  1. As long as a lure catches fish, I don't care what it looks like. I still have my very first lure, a silver Jitterbug thats about 6 years old, that has about half the paint gone and still catches me more fish than any of my other Jitterbugs. I would keep fishing them. For all we know, the fish might like them better with less paint.
  2. Googled SB822.5 for you and this came up http://www.schneidersrods.com/batson_2005%20new_forecast_blanks.htm Scroll down to to where it says 'Standard Graphite New "Spin Bass" Series' It says the SB822.5 is a 6'10" Medium Extra-Fast and it has lure and line weights listed as well

  4. Does anyone have any experience with these lures? I was just looking at them on *** and they look pretty good, and are not that pricey.
  5. Topwater: Chug Bug, Pop-r, Jitterbug Shallow: Shad Rap, DT Fat 03, Sub Wart Medium: Shad Rap, DT Deep: No such thing as "deep" where I fish
  6. Until now, I have only really used Rat-L-Traps, but I have already picked up some Aruku Shad, Red Eye Shad, Xr50, and am planning on picking up some Yo-Zuri's. I have heard good things about all of them.
  7. I don't know the answer to your question, but superglue works good for me to keep plastics on their hooks.
  8. For T-rigs and jigs, it allows you to pick up slack line faster and once you are through the strike zone, you can get the lure back to you for another cast that much faster. As a result, you can make more presentations and more casts throughout the day. With these techniques, you also work the lure with the rod, not the reel, so there is not the worry that you are reeling to fast and need to slow down as there is with cranks.
  9. I picked 2 up at Dick's Sporting Goods last night due to the recommendations here. They look great! Can't wait til the ice melts. >
  10. i use an AVC70MM too! I use it for all of my cranking, which is mostly shallow runners and lipless cranks, and its great for both.
  11. I would suggest a Shimano Convergence. I have two and they are nice for the money, and they have a Lifetime Warranty. I will say it before someone else does- DO NOT GET AN UGLY STICK
  12. I have a Techna AV AC66MHF and I like it a lot, but it is really the only rod in that price range I have fished, and I got it on sale at Amazon.com last summer for like $78.
  13. I have a St Croix Premier and like it, but with the Mojo's now out I would try one of them. The Mojo's use the same blank, so they are probably very similar.
  14. I usually throw 5" senkos, but this is what I use: Fenwick Techna AV 6' 6" MH Fast Cabela's XMLTi Jig n Worm Rod 6' 6" MH Fast I like a 6' 6" MH Fast rod for senkos ;D Edit- Sorry,I didn't pay attention. The rods I listed are casting, I almost always throw my plastics on those two rods. For spinning, I think my St Croix 7' M Fast Premier would do a fine job.
  15. Just thought this thread would be helpful for those looking to buy a new rod, much like I am. I was wondering what the extents of the warranties are for various rod manufacturers, specifically the higher end models. So far, this is what I've gathered: St Croix- Limited Lifetime; $50 replacement fee, no questions asked G Loomis- Limited Lifetime; $50 replacement fee, no questions asked Shimano- Limited Lifetime on all(?) rods, over the counter replacement(?) Please correct me if anything is incorrect. I wasn't sure about the OTC Shimano policy, but have read it more than once.
  16. I don't have have a telescopic flipping stick, but I have a 6'6" Techna AV MHF and it I love it. Haven't used an HMG, but the Techna is a very good rod.
  17. Just wondering, how much was shipping to send the rods to back to St Croix for replacement? I also just purchased a ES66MF thinking that it would have the reel seat pictured on the site. I wouldn't mind spending a little extra to get the new model, though. Can't wait till it arrives
  18. Can't you see that they just folded it to save some room? ;D I havent had a rod broke in shipping, but i have had a taped tube where i guess it split or something. Rod was fine though
  19. thats a good one ;D
  20. and i thought this was a metallica thread ;D
  21. ;D ;D ;D pretty funny
  22. i would also buy a cheaper reel and a nicer rod,
