Choice of Baitcasting Reels
I use an Abu Garcia Revo S model for spinners. It can't be beat for the $ IMO!

Fishing in cloudy/muddy water???
When using Spinnerbaits and crankbaits you are relying more on vibration and sound to help the fish locate the bait. Use cranks with loud rattles and big spinners with big blades and maybe even a trailer. I use white/chartreuse, Fire Tiger and Sexy Shad combination's with great success.

Double footed guides?????
Good to hear about the strength Reel Mech! I was told that it would not have a lot of backbone without double footed guides! So what is the purpose of some companies putting so many doubles?

Flipping & pichting
I have found that the actual bait has little importance in these techniques. As long as it is a compact bait for heavy cover(helps slide in the cover better). If it is more scattered than any plastic will do. I concentrate more on the color of the lure. You are looking for a reaction strike when flippin' and pitchin'. Most of the time the fish will react and take the lure on the initial fall. Sensitive rods are a must to feel the subtle bites. Since you are targeting a little bit bigger fish with these techniques, strong gear is necessary to extract the fish from the cover.

Double footed guides?????
Hey guys! I was wondering, what is the difference in rods with a lot of double footed guides and those with only a couple. I have some Falcon Cara T7 rods that only have the first guide from the reel seat up doubled. My Powells have 4-5 doubled. Will the lack of double footed guides make my Falcons weaker? How about sensitivity?

BPS XPS has served me well!

Is the 7' Mojo Heavy action rod (fast tip) a decent flipping rod?
Mojos are not that sensitive and do not have the best guides either. They have some serious backbone though. Yours is labeled Frog and Slop, techniques in which braid is common. But i messed the guides up on one using 30lb braid, just a though. With that said, Carrot sticks have crappy guides as well! If those were the only choices i would keep the Mojo. You might want to look at Falcon Buccoo rods as well.

Just my point of view
I have a buddy who trys to fish with his wallet! He has a $40,000 boat and $35,000 truck, $1000 rod/reel set-ups etc, but can't catch a bass if his life depended on it! I have tried to help but of course, he knows everything about bass fishing already, LOL! I think serious anglers should strive to buy the best tackle they can afford and no more. But first take the time to learn to fish. GREAT POST

Do you name them?
Okay, i have heard and done some crazy stuff but this is outright ridiculous, LOL! But then again, i could be wrong!!!!

Berkley Lightning Rod?????
I think RoadWarrior gave the best advice by saying to keep your eyes on our flea market here. Also, check Ebay everyday because there is stuff popping up daily! I have owned the lightning rods and i hated them personally. It is better to hold out and buy a good rod than buy a cheap one that you will replace later anyways imo! I have seen the St. Croix Mojos on Ebay for $65 shipped.

Who here lost one of their favorite lures to a fish and were upset?
In the lakes i fish if you are afraid to lose a lure than you might as well pack it up. Every inch of them is covered in some kind of slop. I found a school of bass busting shad out of the water about a month ago on one of my lakes. I tossed a slow sinking BBZ-1 Shad at them and proceeded to catch one one almost every cast. My excitement over the situation along with not wanting to miss a second led me to not retie my lure. Well, after about 16 fish a good sized one hit and broke me off. A $22 lure gone just like that. I have reward signs at the dock for anyone who can catch that sucker and get my lure back, LOL!!!! ;D

fluke vs gulp jerk shad
FLUKES all the way man!!!

Rod Sensitivity Question
Shakespeare rods are not really known for sensitivity! For that specific technique i would get the best rod i could afford along with some fluoro. Anytime you are fishing a contact bait you need all the sensitivity you can get.

Do You Think Catching a Big Bass is Luck?
Right place at the right time along with skill and persistence imo!

Nice fish! Don't lay them down like that unless you are keeping them. I say 4-5lbs. CONGRATS

How many setups do you have ready 2 roll on your boat at one time?
I will usually have 5-6 on deck ready! But, 99.9% of the time only one or two get used, LOL! I own over 12 set-ups but don't ever use them.

Do you kiss your fish?????
I'm starting to feel like i will never get mine either man!!!!
