  1. Really haunts me when I’ve been fighting it for awhile, you looking at your spool seeing how full it is…. Thinking it’s got to be close, then nothing……….you stare at the line for a few seconds, lifting your rod, reeling up line, hoping it has turned and running straight at ya…. Nope …..nothing. That’s the kinda thing that makes ya loose sleep at night.

Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida.
  5. Thanks and RIP…..
  6. @Captain Phil what makes them a musky jitter bug to a regular jitter bug? Is it the hooks on the side? Mine has only two hooks with one on the bottom and one at the tail.
  7. I get my big game from Walmart….although I got a combo from Bass Pro in Jan, they spooled it with their “house brand” Excel. It looked and acted like Berkeley Big Game. might try some on a few more rigs.

  9. Thanks everyone….this is a great site.
  10. So do I….. I have a ca-zillion year old hummingbird that gives water temp and shows the bottom, useless in shallow water. Plus if the transducer is mounted on the back, it shows what’s behind you. I turn everything off and push-pole in places when I hunting the big ones anyway.

  13. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida…. And welcome to Bass Resource.
  14. I really don’t have much to complain about. The heat and humidity are killer here at times. Then I start think about all the people who get closed out because of the ice.
  15. Congratulations @Mobasser My doctor told me to get my blood work under control or more meds. It’s mostly my sugar and few others. You give me hope, I just started mine about a week ago.
  16. Is there a set standards or guide lines, for the ratings? The same brand, same exact rating and they can be different if bought a few years apart.

Thought it might be big bite baits but the eyes are different. Also big bite baits is biting a worm not a fish. sorry
  18. Wow everyone has me beat by a country mile as far buying an inexpensive set up. I get a lot of my gear from yard sales.
  19. Don’t know where you’re at in Fl, I too want a double digit bass, but I’m not obsessed with it. There are times I just big bass hunt, when conditions are right. I might just part of a day or all day, then I’ll back to fishing regular…. The way I look at it is, every cast could be a potential DD.
  20. Back in January I pick up a Bass Pro combo for 79.00. The Prodigy…7ft, med/hvy with fast action. Had them spool it with their house line ….12 lb mono. It was $79.00…. Not the cheapest combo I’ve ever bought, but by far not the most expensive ether. It very smooth …. Quiet as a church mouse. It doesn’t cast as far as most of my other reels unless, I take off all the brakes. That being said, it’s a little touchy about over runs with no brakes. I just use 1 or 2 internals and about midway on the mags. It is very user friendly and a beginner would be happy with it. The rod is sensitive but I’m surprised on how strong it is, I usually get one or the other ok reel, or rod and can live with the other. Has anybody else been just blown away by a cheap or inexpensive set up?
