Well thank goodness there's still a bass worth catching in CA.

The folks out West on podcasts make it sound like the bass fishing  is completely dead now but that sure looks like a healthy fish.

Cool!

What a bass.  Of course the Monkey had me Google 3:16 lure company.  All their hard baits are over $200 and most of them are sold out.  Has any one here used them?  Does any one know what model the bait in the picture is?

Breaking news: angler also caught @king fisher

I'm not caught, but I have to admit I might have temporarily been hooked.   Besides I'm sure that bass was caught on a spinnerbait, and the guy is just trying to sell $300 swimbaits.

If you call yourself a hardcore bass angler, then you know that California is known for producing some monstrous Largemouth Bass. While some anglers fish for fun, others spend countless hours and money chasing that one fish. Some are after a personal best, others, a world record.

Greg Springer of Visa, Calif., caught and released a 16.3-pound monster bass on Lake Wohlford near Escondido on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016. This monster California bass was caught on a 3:16 Lure Company glide bait and was caught from shore!

After encountering this massive bass a couple days prior, Springer was determined to land it, so he headed to the spot. Making a cast into some glass-like water conditions, the huge bass actually came up and swiped at his bait. Knowing that she probably got a good look at his swimbait and line because of the calm, clear conditions, Springer backed off and moved on down the bank.

When I saw the wind come up in that area, I went back over there and she crushed it on the first cast,"said Springer.

The monster California bass is Lake Wohlford's biggest bass in fifteen years. The lake record stands at 19 lb. 3 oz., caught in February of 1986 by Steve Beasley.

My guess is it's a Workhorse, which is one of their most popular baits.

They have a very good reputation in the swimbait community.   Friend has some, but he's more of a collector than anything else, he's got everything under the sun lol.

Why long arm a 16 pounder? Silly boy.

Exactly, sure hope the dude got other pictures and measurements.  You'd hate for that to be the only memory of a fish you got.    My mentor was famous for long arming fish, and so many of my earlier fishing pics are me long arming fish and thereby ruining the pics, sucks.

I don't think he's in a garage.  To me it looks like he's kneeling on a dock.  My garage doesn't have wood floors.

Possible but the Wohford dock doesn’t or didn’t have a shed.

A couple other shots showing docks/shed/rental boats in background. Might help.

Well, so much for that. Now that we know that was 8 years ago it's still confirmed there's no bass worth catching out here. 😆
