  1. Good luck CJ. I took the plunge 11 years ago. Lots of hard work, stress, and intense dedication is all it will take. You can do it! If you ever need advice or just want to complain about you clients to someone, just shoot me a note. FD
  2. I have only caught a few small LMB's out of it. I have seen people trolling for the hybrids or using chicken livers or Hal fly's. Stop in at Turkey Creek bait and tackle and talk to them. There are a couple of DEEP holes in there and the FWC stocked 500K Hybrids and specs in there a few years ago. A better spot for your canoe my be the Hillsborough river. I put in at Fowler Ave and drift down stream. It is idle speed only also. Another spot for you is Lake Gibson in Lakeland. A smaller lake with limited access. The boat ramp is on Socrum loop road behind 5 guys burgers and Fries.
  3. I live in Fl where 90*+ water temps are prevalent from July until September. I take two 32 oz gatorade bottles and freeze them. I don't fill my live wells in the marina. At my first spot I take a few minutes to half fill the live wells, add the frozen bottles, and turn on the recirculate. At only half full the water splashes at lot adding o2 and the ice causes temp inside the box drops to the 70's. When adding fish I add more water. This was a formula encouraged by my local Bassmaster Chapter. I don't know the chemistry behind this but I lost ZERO fish last year.
  4. OK, thanks TIN. my mistake, please continue fishing.....
  5. here is a pretty standard paragraph from most tournaments 13. TACKLE AND EQUIPMENT: Only artificial lures may be used. No "live bait" or "prepared bait" will be permitted during official practice and competition, with the exception of pork strips, rinds, etc. Only one rod and reel combination may be used at one time. No fly rods or rods over 8 ft. are allowed. Trolling as a method of fishing is prohibited. All bass must be caught live and in a conventional sporting manner. All angling must be done from the boat and anglers must stay on tournament waters during tournament hours. Anglers are not permitted to leave the boat to land a fish or leave the boat to gain access to secluded waters. Boats must remain in tournament waters during tournament day/days. Competitors must leave and return to official checkpoint by boat. Both competitors must remain in boat at all times except in case of dire emergency. In such an emergency, competitors may be removed from their boat to: A BOAT OPERATED BY OTHER COMPETITORS, A RESCUE BOAT DESIGNATED BY THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR OR TO DISLODGE THEIR BOAT FROM A HAZZARD. Partners must remain together at all times, in sight of each other and each other's catch, under the conditions cited above, in order for their catch of that day to be scored in the tournament. Citizen band radios, marine radios and cellular phones are allowed in the boat for emergency use only. Any transmission of information via any communicative device concerning any aspect of fishing is prohibited during tournament hours. The problem I see is the strict definition of trolling( does not matter how the boat is moving) intransitive verb 1: to move around : ramble 2 a: to fish by trailing a lure or baited hook from a moving boat b: search, look <trolling for sponsors>; also : prowl 3: to sing or play in a jovial manner 4: to speak rapidly Everyone has been guilty of "draggin" a worm behind boat from time to time. And by the letter of the rules, you should be disqualified. However if you look at the intent of the rules you are fine. Your guy is not only trying to get around the letter of the rules, he is trying to cheat. If it were my club he would have be removed by now. As far as gaining an advantage, I don't think so, but it is against the rules.

  7. Love the show, it is fun and not a commercial...
  8. Most of the canal is "safe speed" with several no wake zones clearly posted. I have caught quite a few 1-2 lb fish on the eustis end before you get to the first no wake zone. If you are going to run in the channel be aware of the speck fisherman, they will sit right in the middle of the channel like they own it. The Dora canal as well as dead river are all No Wake. As for Toho, Cypress, Hatch and Kissimmee, all of the main river channels are "safe speed" with the only no wake zones near the locks and in the "old" river side channels.
  9. Congrats and welcome!
  10. Nice fish
  11. congratulations!
  12. Exactly - Take what you have learned and find your own spots. Use his spots with his permission only on days that you will not be fishing against him.
  13. A couple of thoughts on this subject: My family has been in this country for over 200 years now, but even we came from somewhere else. I have had over 150 employees in the last 12 years and I now have this employment policy. If you were born in this country and under 30 I will NOT hire you. You are most likely arrogant, lazy, no work ethic, and want to be paid premium dollars for very little effort.

Yes we remember the encyclopedia, dictionary and the phrase "go outside and play". Now, go do your homework. Sincerely Team Geezer PS - we were impressed that you could spell encyclopedia

ok here is the background. I got up at 3am and drove to sebring where I fished in a tourney(2 fish 3 lbs, 11th place) in Istokpoga on Saturday and then met the family at a rental cabin on Crooked Lake. This place has a private boat ramp and dock so I put the boat back in the water and Nicole and I fished at sundown. 4 small fish. Now it's around 9 pm and I tie the stratos up to the dock with the other 3 boats staying there and finally get to bed. Around midnight I am awakened by a neighbor telling me that 3 of the 4 boats that were tied to the dock, SANK. Evidently, the wind came up from the north in a storm (that I slept thru) and had 4' waves rolling across the dock and the stern of the boats tied to it. There they are sitting on the bottom in about 2' of water still tied to the dock. We all pitched in and started bailing and getting them loaded back on the trailers. 2 hours later all the boats are on trailers and we go back to bed. Sunday was spent draining fuel tanks and drying everything out. I don't think I suffered any major damage but it did ruin my fishing weekend.
  20. Good job, keep climbing with that PB
  21. We are headed in that direction though, kinda scary!
  22. There aint no fish in it. Or at least not that I can find. I have tried that lake, mostly because it's ten min from the house, 10 times over the last year and just can't get bit. I'm told the the south end just west of Baker Creek in the cypress trees is good and the reeds/grass lines south of the beach is good, but I can't prove it. I think the realigned Baker creek channel (old Hendry ranch/ new bajillion dollar homes) should produce, but again I can't prove it. Maybe I just suck at fishing that lake, maybe I will try again next week. It is a shallow bowl, lots of boat docks on the north half of the lake. It has cat tails and kissimmee grass for vegetation. I have not seen any hydrilla, which would account for the water clarity. the lake is a watershed for I-4, fed by the north running Baker Creek with the outfall structure on the north end of the lake. About 8 years ago, land on the east side was donated to SWFMD by the Hendry family (ranch that used to take up the entire east side of the lake). Baker creek was realigned and forced thru a manmade wetland to increase the water quality in the lake. So far it seems to be working, however I would not swim in it. The lake can be accessed two ways. On Thonotosassa Rd east of Taylor Rd their is a private pay to launch ramp. $5 to launch but don't waste your money. Further east on the South end of the lake is Baker Creek Park. A county ramp with parking for about 20 rigs. It is on the old Baker creek and a shallow, no wake canal get you to the lake. It is kinda small but I get my 21 Stratos in thru there. Lee
  23. no really, it was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssss big!
