Best jig head for muck/algae bottoms
If there were bass living in the algae & muck on the bottom, then I would definitely fish it. But IME, there never is. So I fish something that will NOT Penetrate it or sink down into it. Like a heavy jig will;regardless of design. I do fish a place that has a very soft bottom. Lots of decaying weed and muck. A light punch rig works fantastic. Looks like a jig. Fishes like a jig and even catches fish like a jig. But when I use a super light (1/8 oz) LEAD weight, a skirt & a style of plastic that is rigged in a manner that allows the entire rig to "glide" over the bottom cover rather than "Plunge" into it. I get bites. A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Total Body 3 this morning. Completed 3 working sets of six basic movements. Showing two sets of each here. Felt better than my last workout as I had considerable more gas in the tank. Still fishing around for the right groove on the shoulder press, but we'll get there. Taking Two Days Off #borninfiftynine btw - if you're one of the hundred or so folks who visit this thread and you're currently not on some kind of regular exercise program, but you're thinking about it, know this. It's NEVER too late to start; regardless of age. First one's the toughest, and then you build from there. Don't wait another day ! A-Jay

My boat is a mess
Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. I hadn't been 'sick' in a few decades but ended up with Covid last May. Right in the middle of pre-spawn here. Total bummer. Either way, I tried to 'fight through it" too. Big mistake IMO. It kicked my A$$ ~ for almost a month. Ended up in the local ER dehydrated & completely toasted. I say let your body do it's thing and heal. But sit back, it might be a heck of a ride that lasts a while. And remember your super contagious so don't hook anyone else up. Good Luck. A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Total Body 2 this morning. Excessive snow removal operations yesterday combined with some personal life stress, didn't leave much in the tank for this one. It happens. Did what I could. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

have you ever wondered why?
I've asked myself that a few times. But what I really find hard to believe, is that all bass anglers don't like all the same things I like. What's up with that ? A-Jay

Just bought my first boat and I need cleaning advice
I wash & wax my Lund 1875 Pro-V Bass rig 3 or 4 times a year depending on use. Preferred wash is Meguiar's M4364 Marine/RV Boat Wash https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Marine-RV-Boat-Wash/dp/B0000AXVCB/?tag=marinetalking-20&th=1 Preferred wax is Klasse and it's actually a super easy to use and really effective All in on polish. http://klasseusa.com/kalsse-all-in-one.html https://www.autogeek.net/klasseallinone.html Between washing's and after every trip (while it's still wet), I wipe the entire exterior (except the seats) with Boat Bling Hot Sauce. Spray it on, wipe it off. I have a black hull that's prone to water spots. This vinegar based product has been a god send. Spot are a thing of the past now. https://www.amazon.com/Boat-Bling-HS-Premium-Remover/dp/B006GWVBQ8/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=26Y6R3TGVLT7K&keywords=boat%2Bbling&qid=1677190836&sprefix=boat%2Bbling%2B%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-3-spons&smid=A1Z8PMDHY6RP52&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzS0dHOFNQVkpYNVZLJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjAwNzQyMk9TRktVVEJXVjhEUCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTc4NzA1M1ZHQ1dPOFdENlhMRyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1 I buy the gallon. I prefer to fish from a clean rig. It takes some continued time, $$$ & effort to maintain the level I prefer, But I'm very willing to do it. Hope that helps A-Jay

Your Starting Lineup
I have a bit of a wait myself. But I'll be ready when the time comes. Very first trip, is perhaps my easiest bait selection dilemma of the entire season. Boils down to some type of jerkbait and some type of vibrating jig. And if open water is 'early' enough, water temps stay cool enough and I get some reasonably fisherman friendly weather conditions, that one to punch can (and has) accounted for many plus size brown bass for me for several weeks. #fishhard https://youtu.be/o9xew3tWuuU?t=1398 A-Jay

Winter 2022-23
We're getting a little hammered with cold & snow. Several inches yesterday & overnight with more expected all day today. The clean up operations with not commence until Fri/Sat. In the mean time, we'll just wade through it best we can. Another round of snow coming next week. Getting more snow later in the winter this time around. I'll try and snap a pic while I'm out with the dogs this morning. A-Jay
