To anyone that owns both the Shimano SLX AND SLX XT reel
Really wish they had used LH retrieves in stock, that's an awesome deal. I have a few of the original SLX but would love to try the XT.

Wow, I'd never buy a Kistler again.

Wacky Rig Senko= Finesse?
Yes, I would call it Finesse. I fish them on a MXF spinning rod.

Fishing cold water in early spring advice?
I caught several last week on a warm day, mid 50's. Caught them on a flat sided crankbait and baby advantage jig with rage tail trailer.

Return of the XCalibur Squarebill
Yeah, they'll work great in some shallow creeks/rivers I fish. Just wish they ran a little deeper. I did remove the factory split ring as I do on all my cranks. I use a crankbait snap.

Fishing farm ponds in early spring
I fished one yesterday and caught them on a 5/16 baby advantage jig with rage craw trailer and a few on a 75x crankbait.

Spring Senko Size?
I might need to give 3" a shot this summer in the creek. What hook do you use and favorite color?
-
Spring Senko Size?
99% of the time I fish a 5" Senko. The other 1% is in the creeks, when I'll sometimes use a 4".

Return of the XCalibur Squarebill
Was able to get out yesterday evening and fish from the bank for a couple hours. I know it's a little different fishing from the bank but these run VERY shallow, and definitely not the advertised 1-4 ft. The action is very erratic but just couldn't get them deep enough. Kind of disappointed especially since I bought quite a few.

Shimano Expride or Poison Adrena spinning rod for TR weightless Senko
Thank you sir! Have you fished both the Expride and Poison? I'm curious if it's worth the extra $ for the Poison. Yes, the 6'7 ML looks like it would be underpowered for a 5" senko and the 4/0 EWG I use. Thanks, have you fished both the Expride and Poison? Yes, I agree, if I go with the Poison I'll be going with the 6'11 MH.

Shimano Expride or Poison Adrena spinning rod for TR weightless Senko
I currently have a spinning setup that I only use for 4" or 5" texas rigged or wacky rigged weightless Senkos. It's a St. Croix Avid X 68MXF paired with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500. It's been great and I've landed some nice fish on the setup, but the reel seat hurts my hand after a long period of time. I'd like to upgrade to a Shimano Expride or Poison Adrena but would like some advice from those in the know. I'm looking at shorter rods which I prefer for this technique so I think the Expride 68mxf would be best. Now, on the Adrena, I'm confused, what is the best length and power rod for weightless Senkos? 611mh?

High Viz Braid w/o a leader?
I'm thinking about trying it on my Ned rig specific setup in the creek this summer.

Braid on crankbait rod?
I tried it once and I'll never go back. I much prefer Mono on my crankbait setups. I'm actually thinking of trying 10 or 12lb Yo-zuri hybrid this year.

How do I not get a rats nest in my reel
Yeah, 6lb co-poly is wayyyy too small diameter line on a baitcaster, especially your first one.

Return of the XCalibur Squarebill
Haha, gotcha. ? I see you're in Eastern KY so I assume you'll be coming to the Cabelas here in Lexington? If so, you might want to hurry as I was there the day before the sale (last Wednesday) and they put them out early. They were going pretty quick so I went back Thursday and bought more. I think the Spring Classic sale ends on April 1st so these should be on sale until then. I might go out there again today or tomorrow and grab some more.

Return of the XCalibur Squarebill
Bummer, mine had quite a few Rayburn Reds but hardly any Chartreuse/Black back. Oh, and are you a Phan too? I ask because of your username. lol

Return of the XCalibur Squarebill
My Cabelas put them out a day early so I grabbed a few. So far they look good, hope to try them tomorrow. You can't beat them for $3 IMO. Only annoying thing it they had them all in a huge, deep dump bin with all colors and sizes mixed together. I had to dig forever to find what I wanted. Unfortunately the black back Chartreuse was hard to find and selection was scarce. I would have bought more of that color if they had any. Untitled by Caleb Bender, on Flickr

Kayak Fishing This Weekend?
I'm hoping to hit the lake tomorrow! It rained all day here today with temps in the mid-upper 30's. Of course it was nice and low 60's yesterday while I was stuck at work.

Hmmmm...... tempted to pull the trigger on another Legend Glass.

Excalibur Square Bill
Just left Cabelas and they had them out for sale. Bought a bunch of both the 100 and 200 sizes. Only annoying thing is they had them in a huge dump bin all mixed together (colors and sizes) so I had to rummage through it forever to find colors and sizes.

Best all aroung Jig
Agreed, I really like D&L baby advantage and advantage jigs. Especially since they're a local company and are easy to find at my local tackle shops.

Hair Jig and Ned Head high end Rod...
I'm a self proclaimed St. Croix fan boy and still own quite a few of their rods and they are used everytime I go out. But, at the same time after buying an NRX it's on an entirely different level than any St. Croix rod I've ever fished or owned. YMMV
