  2. This was not unexpected but dammit. In my 16+ years here he was always, and i mean always, willing to help. I had many conversations about fishing, life, and kids/grandchildren. I will miss you, my friend.

  6. This is a great read. It's a great primer to all things night fishing. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/176285-night-bassing-~-a-jays-version/

  9. Tommy, enjoy, when you can, every moment. A favorite in the tough times: "Nevertheless I am continually with you; you hold my right hand." This community was and is made greater because of you. Prayers always my friend.

I prefer the pop r but usually the p65 or on pressured fisheries the p60. The retrieve varies but usually pop pop pause or if walk it. The few times I change is when they are dirt shallow in the Spring and I usually move it with short pops and long pauses. It works. I have many folks tell me I'm crazy until they fish with me. I will caution about this: yes, you can spook shallow fish. Be as still as you can. Be ready as explosions will come out of nowhere, usually on the pause.
  13. I do it with casting gear quite a bit. I throw a drop shot on casting gear also.
  14. I use this a lot. From 0-9 it has literally caught 100's of fish for me.
  15. These and the flipping weights are all I have/need. 1/16 to 1 oz.

  19. A few here know I'm an assistant coach for a local high school fishing team. At our first meeting last year this one particular young man came in with a hoodie, long pants, longish hair, and kept his head down a lot. I thought a lot about this that night. I was fairly certain he wasn't involved in traditional sports and for whatever reason it thought there was a chance of bullying. Yes, a lot of supposition on my part. Fast forward to November of last year. We fished together as i do with each team member. His daddy was there too. He talked about school, a little about his social life, but generally about fishing. He is glad to be a part of a team. He plainly told me he's glad to find a place he fits. While there was some joy with in me, my heart also ached; I wondered about his life at school. He's shy, quiet, and respectful. We have fished several times and to say I'm glad he's part of the team would be an understatement. Many times being a volunteer is thankless, especially in a school system. But this young man has made every minute of this worth more than he will ever know. The point of all this and what led me to write it, is this: your impact on young people is more rewarding than any fish you catch. Here's a fish from November.
