  1. Yet in this discussion on Mojo's you say you haven't used yours yet... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1228852889 This is, IMHO, the biggest problem with this forum and others like it. There are too many people with little to no actual experience with certain products recommending them to others as the best thing since sliced bread. : I'm sure you're happy with your rods, but do us all a favor and try them out before you go recommending them to others. Maybe so. But is it not possible that his comment about "trust me you'll notice a difference" was about the falcon original compared to the BPS extreme? Another problem with forums, lots of guys that have been around for a long time getting overly annoyed with newer guys asking questions and making suggestions. Too many folks just sitting and waiting to call someone out.
  2. I just bought my first BPS XPS flouro 2 weeks ago (20lb) and thought the same thing when I opened it up. I went ahead and spooled it up and used it the next day. After one day, it is absolutely, without a doubt, my new favorite line, by far. The stuff just doesn't mess around.
  3. Now that's funny. Been there a few times. The thing that I am really good at is dodging baits that coming flying back at me after setting the hook on some monster water.
  4. The only difference between my setup for casting and flipping, is that for flipping and pitching, I turn my brakes either completely off, or on the lowest setting. Still have to thumb it quite a bit, just don't forget to turn your brakes back on when you go to cast. ;D
  5. zoom ultravibe speed craw. bite off about 1/2 inch and it looks beautiful.
  6. For that price range, absolutely the Falcon Lowrider or the Shimano Crucials. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome.
  7. amazing. x2 for the beaver. Lake Fork trophy lures craw tube. Best of both worlds. Absolutely love it.
  8. Good point about West Point Lake back there. A 25 pound limit use to be fairly common from what I hear. These dang spots are hyper agressive feeding machines and it has definitely hurt the LMB population. If you can catch a 15-17 bag there now, you are in the hunt for the win. One lake south of West Point is Harding. I don't think its ever been a premier fishery, but the same story. Loaded with 12 inch spots. Folks can catch 12 inchers all day long, the guy who catches the 3 pound kicker usually wins. 8-10lbs and you've got a good shot. I have personally never seen a fish larger than 4 weighed out of harding. So...I like the fight, I hate what they do to the big fish population.
  9. Check that tackletour article like he said. I re-read it fairly often and notice something new every time. They have completed 2 rounds of testing covering everything from abrasion resistance, knot strength, breaking strength....all that jazz
  10. Steve Kennedy because he a local war-eagler and he just seems to be a good dude all around. But so are 99% of the guys on the tour.
  11. I've got a little baby 46lb thrust motorguide on my 17ft. xpress w/ 50HP. It does everything I need it to do. Both of my buddies in Louisiana have minnkota and love them too though. None of the three of us have had issues with a bent shaft. The main differences we have noticed on our particular models are the controls. My MG has the "go switch" on the right side of the pedal, while there MK's have a button right in the middle. They don't like running mine and I don't like running their's. So, in my humble opinion....TOSS UP!
  12. Welcome Will!!! Lots of good folks with lots of good information here! You'll love it! Glad you're a part of it.
  13. Don't want to bash anyone's product here at all...quite the opposite. But, can anyone tell me something that would prevent me from going out and buying a Bee-Line 286? The things look great and are dirt cheap. Brand new 18 1/2 foot boat with a 93 inch beam and a 150 HP whatever I want for about 20K???!!!!??!!!!!!!?? I've always been a believer in if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is....but dang....thats hard not to at least strongly consider for my next upgrade. What are some of yall's opinions on these boats? good or bad..
  14. DavisCW-if there's a civil component to your program (roads/bridges) you might want to stay put with all the proposed infrastructure improvements!!!
  15. Sleeve of wizard...I still lose it when I watch that part. ;D I've been waiting for someone to throw that line out all day!!!!! (After awesome tongue action) Thees my seester. Number 4 prostitute in all of Kazahkstan.

We got a load today. Don't know exactly how much because we in Alabama don't really know how to measure snow, but we got at least 8 solid hours of what I would consider a blizzard.
  17. Daiwa exceler-about 75 bucks KVD signature series 7' medium heavy power rod-59 bucks at BPS right now. I promise, you will like it, especially if you're new to the baitcaster world
  18. pinnacle solene reel-relatively cheap (50 brand new, 15-20 on ebay)and I have found it to be awesome for light lures 6'6" quantum tenacity M action rod Instead of senko, I use Kinami, made by the same folks, but cheaper I wouldn't use anything but an owner or gamakatsu 2/0 or 3/0 straight shank worm hook. I've bought some cheaper hooks and have had big problems with them bending I fish these almost exclusively on a drop shot rig, and i use different weighted split shots so that if the weight gets hung up, it can slide off without losing the entire rig
  19. The first time I caught a 9lber. Fishing with a strike king red eye shad lipless crank. Cranking it, then letting it die. When I felt the bite, I set the hook and it immediately started taking drag. Man, the excitement. Fought it for a couple minutes, and when she got to the boat, she was a big ole ugly drum! Still, a fun fight!
  20. That and anything that says Vanish on the package. x100--I've used this "joke" before, but that crap tears up just coming through the water
  21. Had this happen to me on the alabama river about a year ago during a terrible drought. Needless to say, I was freaked out! Didn't know what I was going to do. I have an 17ft. aluminum Xpress and I learned very quickly that day that the light boat was an advantage in that situation. I don't always have to run my boat all the way up to the roller, so I pulled the truck back up to where the tires where back up on the ramp, then used my winch to pull the boat up on the trailer, just so I could do it slowly and be mindful of preventing any damage if it dragged! Now, this would be a totally different story if we were in nearly any fiberglass boat, because I don't think I could have managed that well.....
  22. Don't have a 3 bank, but my 2 bank minnkota has been through about all you can put a charger through and held up fine.
  23. Welcome!!! I don't have to tell you how lucky you are to live in such a great area for fishing.... red river, caddo lake, black bayou in hosston, cross lake, black lake, bistineau... I would trade every lake within an hour of me for just one of those!!!
  24. Welcome to the forum!!!! Thats a heck of a first year! I'm entering my 3rd and have yet to find one over 5 1/2!!
  25. Welcome to the forum! Good luck with getting that ice melted!
