  1. Where in GA is it? I havent had good experience with TackleDirect but TW is the best! Id make a pilgrimage to shop there in person.
  2. Like was said above - 20 lb is heavy for those. I would, and do, use 12 and 15 lb CXX for that size, mostly 12.
  3. Not unfortunate for him!?
  4. That Aird-X is nice. I also have a couple house rods from Cabelas. I do a similar trip and just take a couple less expensive combos and a couple okuma travel swimbait roads. Nothing worse than having rods bouncing around with a cooler and dog crate and bag of fruit and kid's stuff and 80 lb lab etc etc.
  5. I had two green sunfish ponds and a crappie pond that I could walk to from my house in rural west Tennessee. I caught some really big crappie and big numbers of green sunfish from those ponds. Also fished a couple apartment ponds in Memphis when I would go to work with my dad, and sometimes the Wolf River by Americsn Way in Memphis for catfish on those days.
  6. Are you in Florida or on the east coast? We caught them on soft plastic frogs and buzzbaits in shallow in weeds as soon as there were weeds shallow on the Potomac. Before that in the winter they are thick in any warm water spot and spinnerbaits were solid.
  7. After a few years old, kayak price really depends on the level of motivation of the seller. Depreciation is almost always 50% at least on the boat and drive, especially older drives. Add to that that most people are selling to get them out of the way for a new boat, or just to get them out of the way, and you should be able to get one that old pretty cheap.
  8. If you're really having trouble, use athletic pre-wrap and double wide wrist bands to hold a hot hands warmer to the inside of your wrist and insulate it. They have adhesive versions but theyre 5x the price. Then latex and fingerless wool or neoprene, or full neoprene if its really cold.
  9. I fished out of a Dagger Delta (sit-in) for years before my current boat and Nucanoe. The Delta is a great boat and if you could find one with similar specs it is a great first boat. I'd save more money or sell some gear to have more than $150, but if you can't you should post on some local boards and marketplace and see what you can get. Shipping isn't an option in that budget. You might also try posting on local kayak groups - sometimes people have spare boats and gear they just need gone.
  10. I have a Nucanoe Frontier 12 and at 180 lbs, I cant turtle it unless I jump out one side while holding the other side's handle and even then its really hard (and painful). I can stand on the gunnels. My 10 yr old and I switched places front to back while on the water. It is comically stable, but it does move as you walk around. Infinitely more likely to fall out (doing something dumb) than to flip it. You have to know your kayak's limits and your own physical (and mental) limits. Don't feed Darwin.
  11. Can't gang up - SEC fandom is an addiction, not a choice.
  12. Ease off your drag with the lower lb test braids. I dont have trouble casting it, I have trouble after a large fish. And by large fish I mean snag.
  13. Stocked ponds always equaled gold blade brown/yellow/white body roostertail. Tailwaters - white body, silver blade. I start 1/16th ounce and go up if theyre active. @TnRiver46 if thats the Clinch below Norris, a white roostertail never failed me when theyre generating, sometimes with crazy results. If theres no screws turning, its as small as you can go and tough sledding.
  14. If youre gently lobbing live bait, you're going to be happier with spinning. I'm a die hard Sahara user but YMMV.
  15. Never heard someone say "I wish I had less gas". I have a 20 hp Merc and a 6 gallon tank lasts me a few trips. If you fish multiple long days and long runs away from a fill-up, get the 6. If you're day to day or short trips, the 3 should be fine.
  16. Going to get revenge for that game in Charlotte! (Which I attended and heard Country Road so much I actually started singing it...) They should have UT play Memphis in the Liberty Bowl. At least the whole state would watch.
  17. Big maybe. We'd have to make the TSSAA playoffs first...
  18. IMO even paint is extremely overrated.
  19. The whole Bare Naked Ladies Christmas album.
  20. Malt vinegar is my first choice, hot sauce a close second. Im not above tarter sauce, but never ketchup. I should hang out with @DitchPanda and @TnRiver46
  21. i fish almost solely Curado Ds with a couple Daiwa Pixies and a Pluton in there as well as a couple Chronarchs. I dont switch or upgrade because the reels are rock solid, super smooth, dead reliable, and pretty easy to work on. I fish everything from ultralight to 7.5 oz swimbaits on the above. None of them are feathers, but they are great reels, and I like the ergonomics and aesthetics.
  22. i was just going to post that - the anaconda is the only Rage product i never caught a fish on. I just didnt fish them much. I wore out some space monkeys though. I rember going through 6 bags in one day fishing grass on the Potomac.
  23. That looks very 'juvie bluegill' to me...
  24. Fished that many times in a kayak - you can see them letting water out of the lock. I was sitting right over it once when the started letting water out - felt like I shot 10 ft in the air. Dang near had to change pants
  25. That Loudon?
