Yup, it's so hard to find a good fishing bud now a days, LOL!!!! I guess i will just ride solo for a while. Every person i fish with is either a deadbeat or too afraid to tell their wife they want to go fishing!

Same goes for you Muddy, no hard feelings! I am not apposed to people keeping fish by any means, that is not what i meant. But people keeping the big ones in the 5lb and up range does upset me. I may be use to my local lakes that have limits and some have signs that say Bass catch and release only! Also, since i was a little kid my uncles(who taught me to fish) beat C&R in my head. That is how i was raised i guess.

All of the rigs you listed can be productive and weedless in the grass. As long as you hide the point of the hook into the plastic(T-Rig).

I was thinking of starting a thread like this one before i saw this one! On two lakes i fish we have the same problem with gar. I do think they will detour bass though and this is why. After months of fishing a certain area on those a lake and catching MANY bass the bite has suddenly stopped completely there. Now the area is overrun by HUGE gar that were not there before. They are certainly not slow or have bad eye sight though! Those things will run down a lure at lightning speeds and hardly ever miss.

Do you think everyone who does has one? I know MANY don't but that is not my point it is yours! I am apposed to keeping a BIG fish whether you have a license or not! That is my believe/opinion and nothing will change it. Just like yours is yours and you have a right to it as well!

If you choose braid get Suffix or the new FireLine Braid

I would grab some 1/2 oz rat-L-Traps in chrome black back and natural shad colors. Definitely some Senkos or similar style baits in watermelon/red flake. Anything that says Rage Tail on it in just about any color! Some bullet weights in sizes ranging from 1/8oz to 1/2 oz. Also some EWG Gamakatsu or Owner hooks in sizes from 2/0-5/0 for T-rigs.

The guy may or may not have even had a license(no one knows). So to say he is in his legal right is going a bit far! As far as slot limits go, that is why i said the ones HERE! And the amount of $ i spend each year on the sport is my choice! Just in fuel for the boat and truck alone is a huge amount! I never said YOU had to spend that much! If you don't than that is your choice.

Although it MAY be his "legal" right to keep the fish, it doesn't make it right to people who love the sport! I personally spend thousands each year pursuing the LMB and constantly striving to improve my PB. And when i see some jack*** keeping a fish of that size it tickss me off too! I don't know what the slot limits are in you area but a 5-6lb fish here usually does not fall into the size that you can keep!

I know of a pond that is maybe 35 acres just outside of Frost Proof FL in the middle of an orange grove. My father-n-law is a contractor and harvests the groves near by and says there is always someone patrolling the area! The place is lined with cattails, reeds, pads you name it!
