  1. Alabama Rig, Square bills, and most of all Beaver style baits
  2. I have a lot of confidence in a Booyah 1/4 oz chartreuse white tandem blade spinnerbait. I feel like I can always catch al least one fish on that bait. Caught myself about 6-7 decent size fish the last time I went fishing. I would get something small like this to get more bites to help gain confidence. That is the bait that really made me love spinnerbait fishing
  3. I currently have more bait casting rods than reels. I need something for my flipping stick. I just spent a bunch of money at bass pro and academy and a local bait shop on stuff that was on clearance and on sale. As a beginning teacher, I don't make much money and cant afford a high priced reel. I recently got a Revo S and Veritas for jig and plastic fishing and then I got all of these baits on sale. So, I am trying to cut back, but I do want a reel for my flipping stick, and as a backup in case one of my older well used reels decides to quit on me this year. Would anyone recommend the Laguna? I have read quite a few favorable reviews but thought I should ask my friends here on BassResource. I think I would get the 7.1:1 gear ratio since nearly all of my others a 6 something or others, besides my deep cranker. What you all think? I dont wanna spend more than $60
  4. after going to bass pro and trying holding one, I would get a different reel if you plan on fishing with it all day. That Bionic reel is heavy and will wear you out. For a pretty cheap reel that should preform well, I would out and get an Abu Cardinal. They are only about $30 and pretty decent little reels. I have a Daiwa Exceller that I would highly recommend as well, its about $80 though.
  5. I use 8 lb on my spinning reel, just the regular hybrid, not the soft
  6. ive been thinking of it for a few weeks now. Ive read a few recipes but everyone i read, half of the comments say the recipe doesnt work. Im gonna try it in a week or two and i will try to update for you
  7. what about pop rocks. Ive been looking online for homemade pop rocks recipes. instead of adding a fruity flavor I would try garlic. Wouldnt that be awesome?
  8. Ive been using Hybrid for a while now. The original stuff and really like it. Ive had good success and plan on continuing using it. Most recently I've been buying Bass Pro Excell cause its so cheap and its worked pretty well. I do really like the hybrid and i think i catch more fish when i am using it.
  9. I have a 7' Team Daiwa LT cranking rod. Im a fan
  10. That is interesting. Bass Pro does not sell Lew's Reels though, so I think that makes it even more interesting. I was talking to a guy the other day who was just raving about Lews. Interested in possibly looking into the PQ if its made by Lews
  11. I just purchased one of those SK swim jigs as well. havent really fished one before. Do i just swim it through the cover?
  12. If you had to catch a limit of fish and you had to throw one bait, what would you throw? What is your one (or two if you want) confidence bait? Mine is a T-Rigged Green Pumpkin rage Craw. 2nd would be 1/4 oz booyah chartreuse white tandem spinnerbait
  13. my uncle told me to always go with a 1 piece. he taught me to fish and that is the first thing he ever told me when we went out to get my first rod. i will always remember it. i dont remember the reasoning, but i do remember him saying that. I have a 6' spinning rod and i have had no issues with it. I would probably go 1 piece, but just cause its what my uncle taught me early on
  14. i made some chatterbait blades from old altoid cans and they have had an awesome action. Mine had more action than the real chatterbait. Caught more fish on them as well.
  15. my partner and I were fishing a tournament and he couldnt catch anything, but i was wearing them out on a baby ring fry. He switched over and started as well. it was awesome. Very strong garlic stink as well
  16. i agree with TYG, its a crazy tight idea. I wanna see what everyone posts.
  17. Walmart had all kinds of things for $1.50. I got some Zara Puppie Spooks, Yum Mighty Bugs, Rebel Wee R Cranks, and small Pop-Rs for 1.50 each. I also got some Money Frogs and Yum Money Hounds for 1.50. I would go check the end caps at your walmart if you are interested.
  18. i have so much confidence in the rage craw, its crazy. and every fish I have caught on the Smokin Rooster has been big
  19. I agree. A texas Rig is waht I would start off with. If I started right now I would go out and get 1/8 oz and 3/16 oz weights, 2/o ewg gamakatsu hooks, a pack of rage craws and baby brush hogs in a green pumpkin color
  20. the 3 year warrenty is pretty rad. I was told from a guy at bass pro that they have had quite a few problems with the really expensive ones, but the $150 one was pretty good.
  21. I agree. I LOVE the Extreme and Bionic Blade Rods. I was moving out of my house in college after graduation, moving back home and broke about an inch off one of my Extremes in the door. I was so irritated. I ended up getting a new guide for the tip and been using it for about 4 years since. Caught a bunch of fish on it since. Love their rods
  22. I agree with Young Gun, its very easy to go too fast without really realizing it. Just practice practice practice, the more time you spend fishing the better you will get. If you get a chance to go night fishing this spring/summer, that should help you develop more skills in your fishing as well. Good luck and keep practicing

I personally would go with a finesse jig to start with. It will draw more strikes to help get you more comfortable jig fishing. I like the Chompers Eraser jigs quite a bit. I pair them up with a Zoom lil critter craw. I like the jig in 3/16 oz or 5/16 oz in green pumpkin purple with the green pumpkin lil critter craw. I also like the chompers football jig in the same color with a Rage Craw. On both the lil critter craw and rage craw I like to take off the top 2 or 3 segments of the craw to make it a little more compact to where the claws come out just after the end of the skirt
  24. I bought the first Ardent Reel, I believe its the XS. First time I went out the drag was screwed up. emailed the owner, sent it in to get fixed. Since then, I have had no issues, except not having more. I absolutely love it. I use it on a Medium action Extreme Rod for spinnerbaits. I hope you like the reel as much as I like mine. The owner is a really cool guy. I bought it when i was first starting out. I got it at the reel trade in. It was $250, but I had $40 off for the trade in, but I didnt wanna spend more than 170 for a reel. He looked at me and said he would give me the extra $40 if I would email him what i thought about it after using it. someone was like, for real? He told them that he was that confident that it would be a customer for life that he would do it. I havent bought my second yet, but plan on it next year. I really like their original design, kinda disappointed they changed it. Oh well. good luck
  25. No Sir. They really wanna move around though.
