Best jig rod between Daiwa zillion and kistler
If those were my only choices i would say the Kistler Helium. But i would prefer my Powell 766H for jigs!!!

Cranking Rod
I use a BPS Crankin' Stick with a BPS limited editionTournament reel. It is a MH/F and it is PERFECT for any treble hook lures and spinerbaits. I found that it makes a great topwater rod for treble topwaters. Can't beat the price either.

Frog Hook Question
I use a regular Gamakatsu SuperLine hook for Rage Tails. Those are more for hollow body frogs really. I started a similar thread last week with only one members response. Hope you have better luck!

The Shallows seem dead?
Man, that sounds like a sweet spot if there is grassy bottoms! Once you have a general idea of the contour try and draw yourself a map just to have a mental reference to look back on. I would cast a Carolina rigged lizard to the deepest part and drag it up the slope than vise verse. Also try a drop shot rig right over them in the deepest parts. A deep crank can also be a great way at locating the fish quickly. BEST OF LUCK

Anyone try the Optimum or the XPS Rigged Paddletail Swimbaits?
I have many of them and they work just as good as any other paddle tail imo!

The Shallows seem dead?
A while back i was faced with a similar situation. This advice is assuming you have a boat. I would get some buoy markers and estimate the depth you are in using them. It will take a while but you can get a pattern going eventually!

Revo Toro vs Revo Inshore
The Revo Inshore is AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Line snapping (Braid Help)
Flippin' and pitchin' is the exact reason why it digs into itself. You must have your drag set tight(if you want to get the fish out) when using these techniques! And most people don't fish tournaments so there is no need to switch every two days. Why in the world would you want to with braid anyways!?! Also, FireLine and Suffix are FAR superior to Power Pro!

Double footed guides?????
Backbone is a blank quality, guides won't change it enough for 99.9% of people to notice. As for why some companies use a bunch of doubles... 2 reasons- they look tougher, and take abuse better. (fewer warranty claims) Singles are fine for anything in bass fishing (except maybe a big, heavy swimbait rod) but they are bent/broken more easily when stepped on or thrown in a truck bed. As for sensitivity, less weight, thread and finish on the blank will actually help felt sensitivity... how much depends on a number of factors. Reel Mech chimed in right away, i was wondering when you would get here, LOL! You are right about them looker tougher too! So my Falcons will be okay for fishing cover than with only one double? THANKS ALL

what gear ratio?
Either really but i would get the 7:1:1

Rant about fishing shows
I can't remember ever wetting my hands before landing a fish. The reality of it is that the majority of anglers don't follow with your believes/practices. Although i do believe in the holding them by the lower jaw thing.

jigging set up
It all depends on how tall you are, exact price range and the cover you are fishing. A good set-up i can recommend is a Powell 705C and a Revo S. The rod is $139 and the reel can be had new on Ebay for around $90. I now use a Falcon Cara T7 Amistad(7' 3") rod and a Revo STX for those techniques. The Cara rod is $155(for me) and the Revo is about $160 on Ebay new. The possibilities are endless really!

Owner vs Gamakatsu
When you use braid you need to switch to SuperLine hooks. The braid has no stretch and will bend a regular Gammy on a hookset into a dink!
