial in Novi. $10 adults,$5 to park. Thusday only: get in free for 6 cans or boxes of food to help out folks throughout the state. I'm going on thurs. as always....see ya
  18. I like to use a Grigsby HP hook. I remove the wire clip, mash on a non-removable splitshot close to the eye, then powder paint. (I powder paint to close the gap in the eye of the hook.) I've also tried a size1 EWG hook, did the weight thing (as above) in the bend near the eye. Both work fine for me, but this was my first year fishing wacky. I use the weighted hooks because i usually fish french fries wacky....
  19. detroit1 spinnerbaits are all i use. (i assemble my own) I've learned over the years what tool i need for the situation, and make them accordingly. They may not have a pretty paint job, but they work. Cheaper? sometimes, but it is also fun.
  20. No such thing. Unless you only throw one size lure, making the same distance cast every time, no 1 set-up is best. If you are fishing a narrow, tree-lined canal, with a 1/4 oz. s/b8, a 6'm spin rod with 8# test would be easier, more accurate, and more efficient than a 7' baitcaster with 14# test. Of course this spin set up would be lousy for slow-rolling a 1 oz. in 20' of water.....
  21. It doesn't look like you use any of these lures. They all look brand-new!Take them out swimming once in a while and get them banged up a little, couple of teeth marks, etc.
  22. Steelers' losses are way worse than any team losing to the Lions. I think the lions have had 15 starters at left guard since 2000, and they are still trying to find one. Thanks Millen. Every time i see that blockhead on my t.v., i let the expletives fly. Why would anyone want to hear what this moron has to say about ANYTHING?
  23. Thanks LHC...thats it! I need one of these for my "museum"....
  24. I remember seeing this bait in their catalog (back in the 70's) but never saw one at a store. It was a jig with some kind of blade/ line tie. (not like chatterbaits or a Eaker shaker thing). Any "experienced" folks out there remember this? Was that blade "fixed" and what was it made of? Do you still have/use one? thanks....later
  25. I fish clear water most of the time, and i use both. If the water is flat (no wind), i prefer to run silent, or use soft plastics instead. On windy or cloudy days...let them hear something.
