So You Just Caught Your Limit...
If I lived in a different or big bass state (TX, FL, CA) I would probably have a different mentality towards targeting bigger fish from the get-go.

Best 7' Crankbit Rod Ufor $100.00
You can get 3 Browning Silaflex crankin rods for $105 bucks. Fiberglass, been around forever. Good rods, I use them on a regular basis and I crank A LOT! I am strictly a fiberglass crankbait rod junkie and another good one to look at under $100 would be the American Rodsmiths David Fritts signature crankin rods. I use those also, they are worth every penny.

Smallmouth on Rapala DT16?
Some of the biggest smallmouth I've ever caught have been with a DT16. Plenty over 4#, several over 5#, one over 6.

Rick Clunn's Rod setups
This is a fairly new thing and NOT what made him the best. You're probably right though, if Ike and KVD could cast worth a darn, they'd probably win more often and might eventually become top pro's like Clunn. ...lol You're funny

Rick Clunn's Rod setups
Maybe when Ike and KVD get to be as old and seasoned as the "greatest fisherman alive", they'll use one specific rod for everything.

Tyler Hansbrough
Hansbrough is a great talent and nobody works harder than he does, thats obvious. Has anyone else noticed that everytime he gets the ball, he travels? Man, the refs could get him traveling 50 times a game if they wanted to. They got him a few times last game, I was glad to see 'em finally call it. One thing I like about his game is that he is 100% focused on the job at hand. When he gets hacked and doesn't get the call, he doesn't cry about it. He'll give the ref a look and go about his business, thats it. He's definitely not a crybaby and he's not going to let the refs or anyone else into his head during a game. He knows how to shake it off immediately. He has focus like Tiger Woods. Scary focus. As far as NBA player? I say yes, just because anyone who dedicates his body, mind and soul 110% to the game of basketball like he does can't be held down when trying to make an NBA team. He plays all out, all the time and he simply refuses to lose. Someone will have a starting spot on their roster for TH.

Revo SX -vs- Revo STX
As a Revo owner, I think the STX is the best of all the Revo's. The STX is silky smooth, easy to cast and a flawless drag that wont quit. I had issues with 3 different SX's....1 had gear problems after a few hard hooksets and the other 2 had casting issues. Not sure if it was brake related or what, I returned all the SX's and bought STX's, S models and some Premiers. SX vs. STX ? I'll take the STX any day of the week

Gaston/Kerr 1st Trip
Gaston is a great lake in my opinion. It has it all....lots of creeks, rocks, docks, grass, flats, ledges, bluffs, points, stump fields etc....and April/May should be wide open down there. When I was there last April I caught fish on a chatterbait where there was grass with stained water and also caught several fish pitchin' a beaver type bait at whatever I could find.....also caught a few on docks with an *** ***. Gaston is one heck of a crankbait lake and I have also done really well on jigs there after the spawn and into summer. It really is a lake that you can fish your strengths and most likely do fairly well with it. I wish I lived closer to Gaston, it's probably my favorite lake in all of Virginia. Buggs (Kerr) is a great lake also. It fishes totally different than Gaston though in my opinion. Sometimes the fish are a little harder to locate. Buggs is not as deep and it has lots of flats and if the water is down, it is tough to fish. I find myself fishing way offshore alot on Buggs. Its just laid out differently than Gaston but still, there's some good bass fishing on Buggs, some of the best in the state.

Sportsman's Warehouse
They just opened one here about 3 months ago, I go there at least once a week and sometimes twice a week. I believe SW and BPS are somehow connected down the line. I sure am glad its here, Dick's was slacking in the fishing dept, now they've stepped it back up since SW came to town.

Fished with Skillet today
Any fish up shallow fanning beds? Temps in that range usually push the males up shallow to get the springtime ritual started. Good report though, glad you guys had a good time.
