That's funny, I noticed that too. He also used a Megabass spinning rod in, I believe, the St. Lawrence tournament. Season before last he used a black Daiwa with clear cork knobs during Bass Fest. I couldn't tell exactly what reel it was though. It's funny seeing a guy like that branch out and use different stuff.

Agree completely. Pros aren't using custom rods if they have a rod sponsor.

One other thing I will add is to fish with a buddy when you can. When you hit that cold water, your ability to swim very far could be severely limited. I am speaking from experience.

This isn't a generic fishing site, it's a bass fishing site. Most of us here use bass fishing gear. The generic rods and reels that one can buy for $20 at Walmart isn't considered bass fishing gear, therefore most of us don't use it or talk about it. It doesn't have anything to do with looking down on anyone for the gear they use, it just isn't what most of us use. That's really all there is to it. If you have a problem with the vast range of price points and gear mostly discussed on a bass fishing site, that's on you, but please stop whining about it.

Go to any Walmart of sporting goods store and look around. You'll find plenty of baits costing $1-$2. It would be ridiculous to try to make a bass lure unless you were just doing it for fun and you would still have to buy hardware/hooks etc.

This a bass fishing site. Every 3rd post seems to be about the best $100 rod or reel. That IS the lower budget bass fishing equipment. Why do you think bank bass fishermen are somehow using stuff less expensive than other bass fishermen? Why would you think those people need a 2nd site to talk about it? You're the only person here that seems to have a problem with any of this.

Yeah, I think I'm with you on that. It seems like unless you were moving very, very slowly, a weightless senko wouldn't even make it to the bottom. It's fishing though so anything goes really.

Next time you're out on a sunny day, tie on a plastic with flake and look at it in the water. The way the sun makes the individual flakes shine at different times from different angles makes a bait look alive.

They've dropped the prices on a lot of their baits, I don't know if they've changed anything or not. I haven't bought any of the newer, cheaper baits yet.

I would personally use the 6.4 Revo with 10 or 12 lb CX. CX is a good line and I don't like braid with crankbaits.
