  1. Why don't you look at a Dobyns Champion XP they are excellent rods & if you wait until Black Friday you will probley find them for few bucks over $ 200. Most likely less than $10.
  2. Since your fishing out of a kayak you might out a Dobyns Champion XP DC683 C or a DC684 C depending on what weight baits you want it for. I do not own either of these rods for I like full handle grips. I do own 14 Dobyns Rods & find them a excellent plus will save you a few bucks. I suggest you call them & tell them what you fish out of & what you are looking for in a rod & they will suggest a few rods that they have in your price range. 903 919 8028. Then you can ask around.
  3. What Brand are you using?
  4. I have fished these for a few years in the spring & have found them to be effective around grass & lilies.
  5. Have you Tried Shimano Customer Support?
  6. I tried to order 14 swim jigs yesterday but could not find the coupon so I gave up. I am not very good on a computer.
  7. How True probably 99% of the time.
  8. I have been BASS fishing for 46 years. Catt & I went to different schools together so when in Doubt SET THE HOOK!!
  9. I found a couple of left-handed coffee mugs at Cracker Barrel a couple of months ago. I have shipped to the grand poo pa for his blessing so there value will soar. When they get back I'll put them on the Flea Market.
  10. You might be fishing it in the wrong direction. Come from behind the branches & not into them.
  11. The 736 is a great choice. As far as the reel choice goes I do not own either of those reels but own 86 Shimano's so my choice would be to try the Shimano 1st.
  12. My partner & I keep a towel in the boat so when we hook a sea gull when casting topwater baits for schooling fish. We cover the bird with the towel as it tends to calm them & it's easier to get the hook out.
  13. I cast with my right hand & reel with my left. I always cast past the target when fishing with a short rod when fishing in & around tree's. (5 1/2 & 6 Ft. rods) On the flats & in the grass & stumps using longer rods I cast with both hands & reel with my left. Again casting past my target & working it back.
  14. I use non ethanol in my boat every time & put a can of Sea Foam in each tank also. My car runs on 93 octane & I also add a can of Sea Foam every fill up. My Truck is a diesel & I put 2 cans of Sea Foam in on a fill up. Around here WalMart carries Sea Foam for between $ 6 & 7 bucks. I buy it from Amazon by the case it's a bit cheaper. It keeps my engines cleaner.
  15. @Delaware Valley Tackle I have been trying to contact you about the status of my reel going on the 3rd day. I have been using the messages but must be doing something wrong. Please contact me. scbassin
  16. Catt once again you hit the nail on the head!
  17. I fish alone 99.9% of the time. I go during the week only, this way I don't have to put up with the crowds & jet ski's. I can come in for lunch or stop fishing & go looking around for new places to check out or maybe take a nap.
  18. New Shimano SLX Baitcasting Reels LADSON, S.C. – ICAST 2018 Introduction -- For anglers looking for a versatile, easy-to-use, lightweight and durable baitcasting reel, Shimano's new SLX reels are the one more fish, one more cast, ‘Can’t Stop Fishing’ option. The series is offered in six models in three different gear ratios, including the 6.3:1 SLX150 and left-hand retrieve SLX151, the high-speed SLX150HG and 151HG with 7.2:1 gears, and the SLX150XG and 151XG with extra high speed 8.2:1. Designed around Shimano’s HAGANE body concept - meaning a solid and precise aluminum frame, the SLX compact body still allows for plenty of line capacity - up to 105 yards of 40-pound test PowerPro braid. Shimano’ proven six-spin style Variable Brake System provides spool and casting control, while the sideplate is attached to prevent it from falling off when adjustments are needed with lures and wind condition changes. Each comes with a ‘Curado K type’ long handle with power handle knobs. Even with the aluminum frame and durable brass gears, each reel weighs in at a light 6.9-ounces. “We see the SLX series as being reels built by, and for, anglers who demand bulletproof, unrelenting durability in their fishing tackle,” said Kurt Mazurek with Shimano. “Using one, whether you're an avid high school or college bass angler, a weekend warrior, or even those who anxiously await that annual special fishing trip with friends, it’s the reel you’ll appreciate to make that just one more cast - it’s our ‘Can’t Stop Fishing’ baitcaster.” The SLX 15 and 151 pull in 25-inches of line per crank, the SLX 150HG and 151HG retrieve in 29-inches, while the fastest retrieve 150XG and 151XG pulls in 32-inches per crank. The each reel handles from 150 yards of 20-pound to 105 yards of 40-pound PowerPro braid, or from 120 yards of 10-pound to 90 yards of 14-pound monofilament. All six SLX casting reels retail for $99.99 (USD). RACINE, Wis.– Minn Kota®, the leader in trolling motor innovation, will debut built-In MEGA Down Imaging™ in its trolling motors at the American Sportfishing Association’s International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST). For the first time, anglers will have the option to select a Minn Kota Ulterra™, Terrova®, Ultrex™ or Fortrex® trolling motor with Built-In MEGA Down Imaging sonar. The Humminbird® MEGA Down Imaging transducer will now be integrated into the trolling motor to provide a clean set up at the bow for anglers. Humminbird’s ultra-clear MEGA Imaging™ is the first Down Imaging technology to enter the megahertz range with performance that’s nearly three times greater than traditional 455 kHz frequencies. It results in the clearest, sharpest on-screen images ever seen. With Built-In MEGA Down Imaging, the transducer is housed in the indestructible lower motor unit and the wiring runs through the composite shaft providing clean rigging that is protected from wear and tear. In addition, having the transducer integrated into the trolling motors allows anglers to see what is directly below the bow of the boat, allowing anglers to make better decisions on where, and how, to fish. “The integration of Minn Kota and Humminbird products is part of our commitment to providing innovative solutions for anglers as they seek to find and catch more fish,” said Minn Kota Brand Manager Brad Henry. As part of the One-Boat Network™, the new Minn Kota trolling motors with Built-In MEGA Down Imaging feature Bluetooth® and i-Pilot® Link™. Bluetooth compatibility allows anglers to control the trolling motor from the Minn Kota app and make software updates wirelessly. Anglers can utilize i-Pilot Link to control their trolling motor from the Humminbird unit, the app or the i-Pilot remote to “follow” a contour at a set speed – with the press of a button the boat will automatically follow the exact path. The new trolling motors are compatible with Humminbird SOLIX®, second generation HELIX®, and ONIX®models and will be available in the fall of 2018. For more information visit MinnKotaMotors.com.
  19. I have kept my old ones & have purchased new ones along the way. My total of Shimano's is now at 86.
  20. I own 4 Scorpion 1001's & 6 Scorpion 1001mg's . The mg's are great for fishing light weight lures. These reels are bullet proof.
  21. I too feel Dobyns rods fish a little lighter than most.
  22. Wow Those reels take me back to the late 70's. I have 2 left up at my place at the lake & they both have extra spools & are in excellent condition. If it's not pouring rain this weekend & take some pictures & contact you,I might sell one. If someone has one the want to sell take it for I am on the fence.
  23. In 1974 I bought my 1st bass boat it was a new Ranger DTR-10. Since then I have owned 3 more Rangers. I up graded to larger boats each time & am now running a 2008 z-21. I sold the 1st 2 for more then I paid for them. My grandson is fishing out of the 3rd one which is a 2002 185 vs. A Ranger boat that is taken care of will last & have excellent resale value. Plus I have had always had excellent service from Ranger.
