  1. Hmmmm, 34 and sleet in Houston and its going to hit 60 today around DC. What's wrong with this picture? :-?
  2. Another one of the few Quantum loyals here. I have several of the older model Accurists and like them alot. I decided to move up to the Energies when the newer model Accurists came out (no issues with the Accurist, just like the Energy a little better) so I can't comment on the Burner Accurist. The only issue I've had with any of my Accurists was from operator error (ReelMech helped me on that issue). For the price, I'd say you made a great choice! My only suggestion would be to have it cleaned and relubed to remove that Hot Sauce. Not a fan of it!
  3. Wow! That had to have been one heck of a beast! The musky that I've caught this time of year have been very lethargic and I've been able to land them in a short time on spinning tackle. Hopefully, you get another shot at that one and land her! Good luck if you do make it out!
  4. Looks great Glenn! Thanks for your hard work!!!!!!
  5. I'd leave them there. I went through the Risto Rap craze when they came out, I think I picked up every model they came out with in a 4 or 5 colors. To date, I've caught one fish on them, a 33 inch musky (and that wasn't even a keeper! LOL!). While they don't run the deepest (12-15'), I've had a lot of luck with BPS XPS Laser Eye Nitro Extreme crank.
  6. For most of my spinnerbait fishing I like 17lb Suffix Siege in Smoke Green. If I'm dealing with gin clear water, I'll switch up to BPS XPS flurocarbon, also 17lb test.
  7. Hopefully, my little brother (Mobydick) will see this thread! He should be able to put up some good drawings!
  8. I'm still fishing. I was out over the weekend on the upper Potomac looking for some smallie action. Unfortunately, both my partner and I got skunked. The Potomac was running at 36 degrees so I would guess that most other bodies of water would be somewhere close to that right now (unless you have a warm water inflow advantage). Congrats on the 2 pounder! Sorry to hear about the big one! What ended up happening? Did the line break or did the hook straighten out? My guess would be it could have been a huge cat, maybe a big toothy critter. But my experience with them in these temperatures is the fight isn't anywhere near like it is in warmer temps and they tire out extremely quickly.
  9. Cheapest I've found around my place here in MD is $1.69. Most places are running $1.75 or higher.
  10. I do, but technically its for another thread. I fish a small series on a lake in south central PA. There used to be a big bass format tournament at Black Hills but its been a few years since I've heard anything about that and a couple more years since I've fished it.

    "They've gone plaid!" ;D
  12. Just thought I'd throw this out there. The Maryland Fishing Expo is scheduled for January 8th through the 11th, 2009 in Timonium, MD at the State Fair grounds. The only big name pro that I saw on the seminar schedule was Peter T.
  13. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense tagging along with someone. Since I had my outboard stolen almost 2 years ago, my boat is primarily set up for electric only lakes but there are a couple of spots in Washington county where the current isn't too bad and I can put my boat in there. I do have to monitor the current flows though. MskSlyr and I put my boat on one time in the spring and I hadn't checked the levels for a while. We killed my primary battery, used up my backup and ended up having to use my accessory battery to make it back the last 100 yards to get back to the ramp. There's a boat ramp atlas for MD that's on the DNR site. Just click on the county and it will give you a listing of the ramps for that county. Glad I could help you out!
  14. MDbassinmike, The only two warm water areas that I know of in MD are in Williamsport (Washington county) and Dickerson (Montgomery county). They'd be a little bit of a hike for you. The only one I've hit lately has been the one in Dickerson. The levels have been pretty low so far and I've only managed a few dinks smallies there so far. I wish we'd get enough rain to bring the levels up about 2', that would really help that area out! I did manage a decent largemouth out of the C&O canal down there. Bad Fish, Are you fishing Liberty from shore or a boat? I put my boat on Liberty once and found out the hard way that you need a special permit to put a boat on there. Found out from DNR as I was coming off the lake. Luckily, he was pretty cool about it and let me go without a citation. If you don't know, or to others that might not be aware, once you have that permit you're restricted in the waters you can use your boat because of the zebra muscles.

You know GMAN, When I saw the date on the first post on this thread, I though, ummm, "someone else" revived the thread. ;D You're right though! GREAT forum indeed! It's defenitely not said enough, thank you Glenn!
  16. I had all of last week off but only managed to get out one day. Hit the upper Potomac for some smallie action near one of the warm water discharge areas near me. The smallie action was rather slow. Only managed 5 little dinks. One my way out, I fished part of the C&O canal that I've caught a handful of largemouths before. I managed this 20 incher on a t-rigged Strike King stick bait. My digital scale weighed her at 4lbs 4oz.
  17. Is there a difference between NOAA and USGS information regarding the flow information? I've been using the USGS information for fishing the Potomac but they keep eliminating the gauges I use. >
  18. Born and raised in PA but moved just slightly south. ;D I still fish alot of my old waters (as long as it isn't a certain stretch of the Juniata) LOL! The waters in PA I fish/ed include Walker, Cowans Gap, Meadow Grounds, Little Buffalo, Marburg, Pinchot, Howard, Long Pine. Shawnee, Opposum and the Juniata.
  19. You can also go to Quantumfishing.com. There's a tool on their site that will let you search for local Quantum dealers.
  20. Ok MD! Our turn to step! As a couple of you may remember, we had a pretty active thread going before the last site upgrade. Unfortunately, some of the threads were deleted and could not be recovered and the MD thread was one of them. As for me, I'm live in Williamsport and work in Germantown. I obviously fish the upper Potomac for smallies and get to fish Little Seneca Creek (Black Hills) which is my lunch time spot when weather permits! I also fish Cunningham Falls, Greenbrier, Big Pool and Blairs Valley and several ponds around the area too. Now that the cooler weather has hit, you'll find me from time to time fishing the power plants in Williamsport and Dickerson. I also cross the Mason Dixon line to fish a few places in south central PA (but that's for another thread!), LOL! I do a fair amount of fishing from shore but I do have a jon boat that I have set up mostly for electric only lakes. The "old" thread wasn't only a place to introduce yourself but a place to trade info too! Alrighty then MD! Who's next?
  21. I haven't seen any yet myself. The fishing calendar I have at work is a page-a-day style calendar with fishing facts and stories in it. Workman Publishing published the one I have. The only down side with it is, its fresh and saltwater. It's still pretty interesting though.
  22. I remember reading about this before. I wish I could have seen the Environmental Quality rep's face when he read the reply! ;D
  23. They're a Johnson/Evinrude dealer and repair shop. I've bought a few things from them. I haven't had a bad experience with them yet! Here's a map of where they are: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=AB+Seas+marine,+frederick,+MD&fb=1&cid=0,0,9212421974019081116&sa=X&oi=local_result&resnum=1&ct=image
  24. Have you checked with AB Seas in Frederick? They might be able to help you out locally. If not there, I'd check on EBay.
  25. You mean there's more than one flavor? I thought they only came in BLUEBERRY! ;D BLUEBERRY right out of the wrapper for me!
