  1. Ya, I've watched enough nature videos to know how strong they are, there was no way I was about to poke it with my paddle! Oh and check this out!
  2. That stuff is actually pretty tight. this is another favorite
  3. Was going through my pictures from kayak fishing this year and I remember finding this bad boy He was just sitting by a clump of weeds about 10 feet from some reeds. I got pretty close to him to take a picture, but he didn't come at me or even really pay attention to me. Biggest one Ive ever seen. But I was talking to an old Native american woman and she had some snapping turtle claws and I told her about my story, and she was surprised I got that close and that it didnt kill me or take my kayak out. So my question is have you ever had a snapping turtle attack you?
  4. I freaking love this thread! Would like to see some more skirts though.
  5. KVD's bass strategies is really good. I've gotten about halfway through it and will probably read it again.
  6. Freaking money minnows......I bought like 3 packs and never caught a thing with them .
  7. Well good luck o ya Raider! http://www.showspan.com/UFD/Home.aspx Went there last year and got to meet and chat with KVD and see some new tackle ideas, plus just look at tackle in general haha. was very fun. Definitely going to go again. I also might do some Ice fishing in the UP so hopefully that will quell some of my need to catch fish.
  8. What ya starting out at raider? Im currently at 241, lookin to get down to 200 before the Guntersville roadtrip. I was at 280 in august and have kind of slowed down a bit. Starting back up again with exercise and eating right. Just started doing this royal tea detox thing and it's working pretty good. 1 cup everyday and been doing it for 3 days so far and lost 3lbs, so 1lb (dunno how long that will continue). Only thing is it gives you the Hershey squirts.
  9. So what are you guys doing this winter to stave off the cabin fever? Here is my list -Make spinnerbaits, jigs and perhaps a jointed swimbait -Read KVD's bass strategies book -Watch KVD's Avanced spinnerbait DVD a several more times. -Read several other books on bassfishing -Also look through my 4 year stack off Bassmasters -Rig a fish finder on my kayak -Also put a camera mount on it -And lose 40lbs. That's what I got, for now. How about you guys?
  10. If your guy likes spinnerbaits, you cannot go wrong with these bad boys. http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-Soft-Wire-Doctor-Spinnerbait-Ko-Man-Chi-Combo-/280772830943?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item415f5d66df#ht_2484wt_1270
  11. Nearly all my soft plastics are some kind of green or brown, along with a few dark blues. Lake st.clair is a pretty clear lake and the natural color's are always what works for me. As for spinnerbaits, white or a bluegill pattern, just make sure the blade combo is right and you are good to go. Also, go here http://reddirtbaits....viewDoc&docId=7 and the third color in the top row is actually what caught most of my spinnerbait fish this year. Can't really speak for hardbaits but I was slaying the pike on yellow perch colored x-raps.
  12. What about from a kayak, anybody have a rig for taking pictures on one? I think I have another winter project
  13. Might ya know where I can buy some, without a skirt? Starting to make my own skirts and that style is perfect for my fishing. TW or BPS doesn't carry those styles and neither does Janns or barlows.
  14. So, guy's who have been to Guntersville before, what's the lake like? Water clarity, main forage, and any other details?
  15. Thanks man, a lot easier than separating them one by one haha.
  16. Ya I don't have a boat, but I would be willing to chip in to anybody offering a seat on a boat, since not only a truck but a truck with a boat, doesn't get amazing gas mileage.
  17. The blue one is very cool, haven't seen one like it before. And what is that head style called? Bet it would be really good for weeds.
  18. I would love to go to one of these. 12 hour drive from Michigan, but this would be more than worth it. Also, for you guys that will be driving, check this out: http://www.gasbuddy....Calculator.aspx Just entered in my info, $167.11 round trip. Not bad at all.
  19. Im looking to purchase some more skirt material for my first winter of spinnerbait making and I got the kit from Jann's. Along with the RR I got, I bought some silicone strips. But I was just wondering from you guys, which do you prefer? Does one move better in the water than the other? What about for jigs, RR or silicone? The only thing I dont like about RR so far is that I have to separate every single strand from the other one.
  20. Those look very nice! I bought a skirt making kit over the summer, didn't use it very much but now that cabin fever is setting in...
  21. They are the bomb, and they are more than just a color to me. A fellow fisherman gave me one of them along with a 3/0 hook and 1/16oz sinker when I first started fishing(I was using a zoom trick worm with a 1/0 hook and a 1/2oz sinker in 2 feet of water haha). Anyways, I caught about 10 fish on that one worm he gave me, I have no idea how it lasted that long but it did. And then I had a fish break it off. The very next day, I had my dad drive me to walmart to get some more. Kind of a sentimental thing. And that god awful, smell, always makes me remember that day
  22. And to keep me busy with my spinnerbait obsession...
  23. Those spinnerbaits are crap. The swivels rusted on me and don't spin as well and the hook, was not very sharp. Those $1 buzzbaits though, those are worth it after a little modification. And perhaps for you guys down there, they may be seasonal, but up here in Michigan. I catch fish on them all the time. Once you can get the blade combinations correct (based on water clarity and cloud cover) you catch a lot more.
