  1. Great work as usual!!
  2. Nice touch by marbling around the guides!! I like it!
  3. Sounds really cool. Can you post some pics for us to see?
  4. I'm curious if you would mind share your results... like the actual scale readings at the point the lines/knots broke, and which # test.
  5. ReelMech got glitched and re signed up as David G and also as Reel Mechanic. Muddy deleted his own profile and left. He changed it when he came back.
  6. It's so rare that a fish doesn't inhale the whole fluke that I wouldn't even consider the added effort for a trailer or stinger hook. I bet less than 1 in 50 grab just the tail. We catch lots of little (12"-14") fish on super flukes, they don't have any trouble eating them. Smallies included. Maybe your fish are line shy, if you are watching them short strike, maybe they get close and spook. Just a thought.
  7. He emailed me as well. I think he was hit by the banning glitch we see occasionally. I emailed the details to roadwarrior, per basshunter69's request.
  8. ;D ;D That's great! edited to add: GO CUBS!!
  9. I guess that's pointed at me... I'm not surprised. You call Glenn out for his standards and when I offer a simple possible reason, you pronounce me judgemental. Sounds like you have a problem with anyone who has a different opinion than you, just like your little sidekick. ...lol (and no, I'm not a Baptist) You obviously have a higher tolerance than most for what is "fine" in public. That makes you a more tolerant person, nothing more, nothing less. I believe there is a difference between legal and acceptable... if my being conservative makes me judgemental, I guess it makes you liberal. No judgements, just facts and difference of opinion. IMO, "little blue pills and sexy lingerie" were meant for the privacy of a bedroom... not tv and the malls. I do not judge them but I do feel very sorry for a man who's dignity and self worth reside in a pill... that's not where manhood comes from. As for BassResource.com - Glenn's site, Glenn's rules. Don't like it- start your own site. Turning over a new leaf, are you?
  10. I would consider the distances you will shoot. Most modern manufactured rifles, with decent ammo will shoot 1" or better groups at 100 yds. Most shooters can't do that but the guns will. Any caliber mentioned above can do that. I do like the .243 for you if you need to do both with one rifle.
  11. You're right... it's under 3 lbs. No question about it.
  12. It could be as simple as Glenn holds himself to a higher standard than the trash seen in public every day... Remember that we each have our own standards and morally "acceptable" or "decent" are defined differently by each of us. You see religious and political messages all over television- things that are not generally permitted here...
  13. I'm not surprised. They have always treated me above and beyond fair... as if I were a brother in law (which I'm not. ...lol )
  14. The keeper itself is benign, but use of it usually causes surface damage to the blank... either with hooks scratching the blank or weights clanging against it. The damage is cumulative. I use the reel because it keeps hook point and lure bodies off the blank, and hides the hook point on single hook applications. (I also hook less upholstry and skin when the reel hides the hook!!) It's not something that a lot of people need to worry about.... I like using the reel better and I figure it's saved me a few rods over the years. Many years ago I used the keepers... this is how I came to change my ways. ...lol
  15. It's the clip of Joe's leg breaking.... I was watching it live and it still seems like yesterday.
  16. That's good!
  17. That's funny, coming from a Redskins fan... How deep did they go in the playoffs last year? What is their record this year? ;D ;D
  18. When the cowboys are winning, tickets are always super high. When they are losing you can get freebies to any game. Same for the Mavs and Stars. It sucks because the real fan base was priced out of the tickets several years ago... the bulk of the tickets are corporate and season. Your best bet is to find someone with corporate tickets or befriend a parking lot attendant. (they get in free ) I used to take one of them fishing in exchange for getting me into games.
  19. I'm the exact opposite.... I think a hook keeper only gaurantees a rod will be damaged, if it's used. There are several places on a reel to hold a hook and most of them also hide the hook's point. I'll cut off a lure or hook before using a keeper.
  20. I turn the boom mic 90 degree so I talk into the tip of it... eliminates all the troubles you mentioned. (It looks funny but the deer don't care and it won't catch my bowstring that way) I haven't tried the throat mics YET but I think they would be the bomb.

So where are all the Griese fans today?
  22. I've always used Motorola.... never had anythig but good reception no matter what brand other's were using. Even the cheaper Motorola's were good for me. For bowhunting we use the headsets and set the rdios on VOX (voice activated) they even pick up whispering pretty darn well. I don't know anything about the other brands except once in a while, another person asks which brand mine is because I rarely need a repeat. Sounds like you either used a bad channel (sometimes a certain channel won't work well in a certain area) or the two brands don't work great together.
  23. Glad to hear it!
  24. The biggest advantage to a spiral is not what you feel, it's what the rod experiences. Some people can feel a difference and some don't notice it at all. The look is subjective, but I like it, maybe because it's different. That's part of the greatness of rod building... we can all make exactly what we like.
