  1. Nice ~ But it must be a bear getting it in the live well in the first place ! A-Jay
  2. Dead bass are always a bummer. I can certainly respect different opinions on the subject, however I do not share them all. I have a live well and while always following all legal guidelines, I do use it on occasion. Clearly, there's a difference between use & abuse. Used responsibly, it's not a death sentence. 9. If they were caught from deep water, retained in a live well and then released, that might explain it. #barotrauma A-Jay

  13. Figures ~ Red Sox-Yankees game Thursday postponed Following positive COVID-19 tests within the New York Yankees organization, Thursday night's game between the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium has been postponed to allow for continued testing and contact tracing. Major League Baseball will continue to provide scheduling updates as available. Stay Safe. A-Jay
  14. Big fish for sure ~ First glance I thought DD anyway. But there's no way to really know with some type of perspective. Is the angler 7' 4" or 4' 7" ? Could make a difference . . . Either way, bet it did a good job of filling up that net ! ? A-Jay

How about Gas prices ? We're creeping up on $4 a gal for super & rec gas. btw, beef is another one for sure ? A-Jay
  16. Interesting situation ~ Couple thought come to mind. First to answer your question, yes, IME brown bass often do venture shallow during both cool water periods BUT beyond the spawn, it's always relate to food. They just don't hang out in the skinny stuff for fun. No food (here it's mostly perch, crayfish, goby and a few pelagic type minnows) there almost no chance they will be around. Additionally, when trying to compare them to green bass and to help 'figure them out'. Perhaps this will help; Where a Green bass will sit next to or perhaps inside cover and 'wait' to ambush a meal in skinny water. Despite a few smallies taken of docks and the like, the biggest brown bass are usually not doing that. (btw my waters have ZERO docks that hold any fish, green or brown). Instead she will Hunt (often in packs) - so she's on the move until she finds what she's looking for. How far depends on the season; warmer water, she'll travel a ways, often a long ways. Cooler water not so much. This is what makes that time of year more productive for us. It also means that very often, unless we know where the bait is, we're looking for a moving target. In the end, my quest for these elusive beasts begins & ends with looking for whatever I think the Brown bass are looking to eat; and then, I camp. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 17. Yup ~ Part of the deal I guess. I try to set it up so I'm 'fishing' my way down through them. Of course, it doesn't always work out that way and by mid-morning both the front & back decks have rigs strewn all over them. A-Jay
  18. Two of three of these old school deals can surely make that task quite a bit easier ~ https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Taylor_Made_Hot_Spot_Fishing_Marker_Buoy/descpage-HSFM.html A-Jay
  19. That's the easy part I suppose. I really do prefer to Pre-Rig in advance of getting to the water. At this point in the season, when I'm planning a first light hunt for Brown bass, and accounting for the weather forecast, the hard part is deciding what to tie on. I'm going tomorrow and it's forecast to be calm, so there's a few topwater baits set up which is where I hope to start. Be great if that lasted a while but that deal is usually over an hour after sunrise. Next selection will be determined by how the start of the morning goes (usually if & what bait is around), that can help me choose what & perhaps more importantly where to focus my efforts. This most recent load includes but may not be limited to: Top waters, drop shots baits, spy baits, shallow cranks, swim jigs, Vibrating jig, Spinnerbaits, jerkbait, A-Rigs, structure jig/craw, and some type of Texas rigged plastic. I probably forgot something but that seems pretty close. A-Jay Oh' it's coming. Perhaps keep an eye on that Flea Market forum. Once I get back from Lake Baccarac, (Late Oct) There is a very good possibility we'll see some of that action. #seriousdumping A-Jay
  20. Took a while but yesterday I competed a total Re-Rig ~ New main lines & leaders where needed, and some of them definitely needed. After sliding them back into the Lund I realized I had set a new personal best at 28. I may have a problem. A-Jay
  21. This is a big deal ~ Duran should be officially activated for the series opener -- the only game in MLB on Thursday -- The Rookie will join Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts as Red Sox prospects to debut at Yankee Stadium. No Pressure. The Red Sox are going to need a corresponding roster move to replace Marwin Gonzalez, (Hammy) He's been really bad in the box. Enter Duran, remains to be seen exactly how manager Alex Cora will deploy Duran for the start of his Major League career. Kiké Hernández has been Cora’s primary option both in the leadoff spot and in center field this season. One option would be for the versatile Hernández to get most of his playing time at second base -- the position the Red Sox originally signed him to play. Christian Arroyo could start at second against lefties and Hernández could go back to the outfield versus southpaws, with either Duran or fellow left-handed hitter Alex Verdugo getting a breather. Hernández has been providing a spark for the Red Sox in the leadoff spot of late, particularly with home runs, so it’s possible he remains there and Cora eases the pressure on Duran by having him hit lower in the lineup. If he hits at all this line up gets even Longer, I like it. However things shake out, this four-game series against the Yankees will now have an added element of electricity for the American League East-leading Red Sox, who are 1 1/2 games ahead of the Rays. The Yankees, who are 0-6 against Boston this season, are eight games back. I like that too. Boston (55-36) has built its strong start without ace pitcher Chris Sale, who is expected to return from Tommy John surgery in mid-August. Very exciting but a little nervous at the same time. Baseball is summer for me and has been for as long as I can remember. A-Jay
  22. Agreed ~ What’s my team need? Just keep beating NY and I'm good. A-Jay

  24. Thanks ~ Lake Menderchuck is fairly fertile. Did not weigh any of these fish and the only one I actually got a length on was the Musky which was 48".
