Do you rely on Intuition?
“Use the force Luke, use the force.” I do listen to “myself” most of the time, ya need to fish this or that spot a little longer. Maybe even change colors, or change from worms to lures.

Local pond night monster on my radar.
My fault @fin didn’t mean to mis-quote ya. Your right otters aren’t shy, they are brazen, or even cocky sometimes.

I don’t think you heard an otter splash that night. Like @finsaid they are pretty stealthy, even when I saw them go from the bank into the water it was very quiet. Beavers I saw and heard was more of a whack sound.

Another Cali. Monster.

Local pond night monster on my radar.
My niece lives on a golf course, three ponds or water hazards are close by. A group, herd, or what ever you call them, of otters. Wiped out her koi pond, and hit the golf course ponds. I saw some pretty big carcasses of bass, which I was surprised they were able to catch them.

Ok @Bazoo I agree with @GreenPig we need a pic, possibly video. So here’s the plan… do you have an orange vest, get a hard hat and a clip board. Everyone will think your maintenance, get on the roof of the apartment building. You’ll have a better advantage point from an elevated position on the roof to look down into the water. You’ll need some polarized sunglasses maybe, I think you can recon it all out, get times, movement patterns. Might have to do this at night, wouldn’t have any night vision gear would ya. Just messing around… but you right you would have seen it was a beaver if you could see your lure. But really I’d be going back during the day and see what I could see. All joking aside, let us know.

"Staple" Colors You Have No Faith In
Red or orange, I’m not a fan of or should I say the fish aren’t. Those crawdad pattern cranks, I have never caught anything on them, even when I lived in NC. @Mike Lwhen I moved here, I was told to use bubblegum, was surprised when it was just hot pink….. but it does work. Junebug is my color here, that and Okeechobee.

Looks like I'm done for a while
Too bad, it’s sad they blew off responsibility like it was nothing. Even if he was drinking and didn’t want a DUI, he has had time to come back.

Can you sand EVA foam grip handles
@bulldog1935 those look excellent. The edges look factory. How’d ya do that?

@Bankbeater does anybody in the surrounding area have cameras, maybe your neighbors cameras got a photo of it.

@Bazoo sounds like you have a nice pond…. Bluegill Hunter has potential, has food, cover, fresh water coming from the feeder stream. Keep us updated or least me… I’ve seen some lunkers pulled out of off beat places…5-6-7 pounders caught in golf course ponds.

@Bazoo can you see much during the the day? How big is the pond?

Do you too ever reach a state where you're happy to simply be on the water?
When I got out in the mornings, it’s usually before daylight. I shut the motor down, drift and eat my egg and cheese biscuit while drinking coffee. Just soaking in the morning. Sometimes during the day I’ll find a limb and toss the bowline around it and just sit and listen and look. I still appreciate nature, and all of its sounds and activities, I still am amazed at what see and hear.

Have you tried these yet?
X2 thanks again

Cranking success
Bluegill and Pumpkin seed are what I have caught the most on. Went out today with a friend, both fishing crank baits. He caught fish, me none… I pick up my worm rig, Texas rig, 7” ribbon tail junebug color. Within 5 minutes I had a bass, my crank baits were very similar in color and size, but nada.

Cranking success
The average depth of the whole lake is about 10 feet, I’m fishing about 5’. Water temp is warm here, 90’s on the leeward, current wise. I mainly try the edge of the pads and cattails. I think my problem is me, I can catch them in the same areas with plastics, Texas rigged. Maybe, I’m too fast, too slow, don’t know.

Do you look at the fish you catch?
I slip back n the water, most time I tell them I’ll be back when they get bigger, the dinks that is. Bigger ones, I take quick pics, slip them back in the water. Sometimes I say go have lots of little ones. I try a be respectful as possible, after all they are the reason I’m there.
