Unless it's a spinnerbait, chatterbait, or jig, it get tossed. On those 3 I'll sharpen them maybe twice & then retire em.

Anglers often respond to failure & frustration by over-complicating theory & technique. As much as it helps our egos to regard a difficult task as complex, this type of thinking is often the biggest obstacle between you & your fishing success.

Hackney was all the way in the back of Housen', ended up in 88th with 5 for 12 - 9. Honestly I rarely fish that area because I've never done good back there. Milliken was in one of my favorite areas, ended up in 9th with 22 - 9.

The round bends 😉

Been down this road once or twice before. What I noticed was sometimes its not the hook but the bass. I took two 1/2 oz Rat-l-traps in gold, black back, & orange belly. One has triple grips & one had round bends. Probably caught 30 bass that day but missed several. The last one kinda irritated me, she was 7-8#. Thought I had a solid hookup, fought her awhile, got her to almost within net distance. She simply opened her mouth & the Trap came at me 90 mph. I examined the Trap & noticed two perfect cresent shaped tooth scrape marks. She had the Trap in her teeth & simply open her mouth. I noticed the same thing years ago with lead bullet weights. I knew how good a day I had by the scrape marks making the weight shiny. We tend to believe we "blow" the bass's mouth open, when in fact they simply opened their mouth.
