My son is deathly afraid of lightning. Me, not so much. We were fishing a tournament when a storm passed thru. We hid in a channel off the lake but continued fishing. We watched lightning strike a tree about 50 yards from us. To me, it was like "Holy Sh**!" to him it was like I don't understand am I doing here. I've had him ditch me on the bank more than once fishing during a storm. Drop him off on shore until the storm passes and then pick him up. I got caught in a storm on Lake Michigan almost 30 years ago. I was salmon fishing with my son who was maybe 5 at the time. I misjudged timing on the storm and was about a mile or two from the marina when the storm let loose. I was in my dad's 26' Pro Line walk around. The sky went black and I was dealing with, 8'-10' waves. Had the kid hide in the cabin. I saw sky and water for the trek back to the marina praying every second that we would make it back alive. We were soaked head to toe when we docked. Kid had no idea how bad the situation was. I had promised him earlier that we would sleep in the cabin of the boat, not at the summer home. We went back to the summer home, dried off, and slept in the cabin of the boat that evening. It was the only time in my life I was truly scared I was going to die. Mind you, I've been held up at gunpoint twice living in Chicago. Lake Michigan was scarier than a gun.

I'm not a purest. Doesn't matter to me if numbers are matching. The old muscle car styling is what appeals to me. I was driving home from work today and saw an old split bumper Camaro on a flatbed. I had to turn my head. Had a buddy growing up with a 1970 GTO Judge. Crazy how fast and unsafe that car really was. If and when I have enough spare change to get a muscle car or two, a shoebox Nova, a 67-69 Camaro, a 72 Cutlass convertible, or a 72 Catilina is in my sights. The next door neighbor of one of my coworkers has a 72 Catilina convertible sitting in his driveway. It was his dad's and it hasn't moved since his dad passed away. I made a blind offer a couple months ago and the guy won't sell.

Yeeahhh...no With all the technology available today, things should be more accurate. We can somewhat accurately predict a hurricane. I get that. We cannot predict tornadoes. I get that. Why we can't accurately predict wind and rain is beyond me.

Chicago is not as bad as people think. BUT, you should always be prepared. I've dealt with a number of people that were questionable, while fishing, but that was long before things are the way they are today. I carry daily, work, fishing, grocery shopping, etc, 20 years ago I didn't care, attitude and fists solved most problems.

I can't set the hook on a jig anymore, since I tore up my shoulder. Haven't been able to in 10 years. Missing fish is one thing. Being ridiculed by my son for my hookset, or lack there of, is priceless.

Certainly was with my mom. Dad's problem is he still thinks he's a young buck at 82. I see him winding down more than he see's himself winding down. I keep telling him to take it easy but, he's going out with a bang. Dad was serving brats and beer in Wisconsin at a fall festival this past weekend in the cold and rain. I hope to have his enthusiasm if I make it to his age.

Dad is 82 and covers up every time we go fishing and never worked outside a day in his life. Mom was sick with cancer for a couple years before she passed and it took dad up until about 6 months ago to really get to what I would call healthy again. Her sickness drained him. She stopped eating so he stopped eating. He ignored his own health issues because he was taking care of her. He almost died on the table having prostate surgery 6 months after she passed and his prostate is acting up again. He's accepted the fact that he is on the way out as have I and my siblings. Whatever his fate holds, I want it to be peaceful. That's what plays in my head. I don't want to see him in pain. Hope is a powerful drug. Mom IMO, did a lot of needless suffering because of hope. Nothing against old people, I'm getting up there. All their "life ending" plans had dad going first. Mom passing threw a wrench into the gears. My sister was a huge help when mom was sick. We divided up responsibilities taking care of both mom and dad. My brother is an OTR truck driver and is never around. My sister has since moved out of state. Dads care is all on me, which is fine. I'm fortunate my employer will give me all the leeway I need. Sorry for the ramblings. I just have all sorts of old and new thoughts going thru my mind. Mom being the main thought. Dad being diagnosed with the big C has rekindled old thoughts.

Do you have a title? I don't know about NY but in IL, without a title, you'll have to apply for a title with the hull ID# The DNR will run the number to verify it wasn't stolen and then issue a title and registration. The trailer gets titled thru the DMV

Dad called yesterday. Got results from a biopsy he had last week. He has skin cancer. He's at the end of his run and mom passed from heart cancer 2-1/2 years ago. Not looking for sympathy, just looking for solace if he's around for another month or 10 years. It's been a good run for him. Doc says the cancer is slow growing. After going thru this with my mother, I know he's not going to go thru any treatment for the cancer. I wouldn't expect him to

Done it plenty of times. Cut the fillets into scallop size pieces, wrap with bacon, put on skewers and grill over indirect heat.

Yes. 8lb test on a medium light spinning rod, in a harbor, with boats and docks gets quite interesting. Not as much a workout as pulling them out of 100ft of water. I fought her for about 10 minutes. 20lb class fish. Caught her on the skien I pulled out of the salmon I caught a couple weeks ago. She took (2) 50 yards runs and was spent until she saw the net.
