Update ~ When we last left our heroine, we were waiting, quite nervously, for a few different test results. In the meantime there's been some degradation of health as a result of medication removals, changes, additions and an infection. Been in contact with a couple of very trusted Dr's and treatment is on going. We had an important appointment today. Long story short, Lynn's bone marrow is NOT THE Problem ! Big Relief. Admittedly, going into this one we were both expecting a fairly dire diagnosis, but instead were pretty much floored by the polar opposite. Lynn's still a sick puppy, but the prognosis at least for the near future might not be too bad, No hospitalization for now. Which with a non-existent immune system is good. Those places are a virtual petri dish of nothing good. Discussed how & when to expect this infection to subside as well as future plans as far as treatment is concerned. Also although we may not admit it often, in advance of the fish hitting the scales, I'm pretty sure we can both 'guesstimate' to within a few ounces, one way or the other, what that 'type' of brown bass will weight. Got 2 inches of snow on the ground this morning with plenty more on the way. So the final stats for 2023 were, fish at 5.66lbs, 5.68lbs, 5.84 lbs 5.98 lbs, and big fish of the year was 6.06 lbs For a top 5 weight of 29.22 lbs. Includes a 5.84 lb average and is 6.7 oz lighter than last years best 5 smallies. Interestingly, all these brutes were caught between the 3rd week in Apr and the 1st week in May. And ALL on jerkbaits. (more on that in the up coming 'Most Productive Baits' thread. And while I was most fortunate to tangle with and land several very respectable smallies though Aug, Sept & early Oct, none of them had the tonnage needed to displace any fish on the list above. And so there it is. Another one in the books. Looking forward to next season as I've been scouting hard some new to me versions of Lake Menderchuck.
