Lake Redman, PA.
Not familiar with Redman but I know Loch Raven like the back of my hand. Other then feather island on Loch Raven there isn't much smallie fishing. Not to stray you from Redman but try Liberty in Carrol County MD. Nice smallie fishing and if you have the boat to get up far into the canyons you can hit some good LMB too. I also believe the state record fresh Striper for MD came out of there a few years ago. Pretty Boy has some smallies too. Do you have your own boat for the electric only lakes (Loch Raven, Liberty, and Pretty Boy)? If so I can give you some good coordinates for all three for smallies.

Wallet reference card
My cell phone actually has a weight calculator on it. I put in the girth and the length and it tells me the weight. It also has a fish log and weather report. It will tell me when lightning hits and how far it is away. Not exactly the same thing but may help some. ESPN Fishing Forecast on Verizon Wireless Phones.

which scale to get ?
I have the X-Tool Electric, floating scale and would recommend just bringing you bathroom scale over this thing. I have weighed the same fish 4 different times and gotten four different weights. Unfortunately those weights were also way off from each other. As large as a 9 OZ difference.

flourocarbon lines
X3 The transition is nice (gold is easier to see) but the blue box Vanish is horrible in my experience

Fishing TOOLS?

your favourite flourocarbon as main line
I have used Trilene Professional Grade 100% Flouro since it's release and although I don't like the green, I LOVE the clear. One day when I was at Cabelas, I tried their 100% flourocarbon and I swear it's the same thing. You can get 600 yards for the same price as 200 of the Trilene and it's just as good. It doesn't come in tints yet that may happen sometime. I used flouro on every reel and rod except for top water (mono) and my heavy flipping stick (braid), even my spinning reels. I swear by the stuff and would highly recommend at least trying the 200 yrd spool for flouro users.

MD fishermen Info
You can a permit for Liberty and Pretty boy(the same permit) at MD DNR. If you don't want to buy a permit you can go to Loch Raven, which would be a bit of a drive for you but you can rent a boat there. If you rent you wouldn't need the permit and could just pull up and go out. Liberty is huge and Pretty boy is nice now that the water is back up to a good level. Worth the permit in my opinion. Liberty also allows you to leave your boat there for free but it is first come first serve and leave at your own risk.

Snaps for wacky rig
I don't use snaps at all and on wacky rigs or jigs or any bait that the fish gets are very good look at what they are about to eat I would think would be bad. I would only use snaps on things that are going to get that reaction bite. Even then though I don't think I would use them.

Conowingo Middle River Dundee Mariner's Point Any others and where are good marina's to put in at? I know Mariner's Point and it's FREE. I'm not sure where the other three have public docks though. Any help would be great.

Black Hill Park/ Little Seneca Lake- Boyds, MD
Blackhills is pretty nice with some horses in there. The muskie that they stocked it with to control the crappie are now a bit out of control though. Either way it's a smaller lake and pretty good. If you can find someone in the area with a reservoir rig hit Liberty or make the trip to Loch Raven. Liberty is nice and HUGE. Loch Raven I swear will rival ANY bass fishery in Maryland. The amount of fish you can pull in one day and the the fact that those fish are that incredibly healthy is just amazing. Just throw green...whatever you throw make sure it's green. Also you can rent a boat at Loch Raven with a Minn Kota and batteries for about $30 that will get you anywhere on that lake you need to go, slow but it will get you there.

My "Sunday" project. 12' V-hull makeover-LOTS of PICS
Amazing. It still amazes me what some people can do with a littel time and some tools. I've always been a "here's a check, do it for me" kind of guy so I am blown away by these boat projects. Great Job and I can't wait to see the final product!

Wildest Thing?
Their children....I mean what kind of father raises you for short period of time and then eats you one morning. What kind of therapy would it take to get over that? Seeing your brothers and sisters eaten by your father.

Marine Carpet
I actually just found out thet Lowe's is surrently carrying high quality marine grade carpet (in grey only) but will no longer be carrying the carpet in store so it ison super sale. The Store by my house in MD has it at $0.54 per square foot. Doing an 18 foot bass boat would run about $92 buck with some left over. Not sure if every Lowe's has that deal but the 4 within driving distance of my houe all have it with the largest amount being a full role at 100 foot long and 6 foot wide. It's worth a shot.

Electric motor question
I fish primarily in electric only reservoirs around Baltimore MD and yes that 46 will push you but VERY slow. The rental boats that are available are LOWE 1448 with a 36 lb Minn Kota. The reservoir is Loch Raven reservoir in Cockeysville, MD and it'spretty small. The 36 lb will get you from the dock to either point (not both) in about 1 hour and 45 mins. It's about 1.5 miles total distant from dock to point. When I go out ad rent I go with a buddy (about 245 lbs) and I am about 190 lb. Two or three rods each with normal amount of tackle. We need two batteies and can only go to one side. Using the other battery to get back. Last time I went I used my buddies 76 lb and rolled. I could keep up with most 60 volt Ray Electrics on the lake although they are much bigger boats (18 - 20 foot). So I would recommend going higher on thrust and buying 4 batteries for a 24 voltmotor. 2 to go and 2 to come back. If the lake you fish on is the biggerside you will spend most of your time getting to where you are going. The higher thrust is more $$ but well worth it. I fish in electric onlyreservoirs 3-4 times a week and rent 2 of those times where I am using that 36 lber. Just my two cents but I would go bigger and go 24 volt with 4 batts.

Ray Electric Motors (Electric only Reservoirs)
In the Baltimore area of Maryland there are 3 reservoirs that are electric only and to obtain permits you can not have a gas motor at all. There are Ray electric motors (and others) that make 48 and 60 volt electric motors cabible ofpuching an 18 foot boat all day very well. Normally they are used with 6 volt batteries (10 or 8 total) but why can't you use 12 volts and save the weight and space? I know the 6 volt will last longer but how much longer. There are several boats that use 2 12 volts on 80 lb Minn Kotas and zip along pretty well. They also seem to last all day too. So to any electrician, or battery guru, how much more run time will I get with 6 volts versus 12? Also, does anyone have any experience with Minn Kota's new eletric motor? Thanks

Soft Baits with "pockets" for attractant
I just started using the YUM craw papi baits. Near the mouth of the craw fish shapped bait there is a hole. I'm not sure why that hole is there but I have injecting Carolina Lunker Gel (crawfish) in that hole and it last for several casts before it is all desolved away. The best thing about this bait, for me, has been the ability to let that bait sit on the bottom and the attractant to slowly dissolve in the water. So my question...Does anyone know of any other baits that have this "pocket"? I have tubes and it seems to work with tubes as well but I like the natural look of the craw papi better. Nothing like a fish being attracted by a crawfish smell and taste to a crawfish looking bait. Thanks Sorry for the commercial, that wasn't my intent. Just looking for something similar.

CARROT STIX HAVE ARRIVED!!!
And that's the rods fault how? :-? :-/ Guess it could be something else but I know his parabolic bend versus his medium action st croix looses hook sets on the same baits WAY more often. Maybe the rod bending all over is allowing the line to not get as tight to drive that hook in. But it was pointed out on the same jig and the same shakey head that the Carrot wasn't driving that hook in and the St Croix seemed to do the trick. Different fish of course but the same day, same weight, even same line. He "tested" it because he lost fish the weekend before. Just a theory
