B.a.s.s. Bans The Alabama Rig
Side imaging/down imaging is unfair for the fish. Scents are unfair to the fish. Rattles are unfair to the fish. Live bait is unfair to the fish. Boats are unfair to the fish. Awww hell. Let's just ban fishing all together. I mean, it's certainly not fair for a bass to be tricked into eating a pretend fish, is it? I stated in another thread "Maybe we should catch the fish with our bare hands or our teeth as that would be the only REAL way to show off a fishermans skill." No? No disrespect Raider, but what does it matter if you release a fish immediatly or at the end of the day 5 miles from where it was caught(spawn not included) Fish will seek food and cover. They have an instinct to survive. They're not going to just hang out where they are released and die if no one comes around and feeds them. As many of us know a "good spot" is a good spot. Good spots replenish themselves. AND all the fish are being released during these tourneys. Everybodys freaking out. Why? The fish are still going back in the water. It's just another tool. Can't wait for open water!

What Would You Guys Do In This Situation?
Agree and disagree. I agree "a little flash is the key""speed and presentation are probably most important" I disagree "a color that stands out from the crowd" RW, You are still throwing a shad or bluegill pattern. What about that stands out from the crowd? Standing out from the crowd would be throwing a bubblegum senko on a scrounger jig. It may work as far as causing a reaction strike, but the OP is not looking for a reaction strike, he is trying to catch feeding fish. If you're in the mood for a hamburger and there are McDonalds, Burger King, White Castle, and (insert burger joint here) restaurants on every block are you going to go to the China Buffet? Probably not. You will choose the burger joint that is most appealing to you. I do not believe a fish has an intelligence level that matches a human, nor do I believe they have any kind of ability to reason. I do however believe their instincts will overpower any decisions their tiny brain makes. If something doesn't look right while they are feeding they are not going to try and eat it, may even get spooked and swim away. The clearer the water the more prevalent this will be. On the other hand, If the bass feels threatened there is a good chance he's going to attack the bait. As I stated earlier, OP is not looking for a reaction strike. And congrats on being the best fisherman in the world

Bucket Fisherman
They have no regards for size or limit restrictions. Keep everything they catch. Many fish without licenses. Also some will have a cooler in the car and transport their catch to the car. That way they won't get caught if the dnr is checking buckets.

Livewell Questions
Don't fill the livewell up all the way. My Mirrocraft has a similar setup but is located at the stern of the boat. If it overflows, it goes to the lowest part of the hull and is pumped out thru the bilge pump. Even if you bought a submersible pump it probably wouldn't keep up with the quick movements which are causing the current problem. Mine only does it, if I'm panfishing and my dad is in the back of the boat. He is the baitkeeper. If I need minnows and Igo to the back of the boat there's 500lbs of fishermen causing the list.

Alabama Rig
I wouldn't worry about the pros. I believe the "Bucketheads" would do more damage to a fishery with this rig than any sportfisherman.

Any Fishfinder Except Humminbird.
Currently have one HB and one Lowrance on the boat. No problems with either going on 8 years.

My First Rig. Tell Me What Ya Think.
If it doesn't catch fish you wasted your money. If it catches fish it's a wise investment. I wish you many happy days on the water.

I Hate Pigeons!
They never leave. They live/nest in alot of the rooftop HVAC/R equiptment I work on. I'll take being attacked by pigeons over an angry swarm of bees or wasps any day of the week Speaking of rats...I was doing some work at a restaurant recently. Pulling wire thru a drop ceilieng. I pop a ceiling tile and hear intermitant squeaking. Mouse crap all over the place. This is going on for about 1/2 hour driving me nuts. I finally saw Mickey, Minnie and the kids all stuck to a glue board. I was relieved. Didn't need to worry about being attacked.

Water Tight Storage Boxes
Water tight? What will you be storing? If it's a wallet, phone or camera a ziplok bag tucked in a "non" watertight case should work fine. Plano makes a box called the Deep Prolatch Stowaway and XL Prolatch Stowaway.

Brown Trout Tactics
Blow up a nightcrawler. Inject a nightcrawler with air to make it float, a couple splitshots12-18" from the hook. Tube jigs matching the forage species. Spawn sacs
