  1. There's a length of time that starts when the jig/t-rig enters the bass's mouth & ends when the jig/t-rig exits the bass's mouth. It's my opinion that where in that time frame you set determines how solid a hookset you get. If you set hook during the first half of this time frame the bass has it solidly in it's mouth. This will result in a solid hookup. If you set hook during the second half of this time frame the bass has already decided to "spit" the jig/t-rig & the mouth is beginning to open. This will result in a poor hookup. This is why I never wait on nuthin! Sometimes we think we "blew" their mouth open, when in reality she simply opened her mouth. Feeling a worm/jig bite requires keeping a certain amount of tension on your line while at the same time keeping a certain amount of slackness in your line. To the average angler this makes no sense at all but the worm/jig angler it makes total sense.

  3. Monofilament or Flourcarbon for everything but punching. I use leaders in saltwater but they're usually steel.
  4. I've fished from Brownville Texas to Inverness Florida, from 135 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico to north central Ohio. With 55 yrs experience on Toledo Bend that's where I do my most damage. Joined two bass clubs whose members included John Torian, John Hall, John Dean, Villis P "Bo" Dowden SR, Harold Allen, Larry Nixon, Tommy Martin, & Zell Roland all guides at Toledo Bend's Pendleton Harbor Marina. I've fished around Lonnie Stanley, Terry Oldham, Jerry Dean, Shaw Grigsby, Ken Cook, Todd Faircloth, Bob Sealy, Ron/Rick Pierce, & Darren "Mad Man" Mooneyham. On a few occasions I met Gary Yamamoto, Ben Matsubu, & Takahiro Omori at the cafes and boat launches around Toledo Bend & Rayburn.
  5. I wish I knew 😪 I can't find mine
  6. I understand what structure is, how to truly identify it, interpret it, & then fish it effectively. I understand what the predominate prey species in my bodies of water are & how that species relates to structure with each season...morning, noon, and night.

  9. @btoups After yesterday what ever you do don't read anything I wrote! One of the worse trips ever on the Big Pond! Started at the 6-Mile boat launch & worked all the way around to the south bank of Housen' across from 944. 4 little tighteyes, never found shad or fish on the electronics

  19. Y'all fish way too fast! Even with buzzbaits I prefer a slow revive, I use a 5.0:1, same with spinnerbaits. Soon y'all gonna throw it out, reel it in, & it will never touch water.
  20. ^^this^^ Y'all need to Google Mark Pack, he fished his M-Pack Shad down to 20-25'. Results were numerous 50#+ stringers!
  21. How Y'all Are 😉
  22. @A5BLASTER how the grass up yonder? Hinton Carroll (age 11) from West Monroe, Louisiana, caught this 11.79-pound bass on January 27, 2024, and weighed it in at Keith's Toledo Bend Tackle.
  23. Water level got nothing to do with that. We're talking water high enough for bass to be up in the buck brush.

Spike-It Dip-N-Glo Chartreuse Garlic Actually started using it 3-4 yrs ago when I found a bottle on the bank. What's crazy is since I found that bottle I found 2 more so I ain't bought none. Don't like the markers, don't put enough on. I dip just the tail or claws. Yes it's absolutely messy!
  25. Emulate: match or surpass (a person or achievement), typically by imitation. I may learn from all y'all but in the end I gotta make the final decisions. @Pat Brown if you truly believe it, prove it. Even back in the early days lot of what we heard or read was regurgitation.
