  1. I just broke a 7ft ul Avid and was thinking of doing the same. Now we wait to see who will call first...
  2. 10XD is a completely different rod than a 6XD.
  3. LOL Good Bike Handlers that are too fat, or like girls too much to train for XC!!!
  4. I raced DH in college. I love this clip.
  5. But then there's Lowrance's "customer service"... my buddy has made 4 calls to them, and they acknowledge it, nothing ever sent or any call backs. Not returning calls is a bad look.
  6. Dragging a Carolina Rig in winds, sometimes the sock comes out.
  7. If you are going with 1 combo then a Tatula rod from the auction site or Amazon for $100 amd a Tatula reel from the same places. Just about 200... Tatula rod for 100 is a no brainer
  8. Keitechs with screwlock hook and a bottle of mend-it. Period
  9. With a 200 limit, you could start a pretty comprehensive collection with the Powell Diesels at TW for ~$55 each then get a Daiwa Exceler casting and Daiwa RG 2000 Spinning reel from gander mtn.
  10. The Alberto will go through those just fine, they are not true "micro" guides. Phenix uses a similar guide on their rods and I have no issues.
  11. By Swimbaits are you talking up to 3oz or say 3-6 oz or BIG mommas? I'd say the Winch mentioned above for smaller baits is fine. The Cardiff 300/301 for the bigger baits is great. You can get an Abu 5500 for ~$30-$50 all day on the auction sites. 5:1 ratio, good capacity, upgradable to the hilt. Another option is the Regular Tatula used for $60-70 and get the HD spool from Daiwa and drop that in. That works well on baits up to ~4oz (8" Hudds, R2S S Waver 200, Deps SS175, 9" Slammers). If the swimbait thing is not for you, moving a Cardiff or the upgraded Tatula is EASY/Fast.
  12. This thread is much better if you have Rage Against The Machine in the background drinking an heirloom coffee.
  13. Forgive my ignorance, but why is this an issue?
  14. T9, Park Wrenches and an old Ritchey Multi Tool... What do you ride?
  15. I'm going to give the Ebay $9 for 600 yards 10lb braid a shot this year. (I think it's the same as Kastking)
  16. All very personal. I'd start just learning the knots ( I hear walmart has cheap braid to use for practice). Then figuring out what you might need a leader for like JF said.
  17. If you don't get the Tatula we are going to have to get you committed.
  18. 1/2oz plus trailer is close to 3/4oz total. I didn't like it, but a lot of guys do.
  19. A new one could look like the "damaged" one within seconds of owning it. It also lends to credibility if the wife asks if you got a new rod... "No? look at the butt, it's old."
  20. A rig fishes "heavier" than a jig. Since you are dragging a Rig over everything you are not only pulling the mass of the Rig, but dealing with the friction/snags, associated with how you fish a Rig. A jig doesn't have the same sort of dynamics, they feel "lighter" I guess would be my description. So to clarify on a C-Rig, a 734 would be ok with whatever plastic craw/lizard/worm, a hook, a bead, a swivel and a MAX of 1/2oz sinker. Going a little heavier with the sinker, for me, would push into the 735's realm. I didn't like my 734 for jigs over 3/8 (PLUS whatever trailer). That's just me. I've owned a 734 Champ and have a 735 Fury
  21. 734 for up to 1/2oz (HARD limit) If you think about going over 1/2 or are in really heavy stuff with your rig, this might not have enough umph. 735 will work very comfortably with 1/2- 1oz weights.
  22. I've owned both, the T-Wing made me more attractive and smell like Drakar Noir. The Lews turned my car into a Daewoo... Both are fine, the Daiwa is the only one I still own.
  23. I've got 2 of the 73dv models. Great little units.
  24. I'm going to get a Delta model or two to try.
  25. I recall some Shimano rods with the same sort of range.
