Using an 6/0 Beast hook w/Magdraft Freestyle
6 is regarded as the standard with 8 being fine too. I've used 5/0 in a pinch and had no issues.

BaitFuel Fish Attractant Gel
I don't like how it makes baits milky if you squirt it in the bag and let them sit. My OSP mylar minows were white and my speedcraws got dull and solid colored.

Best way to add weight to swimbaits?
Ryugi weight strips work well.
-
What tactic have you completely given up on?
Ned rigs. Just a pride thing I guess.

Best sub $200 spinning reel
Daiwa Kage LT for me Newest Aluminum bodied Stradic should be a winner as well.

Higher-end spinnerbaits
It feels like tight wobbling chatterbait The Bottom Up is super quality and seems to survive our Champlain Pike pretty well. Def works in stained water.

Rod & reel for Hudds 68?
A 7ft 10in H fast St Croix in the price point you want. A Curado K, Tatula 200, Tranx 200 or Calcutta 200 should be great. I've got St Croix models from BassX to Legend Xtreme. The 710HF is great for up to 2.5oz single hook baits (and 8" Magdrafts)

Barnet vermont fishing
For non-Champlain lakes, Matt Applebaum is the man for guiding the small waters. On Champlain if you aren't using Bryan Labelle you're wasting your time.

Daiwa Zillion
I have the JDM version of the new model. Mounted it on a Brailist and it's a dream. 1/2oz footballs can be cast almost "uselessly" far with it. (Line stretch over the distance hurts hookset).

Shimano stuff
I still regularly use 2 First generation Sedona spinning reels (28 years old). The Citica E is the best reel out there for the buck. Aside from bearings in the handle (big deal) the only difference between them and Curado and Chronarch E's is a bearing under the drive shaft. Citica E's are regularly 40-60 used. Buy a smooth drag kit, budget carbon handle and bearing for the drive shaft and you have a reel for 70-90 all in that performs better than ANY current 100 to 150 reel. Without paying 150-200 for a green or white version with a sexier name. (OT the OG Daiwa Fuego is very much the same way).

4 lb. Test Line for Dropshotting?
4lb Tatsu is really astonishing. I use 6lb very irresponsibly with no issues (small footballs on rocks and zebra mussels). 4lb on ds should be awesome.

Football jigs from the bank no cover or rocks
Small football with a 2.8 or 3.3 keitech will crush if lolly gagged around.
