rhino lining
Just to throw this out there as well....my father in law got the do it yourself kind for his truck...and.....well...it did well for about 6 months. He is one of those folks that reads directions and does everything by the book, and he's pretty handy....so, if you decide to go that route, I would get it done professionally using one of the bigger name products like Rhino.... But...that last point was a good one....loud when you drop stuff....hot in the summer....

facebook?? fishing??? what does it mean??
Here's how it starts.... Your wife/girlfriend is on facebook/myspace all the time. You constantly make fun of her and the people she is telling you about until you become sucked in yourself. The next day, you are making fun of yourself and updating your status.

Definitely slower than the previous seasons. Plenty of potential though...we'll see. Redemption was absolutely a waste of my time.

Best Lipless Crank
I jumped on the strike king red-eye bandwagon as soon as KVD started pumping them up. They are no doubt awesome and I have never had a problem with one straight out of the box like I have with some other brands...... However, the most productive trap I have found FOR THE LAKES THAT I FISH has been....get ready......the H2O xpress lipless crankbaits. I think probably the color has the most to do with it for me. Its got just a splash of silver/chrome on the belly and fades to blue toward the topside.

Didn't quite get what you wanted?
How often do you all catch fish other than what you were going for and what kind??? When I go to see the family in Shreveport and fish Caddo, we are all the time catching dang jackfish. When I lived in Montgomery and fished lake Jordan, it was gou or drum, whatever you want to call them. Now that I live in Opelika, I fish West Point and have "accidentally" caught quite a few striped bass, more so than the largies or spots. Don't get me wrong, its still a fight and you still get the rush, but when you see that big white joker come to the surface, its a bit disappointing ya know??? Saturday I thought I was setting shattering my personal best when I set the hook, and when I finally got him to the boat......9lb striped bass...... Do you think this is more location or lure oriented????

seminars and lure shows
I put on a seminar every week on how to not catch fish and lose at least one jig at West Point Lake. But seriously, the only things I know of are the "special events" at the Bass Pro Shops in Prattville.

Wildlife encounters
I saw my first gator in the wild the first time I fished Eufaula at the end of November. It was awesome. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Didn't know how to act....how close could i get...did i need to stay far away....we decided to troll over to about 10 yards away and just check him out. It was awesome (and a little creepy) that he would just come up to the top of the water and not move for minutes at a time, then he would submerge for 10 seconds and reappear 30 yards away. The snakes creep me out. See them all the time during the warm months. Reminds me of that dang Bill Dance video where the snake falls out of the tree every time.

whats a good charger?
I've got a 2 bank minn-kota on the boat Works very well, switches to automatic float. I bought a back up black and decker charger at WalMart that works very well also. It was only like 40 bucks...it only charges one battery at a time, but it has several settings and they all have automatic float. For convenience, my vote would be to find a 3 bank on board charger.

Bionic Blade for spinnerbaits?
All true. That bionic blade seems to be on sale year round. But, I really like them for pretty much everything. Had one on a spinning rig and traded it for a casting rod....both were 6'6 MH and great for everything I wanted to do. I would go with the 7 if I had the choice.

Strike King, Sexy Shad Color Baits?
I have been through a few, but the only thing I caught on them were trash fish. Not necessarily a knock on the bait, cause that one pro....whats his name..... seems to do pretty well with them. I do like the feel and the action of all those strike king rattle traps. Around our parts, the chrome sexy shad worked much better for me. Just my .02.

Guntersville Vegetation Problem
Whats going on up there on Guntersville? I have been hearing and I read on bassmaster that TVA is going to stop managing the aquatic vegetation. Sounds bad for that awesome lake? Can anyone explain this better and let us know if there is anything we can do to lobby to ensure this lake maintains is quality?????? http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/conservation/news/story?page=b_con_news_GvilleVeg_20090109

Elite Cancellations
Man....thats crazy. At least 88 elite anglers are going to have 3 less chances to make some money. They'll probably go find an FLW tournament to get in though.... It seems to be a very responsible, very good move though. There are not many people in the country that are not being affected already, even if only by the uncertainty of not knowing what is going to happen in the next year, and this will save sponsors a LOT of money...but...again, the anglers...do you think this is a good move on their behalf?????? Or more geared toward helping sponsors???

Would you mind posting a link to that??? Was it saying this year or in the future?

The "no haggle price" topic
Awesome. Exactly what I was wondering. Anybody else??? Keep em coming.

High water question?
Whats your home lake here in alabama???
-
The "no haggle price" topic
That's what we need to know! Tracker and Nitro are the only brands that I know have all their "prices" right out there on the web. Who has bought one, and did you get a better deal than what was listed on the web?
-
The "no haggle price" topic
Yep. The internet has become such a valuable tool. When I bought my boat, and the last 2 cars we've purchased, we already knew exactly what we wanted and exactly what we were willing to pay before we even went to the dealer. Its an Xpress and at the time they weren't doing the whole no haggle thing, but I can go to the website right now and get an out the door, no haggle price on a tracker pro team 190, or a Z7 Nitro.
-
The "no haggle price" topic
Do you all believe in these. A lot of boat dealers (especially tracker) and even car dealers display these no haggle prices on their websites. Has anyone had any experience of being able to negotiate a deal under this "no haggle price?" To me it seems like any other gimmick? What do you all think? Are these really good deals?

Bass Fishing on Fort Benning and surrounding areas
Welcome to the site! I live right down the road here in Opelika, and I'm not sure about any lakes that are actually on post, but I think your best options are going to be lake harding and West point. Harding will prob. take you about 30 min to get to, west point about 45 depending on were in the area you are. In my opinion and based on my experiences, you can catch plenty of dinks on lake harding, but much better quality on West Point. Don't know where you're originally from, but the fishing on these lakes can be tough to get used to. They are both pretty clear, and neither has a whole lot of grass or trees or other types of obvious cover, so to me, it has been more like an offshore deepwater kind of deal...lots of point fishing..I haven't been able to fish either of these lakes during the spring, so i'm in for a bit of a surprise there....moved over this way back at the beginning of the summer. Then, there's always Eufaula about an hour away which holds some absolute monsters. Good luck. Don't hesitate to send me a PM or just post on here for more info.

Around here you are advised to wear one, only required within 500 feet of a dam. WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE WEARING THESE.
