  1. The Smallmouth Bass (Micropterus dolomieu) aka Brown Bass, is a fascinating and highly sought-after game fish, renowned for its spirited fight and captivating beauty. Found predominantly in North America, this remarkable species thrives in a variety of aquatic environments, including clear, rocky streams, and deeper, cool waters of lakes and reservoirs. As a prized catch among anglers, the Smallmouth Bass has captivated the hearts of many, inspiring a fervent passion for sport fishing and a deep appreciation for the richness of freshwater ecosystems. I did a similar thread last season, https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/252116-top-5-brown-bass-of-2022/ And even though this year is technically not 'over', my personal hunt for these beauties most certainly is. Got 2 inches of snow on the ground this morning with plenty more on the way. So the final stats for 2023 were, fish at 5.66lbs, 5.68lbs, 5.84 lbs 5.98 lbs, and big fish of the year was 6.06 lbs For a top 5 weight of 29.22 lbs. Includes a 5.84 lb average and is 6.7 oz lighter than last years best 5 smallies. Interestingly, all these brutes were caught between the 3rd week in Apr and the 1st week in May. And ALL on jerkbaits. (more on that in the up coming 'Most Productive Baits' thread. And while I was most fortunate to tangle with and land several very respectable smallies though Aug, Sept & early Oct, none of them had the tonnage needed to displace any fish on the list above. And so there it is. Another one in the books. Looking forward to next season as I've been scouting hard some new to me versions of Lake Menderchuck. Early next season will prove if my efforts & instincts pay off or not. Finally, it's a long winter, so please add any & all of the your own brown bass pictures here. The addiction is real. 15. I'll keep posting this is these threads. Perhaps one or two folks will 'believe it' and take it to heart. There's always a few extremes cases of remarkable survivability in cold water. However the grim reality is that there are far more losses of life. Stay Safe A-Jay

  17. This pic is actually a couple of years old and doesn't exactly reflect the current deal. My gear has been assembled of the course of the last 16 years. Some of these have been replaced with others and there has been some 'additions'. When I lay them all out for 'cleaning' over the winter I'll get an updated pic. It always makes me smile when guys tell me that they show pics of my gear to their wives. I'm usually showing my wife puppy pictures. Fish Hard A-Jay
  18. When reading posts regarding night fishing, those of us with 'some' experience doing it, can always identify others that do as well. It's so much different, and marginally addicting. A-Jay
  19. It's certainly appreciated. We need all the support we can get. So Thank You A-Jay
  20. You may need to rely on a 'Duty Driver'. Have someone drive you to the ramp, launch your rig and then pick you up at a designated time & place the next morning. Now that's an All Nighter. Good Luck A-Jay
  21. Still waiting on the bone marrow biopsy test results. In the mean time, one of the infections that landed Lynn in the hospital for a month, is back. Stat blood test first thing in the morning, and then they'll formulate a treatment plan. Caught this one much earlier than last go around because we knew what to look for. Hope that pays off some how. Inner strength may be a skill but my emotions are about to go on auto pilot. Stay Healthy A-Jay
  22. What's this budget you speak of ? A-Jay
