  1. Camo Junebug/Red Watermellon/Red Black/Blue Pumpkin Green/Pumpkin PB&J I try not to get caught up in colors as much as location, location, location. Most will catch fish if you have figured out the area.
  2. I have been off the water for three weeks due to the weather and I am going to Lake Conroe Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Anyone in the area interested let me know.
  3. We do several a year. Any lake with a slot limit requires us to fish a paper tournament. They seem to work well.
  4. Just a gimmick. I own no reels with the flipping or twiching bar and do not intend to. I'm with Sam on this one.
  5. Empties your wallet...A V-6 Mercury is $600.00 a hole here in Houston to repair.
  6. Trilene Big Game (Green) Suffix Power Pro
  7. My internet access and phone lines have been down since IKE. Called AT&T last week to get it fixed. They set up a date to repair and bumped me three times. It was finally fixed this morning and the tech told me they had three different departments saying the problem was with another department. One was to repair a line down the street, got there and said the problem was a line tech problem and they would have to call out another tech that specialized in that area. This went on for 10 days and still no one could fix my problem. After it was done this morning they told me it was a problem with a card that transfers the signal from fiber optic to a copper line. It took three repair departments arguing over who was at fault, and the problem ended up being a five minute fix. Why don't companies train their repair tech to train in more than one area instead of having a dozen trying to fix an issue that one could do with the correct training? What a cluster #%* it was. Thanks for allowing me to vent...
  8. Glenn, the Texas State Top 6 tournament is on Belton this upcoming weekend. Talk to Lane, she can probably help you recruit some boaters. I had to cancel due to damage from Ike. Good luck Jack
  9. This early in the year I will concentrate on the outter 1/2 of Negreet paying attention to the points on either side of each creek working my way back into the bay. I would target the points on the south side of Tennesse bay as they are the closest to the main river and work my way back. The flat on the south side of the mouth of Negreet has produced some good stringers for me in the past. Just work your way down the side of the flat into the first creek you come to with plastics and cranks. I have fished Salter twice in my liketime and only once did it produce for me. that comes from a lack of knowledge and experience in that area. The better results for me have come fishing the submerged points and creek channels on the northern side. There are a lot of them off the bank in the deeper water up and down that area all the way to Salter. This is the area I would concetrate on.
  10. Just wondering what the first hybrid outboard will look like? Maybe we can all hang our feet off the back and kick. So much for the HP limits on boats.
  11. The preparation would be the most important feature. It will work fine as long as you prep each surface accordingly. To creat the correct bond the surface prep has to be done. Do not cut corners. The above posts are all correct. Good luck.
  12. Negreet, Six Mile Tenaha Any of the above
  13. Ike kept me from watching anything. Pwr up again this morning, not sure for how long though.
  14. Mike, let's send it to the **** and let them make a radio out of it.
  15. Glad you are ok. There is a greater plan in store for you.
  16. A SPECIAL THANKS TO LONG MIKE... He offered to drive from his home in Arkansas last week to deliver me a generator while my power was out here in Houston. That is a special kind of person. My power finally came on 45 minutes ago. Now if he can bring me a roof...LOL THANK YOU MIKE Jack
  17. The going rate here in Houston is $600.00 a hole to repair the V-6 Mercs. There is nothing wrong with reparing one hole even if you have to put in an oversize piston in that cylinder. Some will tell you the engine must be balanced, but you will be fine doing it. Just make sure the other cylinders are ok. No sense in having to go back in after you have completed the repair. Most important is to find out why the cylinder scoured to begin with. Check the fuel delivery system to begin with.
  18. There have been scattered reports and arrest of a few for looting. Not many though. I think they said they arrested 11 Saturday night for it. That's not bad for a town with millions of people. Also, some of the smaller outlying towns are imposing a $2,000.00 fine if you are caught out after curfew. That stops a lot of it.
  19. Just the luck of the draw. Several homes less than 100 yards from me are gone from the top of the bricks up. I have an engineer coming to do a structural assement on my home tommorrow. That will tell the tale. I wanted that report before the adjuster gets here.
  20. As a general rule everyone has been very civil for the most part. You have the exceptions though. Pasadena PD had to shoot and kill a fellow that carried a knife into a store to try to get gas on Monday. We are under a curfew, but you still have the certain elements out there trying to stir up trouble. Problems in the gas lines are occuring more and more as the days go by. Just a lot of frustration. I have not had any problems myself, but you make a wrong turn and get into an area and you can have problems quick.
  21. If you are interested: I am on generator power No power for us until middle of next week at the earliest We had 10 1/2 hours of sustained wind between 110 - 124 mph Maximum gust of 144 mph East side of houston still out of power Very little food, water, ice, and especially gasoline I waited 3 hrs. and 4 minutes for gas yesterday The eye went directly over my home between 3-4 Saturday morn Tempers are strained to say the least. It is dangerous, so stay out unless it is necessary. The wife and I went by a distribution point yesterday and the line was over three miles long My damage: Four trees down No power Roof must be replaced Interior sheetrock cracked in 11 places nine different leaks Three vents on roof destroyed Front door blown in and destroyed Other than that we are fine
  22. 8:55 83* No rain East/ NE wind up to about 65 mph. Hurricane force winds due around midnight lasting until about noon Saturday. No damage yet other than minor tree limbs down Storm surge 15-22 ft Projected sustained winds 100 to 120 with gust to 140 later tonight Landfall times are all over the place. Have heard anywhere from 2:00am to 8:00am depending on who you watch
  23. 7:45 p.m. Still no rain Wind 50-60 84* Cannot believe I still have power. Will not for long.
  24. Ike is finally knocking on our door. 5:30p.m. 86* N.E. Winds just jumped up above tropical storm force No rain yet.
