  1. I wouldn't, but the option is available. 5-1/2 years ago I dropped some serious coin on a Lund Predator 2010, side imaging, Talon etc. Many said I was foolish spending big money on an aluminum boat. For what the Ranger Icon costs, I could have bought 2 boats and hooked the trailers up with the finest KIA wheels around. That's 40'4" of boats, 450hp in motors, and 8 chromed out KIA spinners
  2. Accessories can still be had cheap. A basic color 2d graph can be had for a couple hundred bucks. One does not need $10K in graphs on his boat...But it sure is a nice addition. I saw a guy in a bay boat earlier this year who had a graph on his center console that could also play movies for the kids. I'd never own one but it sure is a neat idea.
  3. Were it not for all the R&D input done by professional fishermen, and the heavy heavy promotion, the prices wouldn't be so high. There are less expensive options for both boats, and their accessories. Many non professional anglers, especially the younger ones, fall into the mindset "If I don't buy the best of the best, I'll never make it past mediocre as an angler" Same reason if I spend $300 on a pair of Air Jordans, they will make me a better basketball player than a pair of $50 sneakers. Back to the original topic. Ranger's name means quality. It's earned its reputation in both the bass and multi-species market. If someone wants to, and has the means to pay $100k for a bass boat, more power to them.
  4. Bored are we, opening 6 year old threads? ? I was looking at bass boats at the time. A repo'd Ranger with 15 hours on it, but someone else scooped it up before I could arrange financing. A leftover Z9, but BPS refused to put a bigger motor on it. A used Charger in your neck of the woods, but the engine reports had a number of unexplained alarms Had there not been a Predator in a local showroom, for me to fall in love with, I would have ended up with a new 19ft Ranger.
  5. I have a 4 pounder on my wall I got 10 years ago. Caught a 6 pounder this spring. Her picture is on the wall and she's back in the lake. If I didn't already have a smallmouth on the wall the 6 pounder would be up there.
  6. Build him a go cart
  7. Hit Delavan this morning. Launched at 6:30 and there was probably already 100 trucks/trailers in the parking lot. The good news is the bass we caught were healthy and fat. Unfortunately we only caught 5 along with a couple pike and a bluegill that hit a popper. Action was shallow. No bites in anything deeper than 8fow.
  8. I find it's best to have no friends.
  9. I've got a LCP for pocket carry. I may go with 2, one for IWB and one for OWB. Haven't decided yet. OWB is going to be more comfortable but I will need to pick and choose my shirts. Thanks for the response
  10. Who'd ever thunk that a tuff ass Bostonian coast guard guy would become a hand model
  11. Why does it matter? If you are that worried about hurting a fish...Don't fish
  12. Bought a LCR 38sp, looking for holster recommendations. Buddy said go with Alien Gear. Any other suggestions?
  13. You can either use lag bolts or thru bolts. Thru bolts will be a more solid solution. You may need to stack a couple washers. Use a lockwasher and loctite on the threads
  14. Agreed.
  15. Unfortunately a battery powered angle grinder will make most locks ineffective if the thief really wants it. Best we can do is make it difficult as possible
  16. A good whack with a 5 pound sledge will break any lock made of hardened steel.
  17. There is Ipilot and Ipilot Link. Ipilot works independently. Ipilot Link works in conjunction with Humminbird and Lakemaster products.
  18. If you can move the navigational light back, you can parallel the port(left) gunwale with the base and when the motor is deployed it will be at the nose on the starboard(right) side
  19. 1,000,000lbs
  20. Just a little leftover from when they drilled the holes for the bracket, and/or from the pins rubbing when you put them back into place.
  21. Don't need to add nothing. It's foam. Had it in my Lund.
  22. You must be good with your hands to get a little can so exited.? Got that crap in my hair once. Had to go to the barber and get a haircut.
  23. I'm sure I'll jump ship when I retire
  24. It may not be viable in your state. It is in fact implemented in IL http://www.revenue.state.il.us/Individuals/Illinois-Use-Tax.htm IL also imposes this tax in between counties. So If I buy a boat or a car in Lake County IL but I live in Cook County IL, I need to pay the difference.
