I’ve always have a gold with black back jointed Rapala in my tackle. You’re right, seems weird we all have gold lures but they are the last ones left on the shelf.

@Bazoo when I wade fished a lot I went to a thrift store, or Goodwill or one of those type stores. I got a sling back pack or a one strap pack. I wore it upside down on my back, so I spin it to my chest and it was right side up. I could get tackle standing in the river and still use both hands. They were inexpensive at the thrift store, so I tried a few until I found one that I liked best. Medium to small pack…. They even have real small one if ya don’t mind a pink princess pony pack.

I have to unload my boat every time, I use Plano guide series tackle bag 3600. I’ve had it for at least 3-4 years now, and it was used when I picked it up at yard sale. If something happened to this one I would definitely buy another. I’m having trouble posting a link, don’t know what I’m doing wrong, or I’d post it for ya.

Rods and reels almost set, want to buy a couple trolling rigs for striped bass. Soft plastics I’m ok for a while, but I kinda went nuts for hard baits this year, but I have an excuse. Ok this is it…. I don’t have much experience with crank and jerk baits… still don’t. I figured I’d better get extras…because, I’ve lost more baits than the fish I’ve caught. Sometimes I think the bait monkey is in the boat with me, saying “ yea cast over there, no no, there is no snags, go ahead cast. Worst is when he screams “ It’s a bite, set the hook!” Only to be a snag. “I’m bad dude…. Thought it was a fish” so the bait monkey won this year, glad I’ve bought Ali express, EBay and Bass pro for most.

I still like the ole spincast reels, they are pretty mich bullet proof. I’ve even been looking at some higher end models and replacing the truck rig.

@ol'crickety if you search Tik Tok skip casting you’ll see some crazy skipping from canoes and kayaks. They aren’t tutorials just some people showing their skills, way above mine. When I skip cast, it’s like a golfer putting for the win. An announcer whispers…..” Yes ladies and gentlemen… he’s lining up his shot, slight breeze coming from the west, don’t know if that will affect him. He shoots…. Oh man it takes a nasty bounce and right into the bushes., thought break, and he was doing so well”.

I’m in the same boat, can’t skip a baitcaster to save my soul. I’ll wad one up faster than a parking ticket. ( just kidding, I pay my parking tickets) then wad them up. Mine is a MH 6’6” Ugly Stick like @OmegaDPW with braid, for around docks. Wacky rigged senko style bait is my favorite for skipping.

I try and tell myself it’s my fault, it’s the way I’m fishing the bait, too fast , too slow, not twitching right. Or even better “ They’re ain’t no fish here”. If I don’t think this way I’m going end up like…. Won’t mention his name, or me getting a Jon boat to tow behind for a tackle box.

When I’m going after DD, trolling motor up, electronics off and I push pole in. I go in quiet as a church mouse, stick pin myself in position, then fish. Still haven’t caught a dang DD, bet they’re down going “ and he thinks we can’t hear him”

Oh ….. just remembered another “ what I’m worst at” Frogs, love to fish them, get absolutely picture perfect blow ups, can’t hook them. I’ve turn up hook ends, paused and counted until I’m blue in the face. Just come up empty. I’ve gotten pretty good at cussing though. Hahaha

Once a year, I service all my rods and reels, do the boat too.

I can hear it, don’t know if the fish mind or not. It drives me crazy, I use mostly mono.

I really am horrible at crank baits, I bought a bunch this year, and made a promise to use them more and catch more bass. Somewhere along the line, the fish didn’t get the memo. I’m catch a lot more with soft plastics, wether it be going along a shore line, casting at targets or pitching in the lily pads, around old sunken docks.
