  1. What would you get? Im deciding between a new rod and reel combo and just getting lots of bait and tackle

In the spring I mainly fish plastics so tubes and lizards are my favorites. I also like Rat-L-Traps for reaction strikes. Dont forget the Berkely Chigger Craw either! and the trick worm!
  3. I use Spot-Removers that have a screw lock type but its not a wire. Its solid and works well.
  4. Im very confused ;D Is it just the button you push to cast on the reel and they just gave it a fancy name? or is it something different?
  5. The new Shimano Citica and Curado have something called the QuickFire II. It has something to do with quicker casting or being able to free your spool to let your line out. Im not completely sure and thats why im asking. Is it a trigger or and extra part on the reel and what does it do? Thanks Link: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_102799_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1
  6. I would like to: 1. Catch more quality fish (break the 5 pound barrier) 2. Become more confortable with deep water fishing (10+ feet) 3. Finally put forth an effort to learn how to fish a jig 4. Be more consistent with my fish catching- Adapt better and fish smarter
  7. Bassmaster has great articles and the way its formatted and layed out is really reader friendly ;D
  8. I caught a lot of bass this past year so I mainly focused on quanity. This coming year I really want to try to catch a lot more quality fish, even if it means not as many. Quanity eventually gets boring so I want to catch those couple monsters on each body of water I fish. Can anyone give me some baits or techniques that will increase my chances. I know with any lure I will still catch dinks I just need something that may give me a better chance of catching those hogs. Thanks guys
  9. THE SHIMANO CITICA.......$120......great reel!
  10. Zel hit that one for you
  11. Thanks guys. That gives me more confidence when I get out there and use it. It was all POSITIVE feedback too, thanks again.
  12. I got a Quatum Energy PT M 7'0" fast action rod in June. I originally bought it for cranking but i relized that a moderate action would be better. I was curious what your thoughts are on how it may preform for cranking. It is too late to return and my parents wont let me get another rod for a while so can you guys give me some positive feedback about using this rod for cranking? Thanks everyone
  13. I just ordered the new Kevin Vandam KVD Sexy Shad Kit for a buddy of mine. It comes with about a dozen crankbaits, 2 spinnerbaits and 2 jigs all in the sexy shad color. It was $50, kinda pricey but hey hes my fishing buddy so what the heck, it feels good to give. ;D Has anyone used it or seen it? What are your thoughts? thanks guys
  14. I have the Navionics Premium and it gives me all the depths and structures on some of my favorite lakes. Here is the links to your choices: http://www.navionics.com/Premium08LakeList.asp?RegionID=3
  15. Catching fish is great, but catching dinks gets repetitive. Eventually you just want that one big bite and that will satisfy you. On a tough lake, ill be smiling ear to ear with 5, one pounders. But a farm pond or your best lake, id take those couple bigger fish.
  16. I love how a Yum Dinger will slide through them, and in the summer a frog is hard to beat. Those are my two favorites.
  17. That is one on the best spinnerbaits ive seen. Looks good, where did you get it?
  18. thats the way i see it. i dont care about bait ethics or anything, three qualities determine if i'll buy a bait: good price, good quality, catches fish. Thats the way you have to look at it. Companies copying other baits wont change so you just need to buy what catches fish.
  19. I always: Pitch with a 7' 0" MH BassPro Extreme rod a Revo SX with 30 lb. Sufix Braided Line a Chigger Craw- Black/Blue Flake or Black/Red Flake a 2/0 Gama G-Lock worm hook with a 3/8 oz. tungsten bullet weight, pegged Pitch in grass, rocks, weeds, gravel, pads, logs, laydowns, brush, docks, stumps, mats, reeds, and banks.
  20. Order them from mustad. They make some extra big hooks. Heres the link: http://www.mustad.no/ultrapoint/index.php
  21. Im sure if a 14 year old like me stood up to a grown man that was kicking me out it would cause even more trouble though.
  22. Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about!
  23. I dont mind the hump at all. Im not sure what it does as far as power for your hookset but I like it. Makes it more of a beefy rod! ;D
  24. Don't forget that I also said I prefer to be asked. . All you need is permission from one person and you have no worries. You might even make a new fishing buddy. The funny thing is about that is I had permission from two different people who lived in the neighborhoods and people still kicked me and my buddy out. I asked two seperate houses and personally knew a few of them and I still was bothered. Heck, the one man came down and offered to me water once, an umbrella one time when it was raining, and offered to have me for lunch. But in the end some guy still managed to get me out of there.
