  1. I feel the same way regarding SM. If I catch a big SM it will be from Lake Ontario or the St. Lawrence and some kind of Goby imitating bait will probably be the lure. LM, who knows? I do catch some of the bigger fish on frogs in small farm ponds and backwaters where no one else fishes so a topwater frog would be my best guess.
  2. The shipping had me concerned. The reel was easy to track. It looks like it shipped from China to JFK by air and then went to the USPS for delivery. It was delivered by USPS. The rod went to a location in China and then the tracking data became convoluted. At one point I found a UPS tracking number while the item was still supposed to be in China and it showed the item out for delivery in the US the next day. Then UPS said it was a bad tracking number. Two days later the site indicated the item was out for delivery via UPS and it was. BTW I'm happy with both the rod and reel. Hmmm! You may have something. Maybe the balloon is China's low tech answer to Amazon's drones. ☺️
  3. Many years ago I read an article in one of the fishing mags about scent. They interviewed a person who developed scents and he said they added scents we humans could smell to give us a reason to buy. He added that the scents that attract bass and other fish either have no odor or cannot be smelled by humans. Without the added smell we would not buy believing there was no attractant in the bottle. They hooked me.
  4. Just an update. I was watching the site and tracking the rod shipment. The invoice said it would be delivered by March 31, 2023. A few days ago the tracking showed the rod was moving in China and then the tracking froze up. The rod arrived here this past Friday. Total time about twelve days......not bad. I also ordered a reel and that took about six days. Again not bad.
  5. My bass must be illiterate also. ☺️
  6. ? Circle hooks are all I'm using now.
  7. How about double, triple, and maybe quadruple duty? I usually carry 3 rods in the boat and sometimes a fourth. If I change techniques or baits I pick the best rod available. I do have some rods that could be considered "technique specific" but they are dedicated to bait fishing for carp and catfish and could be easily repurposed if needed. I have a swimbait rod that I discovered was a great frogging rod by necessity. "Whoda" thought I could throw those little frogs on that big rod with that heavy braid. But it works! ?
  8. Am I correct that I would have to buy an additional transducer to use the FFS? That is certainly something to sweeten the deal on the Lowrance.
  9. I think you should forget about "easy" registration and get a boat that is safe and best suited for the water and type of fishing you will be doing. Registration is a one time thing. Once it's done it's done.
  10. Many years ago the Waterway Patrolman in SE PA was a very close friend. One day he told me he had a "terrible job" and then told me that he had to "go fishing" and catch a bunch of pan fish so that the Fish Commission could use them at an outdoor exhibit to demonstrate how to fillet a fish. Of course, he was just trying to make me jealous that he got paid to go fishing for a day.
  11. That's going to impact my fly-fishing trip to New Hampshire tomorrow. Maybe I'll have to use my ten weight. ?
  12. Where are you getting bins? I need a few. ☺️
  13. Norfolk Southern posted their right of way because of fear of getting sued if someone was injured or killed. I remember when they did it because many folks had camps or cabins on the river and you had to cross the NS tracks to get to them. The guys with camps tried to work out access with NS but I never heard what happened.
  14. If you don't want to "buy" you ask Jesus for help. If you do want to buy then you go over to the dark side and get in bed with the evil "Bait Monkey". Hope this helps! ?
  15. I have Zerk fittings on all my hubs and I service the hubs regularly but I pull and repack my bearings before any long trip.
  16. Have you fished with it?
  17. Your right. In 1984 Evinrude and Johnson were selling new low HP 10, 15 and 25 HP engines and recommending a 100:1 mixture. A few months later Evinrude and Johnson rescinded the 100:1 recommendation and went back to 50:1 for all small engines.
  18. I never heard of that malady but it's a good description. ☺️ The OP seems to be locked into firm numbers. Just use the numbers as a guide. Not a limit you cannot cross. I throw a lot of heavy baits on different rods. Some are too heavy for the rod I'm using at the time, some are too light, but most work surprisingly well. If your 7’4” HF Mojo is working then why replace it unless you're looking for a reason to buy another rod?
  19. Wow! I didn't know that. That changes everything about the way I'm going to fish. ?
  20. The gold & black and the Table Rock are two of the four colors I have.
  21. Very nice!! Good luck with it.
  22. I never had that problem with mine but I'd suspect a short if I did. First I'd inspect the cable to make sure it is not crushed or kinked. It it was damaged then the individual wires in the cable could be shorting out. Next I'd pop off the top of the pedal to make sure the connections in the pedal are intact and that nothing is shorting out the connections and that nothing is broke. I had my pedal apart for some reason a few years ago and I remember there were electrical connections and a lot of fragile mechanical connections. If I found nothing then I'd call Minn Kota.
  23. That tail on the dingers may make a good trailer on my jigs or chatter baits. No matter it was too good of a deal to pass up.
