  1. the bait brought the price, not the paint
  2. Keep in mind, I tie flies down to 28s on my vice the whole way up to full size 5/0 bass jigs
  3. If you hunt I would find one thats dual purpose. Who cares if youre wearing camo. If you got the $$ look at the sitka downpour series.
  4. Lake Waulenpaupak is close(spelling) and is fairly large. You also have the Susquehanna river coming right through town. I just came back from there, her family is from that area. In addition there must be a 1000 small lakes up there that likely hold bass.
  5. I have stuff with logos on it, I am certain everyone does. The younger generation 30 and under was brought up where if you didnt wear name brand stuff you werent in the cool crowd. I never caved to it as far as some people but I do have gear with logos on it, though not much. I can think of four items in my wardrobe which have a companys name prominently on it. A GAP hooded sweatshirt, an elite archery hat(best warrenty in the business and customer service), TW hat in white I bought to fish in the summer heat and a Daiwa shirt that I also got in white to fish in the summer heat. I try my best to never put stickers on my vehicle which have a name. Right now, my only sticker is three turkeys walking, an NWTF sticker which I cut their name off of even though I support their cause. Its always the people who have these high priced name brand product stickers on their cars who are the first ones to complain someone broke into their cars or homes to steal stuff. Nothing like telling total strangers you have nice gear. I dont have a big archery sticker on my vehicle because when my car is parked along the road, I dont want anyone to know I might be after a big buck. The details is where this argument of being against it comes from me. I dont want my stuff stolen and I dont want to advertize your company unless you have done something special. Orivis, really did something specail for me, Elite... same story. I absolutely love almost everything I have or I wouldnt own it but I am not putting any sticker from a company on my ride without a discount.
  6. Salmon ocean or landlocked in the great lakes imprint in the stream. More often then not they return to the exact stream of imprinting. There could be another creek 100 yards away and they wont run into it because they didnt imprint in it. Imprinting is I believe mostly related to smell. Those fish can smell and remember which creek they were hatched or stocked into. This is why the steelhead program is successful and they dont all just run over and up into the Canada waterways.
  7. The best live bait for bass will forever be a hellgramite in moving water with stone cats being a close second, a bluegill in a lake and a goby or emerald shiner in the great lakes
  8. Theres an article on this site somewhere where one of the pros talks about a kicker fish he hooked twice in the same tournament before catching it the third day. Changed up baits every time.
  9. I think about this every time I see a bait or company offering a tournament jersey that you have to buy. Sure, let me pay $80 for a jersey to advertize for you for free. Yeah ok yeah! Ill tell ya, these reel and rod companies have the perfect marketing idea. Here is how it typically goes Buy item A Send in proof you bought item a and the money to ship it and we will send you a shirt So... you bought the reel, you paid for the shipping on a shirt that cost them $5 to make if that and now you are going to wear that shirt around with pride, you became a walking billboard. I have a good chuckle everytime I see some knucklehead with a Mathews sticker covering their entire back window of their truck. They paid $100 to advertize for a company that did nothing but take their money for an overpriced bow.
  10. Its really not cost effective for the results. You can buy a pack of 2 for like $4. You have to make sure it will stop letting out line when it hits bottom, not sure how that would even happen in a river environment without knowing the depth and stopping the line. Then, I am not certain the current wont pull it under. GPS is the ticket on this one.
  11. you might have a wiring issue not a pump issue
  12. Im going to suggest going to a softer mono in a lighter lb test. My spinning reels are all running 8lb max but mostly 6lb seguar red label. Suffix, i love their braid but their heavy mono was a nightmare for me.
  13. I use spike it. You can do some cool things to lures with some spike it and a qtip. It also comes in many more colors than jjs.
  14. Was in DSG for an hour today. At one point I had a jerkbait, a hat, some soft plastics.... I walked out with nothing because I decided I really didnt need any of it.
  15. I use a mh to fish jigs, thats not enough for some but it is for me. we dont have the slop the south does
  16. Since when is Illnois north east? I would think theyre in the Central forum!
  17. I feel your pain. Last year I was fishing a $300 wednesday night lunker. It was tough conditions. I decided to fish the shade line on a rip rap point extending out from a highway bridge. I assumed with bluebird skies the fish would be in the deep and in the shade and I wasnt wrong. I hooked into what I estimate wouldve been my personal best on that lake 8lb+. I had the fish completely to the boat and took a swipe at it with a net like a dummy. He spit the jig right at the boat. I prob sounded like Ike at that moment.
  18. black is actually a very easy color to see in all lighting conditions on the surface, you would be surprised. The nice thing about black also is it doesnt blend in with foam, bubbles and other stuff. I fish a lot of black strike indicators while nymphing.
  19. I hear ya brother.... my trailer needed new tires so I ordered those. When I changed them out I found out I had blown rear seals. Didnt know what the bearings were so had to pull the hubs(which were older bolt style and I wanted rid of). Since I had the hubs off, I left them off and the trailer on jackstands. We had high wind, the boat and trailer fell to the ground. I smashed my hand getting it back up in the air. My new hubs came and I installed them. I no sooner finished and got to thinking they sent me a single lip seal, checked online and sure enough they did so I had to order a new set of seals which will need put on in the next few days. I then decided to put my new fish finder in, had one heck of a time pulling the transducer wire out and back in cause it was so tight. Went to step out of the boat and missed the step and caught my leg between the shift lever and steering wheel while hanging in the air with all my weight. I hope my streak on that side means that next weekend is a good finish.
  20. The lexa is only $109 at a few places. Most places it retails $140
  21. Here is his page... http://www.underwateroz.com/ The second video in the series... feeding lies.... is the one which focuses on Hydrology
  22. You should watch the underwater oz trout series so you can understand flowing water better. Current doesnt always do what you think it does. A fish actually expends less energy sitting in fast water then it does in still water. If you watch a fish in fast water they pitch and yaw like an airplane with the currents, very little fin movement. A fish in still water must use every fin it has to hold position. What the water is doing at the surface isnt always what its doing at the bottom. Evey fisherman should see that series, yes its based on trout but its not trout fishing, its about fish habits.
  23. Rivers are especially scary at high speed, you never know what is sticking up. If theyre gonna run 70 in the river they might wanna rethink letting people change boats in favor of jets.
