Hello and WELCOME first of all! Braided line can be used on any lures except those with treble hooks really. It has virtually no stretch so it amplifies the feeling of what your lure is touching and provides better hook sets. Anytime you are fishing around cover such as grass, lily pads, brush etc braid is a good idea. Personally, i use it for flippin' heavy cover and on my T-rigged set-up.

WOW, 6' 7" huh? I would look into a little bit bigger stick if i were you man! My bro is 6' 4" and he uses a Mike Iaconelli MI801XHXB stick. Kistler also makes a very nice 7' 8" all day flippin' stick.

Personally i will not flip with anything shorter than a 7' 6" stick, but i am 6' 2" tall. Some shorter anglers prefer a shorter rod. The cover you are fishing is a factor as well. The longer rod will give you more leverage in the heavy cover. A flippin' stick can easily double as a frog rod and Carolina rig rod as well. For $20 they will make great spare rods IMO.

I was looking at one at Wal-Mart that actually looked like it would make a good frog rod! They have a great backbone section.

I have had success with the Spro 65 MidNight Walker(all black). I have not caught any in the actual cover though. Most are just outside of it or on the banks with scattered cover. BEST OF LUCK

Finally, somebody with some since, GEEEEEZ!!!!! I would go with St. Croix or another Powell!

I only use scents in the colder months or when the fish are lock jawed. I don't think they will attract a fish from a ways out though. They will however entice them if they are looking/considering the lure already. I do however believe that they will make a fish hold the lure a lot longer. I personally use the B.A.N.G spray cans.

A T-rig is more weedless, better hook-ups, completely different action, and will catch fish of all sizes. It has been my experience that jigs attract a slightly larger sized fish.

Are you using the regular size Rat-L-Trap? No matter where i fish under 10' i always use a 1/2oz trap. If it is etremely shallow you may want to try a 1/4oz model.

I have never had one break that i shipped. But did have one shipped to me by Cabela's that was broken in 4 pieces(cardboard tube). I shipped one yesterday(7' 3") from FL to OK USPS priority for $9.87! And another to TX for $15.36(7' 6"). The size limitations for Priority allow for you to ship them with no surcharge if you don't let them tell you otherwise. Most USPS workers don't even know this and will try and argue with you but it's true!

I fish a few creeks and feeder creeks as well. My number one baits are a Rat-L-Trap in natural shiner color, zoom fluke in pearl and a T-rigged worm in Chartreuse pepper all fished around any vegetation there may be. GOOD LUCK

I use to load up on those from Wal-Mart but they stopped selling them! I just use the *** sticks sold by one of our members here. They are the same as a Senko IMO but A LOT cheaper!

If you are going to do a lot of flippin'(like i do) than i would suggest you invest in the best rod you can afford. Great sensitivity is a must to enable you to distinguish what is a fish in those thick weeds, brush, pads etc. Strength is also a key factor in a flippin' stick. If you will only flip occasionally than the Cabela's would be okay i guess.

In the same place where the tubes are at they sale the end caps to fit perfectly on the ends. They are like $55 cents at my stores. It is A LOT more durable and safer for the rod this way!

I can think of about 100 places here in FL where braid is necessary actually! Try having a huge bass wrap you in pads so thick you can't see water under them and pulling it out with mono or fluoro! BTW, that BPS is sweet man! I use it on almost all my rigs except the flippin stick!

I have the Powell 766H and there is nothing like it for the $! It has the backbone of a telephone pole and the sensitivity of my 7' worm rods.

That's exactly what i do as well! It is only $3 at my local store though!

Ebay is loaded with them at a little over $6 a bag though!
