Aaron Martens Scrounger Jig Head type baits - How do you fiish it?
I really like fishing scrounger heads with a fluke, or baby fluke on a 3/8 or 1/4 oz scrounger for bass. These are fairly weedless, so light weeds aren't a concern. you can swim them, as you would a crankbait, you can bottom bounce them, or by using a lighter head, they can be used almost as a jerk bait. I guess you could rig just about any plastic on these such as lizards, swiming Senko's ect. I also use these for saltwater fishing, I use a 1/4 oz, with 3" big hammer swimbaits for Hali's, sandies, and spotties. If you need to cast out there aways, on a baitcaster, the 1/2oz might be a way to go. I use these on a spinning rig to keep the scrounger as light as possible. These are a must have imho.

Why am I gut hooking so many fish?
One thing you can do is, keep your index, or any finger on the line, you can detect very subtle bites..

Add line to spool that already has some
While the above knots are good, a uni to uni will work too..easier for me to tie.. ;D

Recommend a Good Ankle Brace
I use to play basketball, when I tore most of the tenons and ligaments, the doctor would put my ankle in a air cast, I was able to play with it on, well, once the pain went away.. ;D Not sure if they are still available, but they work great..I was able to add air as needed so my ankle wouldn't twist or turn.

KVD Line n lure?
Just spray it on the spool full of line. Best to do that the night before you go fishing. I also use to spray it on the guides. Once you use it the first time, you can spray it on your line at any time, but it's best to let it thoroughly dry before fishing.

history of the site
I agree, but I also think that regardless of the FAQ's, most new members pose a question as a way of gaining some interaction; testing the waters, so to speak. Anyways, more power to the site and it's many members. Keep on keepin' on! 8-) I agree, I should have said. If they have a question that's been asked/answered 10 times, they could maybe think of of another question, or topic to interact with.. ;D

shorebound fishing
With weeds, and pads, I'd be tossin a frog in there somewhere. A topwater frog like the Spro or a weighted frog i.e. ragetail toad..ect. If you have shad in there, a baby fluke on a scrounger head works well, use the lightest weight possible for a jerk type bait, or a heavy weight to get through the weeds. This rig is fairly weedless, so you can run it through weeds, unless they are really heavy. A texas rigged roboworm on a splitshot w/o the ears on the weight works good in sparse weeds, I use a #5 splitshot, with a 6" flat tail roboworm.

Yes, nOObs will be nOOb's, but, how hard is it to check out the FAQ'S..? We've all been there done that. For most ?'s the search feature will help alot IF folks used it.. ;D I don't have a problem answering the same question 3 or 4 times in a months. It does get old after awhile. We were all nOObs at 1 time, well, cept for Catt and a couple of others.. I think we should do our best to help those who in turn will be helping others in the future. There's nothing good about being sarcastic when you answer a nOObs question, better to let someone else try. So...that's my story, and I'm sticken to it.. 8-)

For the 1911A1 .45 ACP fans
Good lookin handgun. I really miss my Old Colt's from the early 80's..My old gold Cup cost me 350.00 plus a few hundered to have it worked over.. Compared to other goods, the price is very reasonable..assuming it shoots well..

Megastrike Fish attractant
I avoid this stuff as best I can..But, at least once a week or so..it mysteriously gets on any baits that aren't metal, or injected..jigs, soft swimbaits, anything that's soft plastic..Oh, and the huddelbugs seem to always have to much on them..Oh well, it keeps my baits soft and looking goood..Now, if I could find out how it gets on there.. ;D

keeping the largemouths I catch safe
Shore fishing here also. I have landed 7lb+ bass, as was said, go barbless, and tire the fish out a bit before trying to land them. There's no reason why a fish should ever touch the ground, even if your taking pic's.. Another thing you can do for the smaller bass is Gently grab them on their gills, this kind of settles them down to where they won't squirm around, once they settle down, you can then lip them. One thing I like to do is IF the fish had a tough fight..i.e. it took awhile to tire them out, while having them lipped, move them forward in water to oxygenate them for about 15 secs. or so, this seems to help them, though I don't have any documented proof..

Why am I gut hooking so many fish?
I beg to differ re: weightless bait = more gut hooked bass..Only way that would happen is if you kept your line slack, or you fish with a ugly stick.. ;D Seriously, you need to keep a taught line, and be a line "watcher"..I fish weightless ALOTT, and very seldom do I get a gut hooked fish..

'Bass fishing bullies', or what???
I don't think I would have left. I would have politely asked them to move elsewhere. I have been on the water in a tin boat while a tourney was going on, and none of the guys/gals in the tourney were so disrespectful as to do something like that. In fact a few them asked if they could fish in some of pockets, or small coves we were in, we always let them in..and wished them luck. If they refused to back off, I would have contacted the tourney director to tell him about the situation. I guess it's my old age..and the old adage, don't tread on me pops up more often these days.. ;D

Flukes
Same rig I use to throw weightless Senko's..7'mf baitcaster, or a 7'6" mxf spinning rig, if I want to go down in line size. You can use a 1/8oz keel weighted hook to fish deeper water. Just make sure the hook is Straight.

Question About Casting Distance
Distance does come into play now and then, for those of us that are shore bound most of the time. Hitting holes in between weeds ect. are more important. Just keep practicing ..
