I started out with a PB&J and moved to a black w/ chartreuse skirt. The water I was in was dirtied up pretty badly from the wind. That lake is a great jig lake. Theres very little slime on the bottom. Mostly just rocks and mud. I sure as hell wish my lake was like that. I've got a good three inches of some kind of plant on the bottom of the majority of the lake. No idea what it is. Looks like some kind of brown coontail.

The only size I got touched on was a 3/8. I had one strike on a 1/2. The 1/4 and 3/16 finesse jigs I was using initially didn't even get looked at. While I was out I found what should be a great spawning flat on the lake I was fishing. 25-30 foot of water that comes up to a big plateau thats 6-8 foot. Definitely planning on hitting that area up again once it warms up some.

Whatever it was, it needs to warm up some. Fishing has been very slow and very hit or miss everywhere it seems.

If all you do with a jig is flip or pitch it, you're severely limiting yourself.

Dude, don't hold stuff so close to the camera. Nobody can see a thing. It's horribly out of focus. Chatter style baits haven't been working much for me lately. Earlier this year they were producing great.

Bayou Magic

Soft plastic paddletails are one of my favorite baits. If not my favorite. I've used tons of them. Dippers, Big-EZ, Hollow Bellies, etc etc. My favorite is still the Swimming Senko. The Zoom Swimming Fluke is a close second. I've switched over to 15 pound Yo-zuri Hybrid on my paddletail rod and noticed a large increase in fish landed. Now, if I'm in some very nasty stuff, I'll use braid, though I don't think that's really necessary. My favorite way to rig those is on a screw in bullet sinker with an appropriate hook to the size bait. If I'm fishing them in more open water, I'll use a belly weighted hook like the Owner beast.

He caught that not too terribly far from where you are in Pines. I'll let him tell you the specific spot. Not sure if it's one of his honey holes.

I actually had a decent day yesterday on one of the local lakes out here. Nothing huge, but several three to three and a half pounders. The only thing they were touching was a football jig in 8-12' FOW. Nothing else even got touched. I had a few follows on a different swimbaits, but none committed to it. Was cold and windy in the morning. I ended up dropping my anchor at the spots I stopped in. Glad I brought it with me.

I'm with you on that Francho. I slam my fish when I set the hook. Thats half the reason I started to use a co-poly in the last month. I was setting so hard (unintentionally) that I was tearing the fishes mouth during the hookset. The only times Ive broken a line were completely my fault. Either not retying, checking for abrasion, or a bad knot.
