  1. ....just a counterpoint.... the cabo has a TiMag bail... epoxy coated magnets, that replace bail springs...that wont corrode or wear out.... ceramic drag supported by twin bearings...... seems to me that the cabo is a much more equipped reel for the salt!!!
  2. almost forgot the old "space room 3000"..... very simple....just get about 10-20 rolls of dollar store tin foil, and when you buddies out for the night, you and a few friends cover every square inch of his room in tin foil.....from all the light fixtures, to the whole dresser, even loose pens and pencils....all walls, etc....till there's nothing but shiny silver everywhere!!! not one ounce of uncovered space... it makes the room look absolutely ridiculous!!!...like some sorta space station (if done in extreme detail, it is simply amazing!!!) it may be fun for the guys doing it...but the time it takes to remove it all by one person is just crazy..... don't forget to see their face upon entering...and photos of the completed job are a must 8-)

  4. .....well, as all agree...... at least your OK!!! with rocks, for sure, it could have been alot worse.... but it wasn't.....so, all in all...... at least your pops still has his favorite spinnerbait ;D
  5. huh....didn't actually know that it was a popular drink...the only time i have ever seen it done by others was in the bahama's outing, and that was about 6 years ago.... good info!!
  6. bad news for sure.... first off, i hate snakes...... second off, i never want one remotely near what parts i put on the old jon!!
  7. about the residue..... ya ... over time it will, but its very easy to remove if you want to switch back to mono.. just take the spool off and warm water and soap usually does the trick....if its on there a really long time...try goo-gone... just be sure to thoroughly clean the goo-gone off if you use that method.
  8. agreed.... i love poppers.....i usually start with the same action as stated above, and if nothing happens, i switch up the tempo.... give it a pop, and let it sit for a few seconds...then repeat... or pop it rapidly all the way back... just depends on the mood of the fish... one time i casted out and popped it a few times, them had to help my pal with a gut hooked fish....the popper sat still for at least 3-4 min.. and i had all but forgotten it when...bam!!!....fish on!!!
  9. ya, usually i hook on the old worm for the spawning fish...... cast over the bed...reel it slowly onto it, and let it sit right in the bed for a while....you may have to do it a few times, but eventually they get ticked off enough and move it out....at which point you show'em who's boss
  10. i haven't fished'em yet bc of the price issue myself..... but from what im told by all others around me.... if you fish it ,, they will denfinetly come!!!! which is why at my next outing to BPS, i will be purchasing one ;D
  11. ya, personally i love spinnerbaits..... i have a high confidence level in them..... congrats on the fish.....!!! ;D ...and there was a thread not to long ago about fish jumping into the boat, ...(sorry, don't remember who started it, or what section it was in for that matter.....)
  12. those pics are great!!!! good to hear he enjoys it.....and he'll be stoked on the upgrade..... nice fish as well!!
  13. from what i was told by my father, i caught my first fish at the age of four.......a bullhead..... so start now for sure.... i feel catfish are a good way to go as well.....bait it up for'em, and toss it out.... all you have to do is wait for the bite, help'em set the hook, and watch'em reel it in!!!! ;D
  14. agreed.....i had a buddy try this in the past with pretty much the same results!!!!
  15. ya sirsnookalot, a van staal would be great, but a little out of budget to say the least..... and for everyone, normally i am a strict shimano guy, but the cabo is ridiculously overbuilt for the salt.....which is why im considering it.... right now i own a saros 3000 for the salt, but again, you can never have too much gear!!! about the sol, i have owned daiwa's in the past....and dont get me wrong, they are excellent reels, but i never quite took a liking to them..... ive definetly got a lot more consideration to do before i possibly get the cabo though.... thanx to all, and i also hope for more input as well!!!
  16. wow...... i could use a day like that!!!! ;D
  17. thats totally awesome at the age of 4.... great stuff, and i hope you get the pics for your sake of the memories....but i would enjoy seeing them as well!!
  18. if anyone has used or now someone who owns a quantum cabo pt spinning reel, i would greatly appriciate your input on the reels preformance.... i dont "need" another salt reel, but i have an anniversary coming up and dont know what else to hint at....(plus, you can never have too much gear ) i do lots of salt fishing along with my fresh outings, and would like the input /advice of any willing to share..... thanx to all!!!
  19. you picked a good place, welcome to the crew!! ;D
  20. see, now you've just gone and made me hungry...... d**n you.... too bad i dont have any fresh turkeys..... well, i guess its off to KFC for a really crappy substitute!!
  21. dont think ive ever met such an avid old mil fan.......too-shay good sir!!
  22. what the heck was that!!?? i haven't checked the owners manual yet, but my furniture has held up to all races so far.....wasn't aware it may have an intended use! odd....but it was funny, in a "am i really seeing this" kinda way.. :-?
  23. wow, nice fish for sure my man..... haven't seen one that short/fat for a while..... ;D
