  1. Thanks guys I did forget to mention that the reel is two years old but i've taken good care of it so im ready to start catching fish with it once it warms up again 8-)
  2. In my mind the whole "reaction strike" idea is theoretical, and there are a lot of ideas on just what that is. So, I'm not sure of your question; It's pretty vague. Guess I'd need more info. What prompted you to ask this question? Something in a video you saw, mag article, something you saw on the water? Curious here. Just the idea of when people "power fish" to get reaction strikes. I was curious if they ever change there plan do to water clarity and to see what I may consider doing next time I face different water clarities.
  3. Some of you fish both, others only fish one of these. When do you prefer a jig over a soft plastic craw? I fish Chigger Craws and I am going to start fishing jigs this year and was curious when you choose one over the other. Thanks
  4. I don't even fish prop baits and don't normally pay 25$ for one lure but these look unbelievable. If I were you I would give these a try.
  5. Im making a trip down to North Carolina with a friend to do some pond fishing from April 5 to the 14. Last year I made this trip from March 22 to the 30. I caught most of my bass on lizards. Since it is a little later do you guys have any suggestions. Thanks
  6. Sounds like a great setup to me. Make sure you use braided line 8-)
  7. I just bought a St. Croix Premier 7'0" Medium Heavy rod. I am going to put a Shimano Citica D on it with 12 pound line. Will this reel be strong enough to handle this rod and line? I'm fishing soft plastics on it. Thanks
  8. Great Fish Can't wait for it to warm up for us Northeast guys ;D
  9. 4 inch Chigger Craw is where it's at Best craw out there 8-)
  10. Mattlures do look great for the Bluegill swimbaits
  11. Im the same as you because im from Pennsylvania. Im constatly watching my step for copperheads and water moccasins when I fish ponds.
  12. Wow ;D Lots of debating here Some of you mentioned the bass being able to see a lure from a distance in clear water. This is what my question intended on getting an answer about Wouldn't it be more likely to get a reaction strike in muddy water when the bass can only see 6 inches in front of them opposed to 25 feet? Just the thought of a crankbait wizzing past there face would make them react is what I thought.
  13. Bass Pro Shops: Much more of a variety of lures and baits Make good rod and reels Focus of fishing for there main selling Cabela's: Less of a variety Make good quality rods Focus more on hunting than fishing in their sales Bottom line Bass Pro has more of a variety of everything especially bait and lures
  14. Seven Pounds The Dark Knight
  15. Shorts and a T-Shirt, topwater fishing :'( ;D
  16. Do you believe reaction strikes play more of a roll and happen more often in muddy and/or dark water opposed to clear water? What are your thoughts?
  17. Ive never tried this. I think it could go either way, good or bad. The only thing I can think of that I wouldnt like is I normally like big, bulky baits when fishing braid but it may be alright.

It looks pretty good, but wayyyyyy overpriced!
  19. Not a closet, but half of my bedroom ;D I have a rod rack, a bin of soft plastics, 2 tackle bags, reels in ziplocks, and 2 lure boxes. My parents think its great
  20. Its more of a quanity bait But you never know, we see small finesse worms catching double digit bass, why not finesse spinnerbaits!
  21. Im in the same boat as you. Structure to look for is creek channels, dropoffs, humps, points, holes, and other depressions. If you come across standing timber, brush piles, boulders and rockpiles, weed lines and other cover, they can also hold deep bass. A combination of both is the best. The main deep water techniques are deep crankbaits, carolina rigs, jigs, dropshotting, big spinnerbaits, and spoons.
  22. Yes your rod and reel will be fine.
  23. I always use a lure and technique that I can cover water with quickly and effectively. Such as: Crankbaits Burn a spinnerbait Jerkbaits Topwaters And even flipping and pitching if the situation is ideal (right weather and cover) I normally target shorline cover (brush, logs, rocks) and weeds first. I like weeds to be my first starting point. Finding the fish is always the toughest so once you do find them you can slow down and fish with soft plastics or a jig or your favorite technique. The key to establishing a pattern is to eliminate unproductive water and duplicate productive water.
  24. You picked great colors, and fish them weightless.
