  1. You could look for some of the Ambassadeur round reels. I have bought 4600's for less than $50 before. They don't have many bells and whistles but they are good solid reels. I own two 4600s and a 5600 and didn't pay more than $50 for any of them.
  2. Have you looked at Kumho's? I used to have them on my Chevelle and I really liked them. MY friend runs them on his Silverado racing truck and my mom has them on her Rendevous, they both have happy with them. I have heard they had similar tread to some Goodyears but are much cheaper.
  3. I entered day every day as well except for Thursdays and the weekends. I hopin for that boat. 8-)
  4. Too much according to friends and family. If I am spending a lot of time on the water I spend more money on tackle because I lose a lot of lures when I am fishing. If I am not fishng a lot I don't buy as much. I would say at least $50/a month.
  5. Read these threads: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1214781306 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1214781306 Those should give you an idea of some plastics and crankbaits to start with. Add some spinnerbaits, topwaters (buzzbaits, spooks, jitterbugs, poppers), some jigs (black & blue, watermelon, etc.) in 1/4 and 3/8 oz., some trailers (zoom super chunks, paca chunks, etc) to match jig color. For terminal tackle I would get some 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0 EWG worm hooks (I like Gamakatsu) and some 1/8 1/4 and 3/8 oz bullet weights. I also always keep a tape measure, small pair of scissors (mine are Rapalas), fingenail clippers, and pliers (I have the Gerber anglers mult-tool) in my tackle box. I probably left some stuff out but this is start. If you are looking for a tackle box I recomend the Plano 1350 satchel. It is the one I carry when beating the banks.
  6. Is the Pro Qualifier much better than the Extreme? Right now the PQ is on sale and is the same price as the Extreme. I am assuming the PQ is the better reel but I don't hear about them as much as I do the Extremes. I am looking at the UL models.
  7. Bluegills are one of the best tasting fish IMO. Right up there with walleye/sauger. My friends and I have grilled them whole minus the scales and guts. We were camping and there was booze involved but from what I remebmer they tasted really good.
  8. My friend fishes a UL Lightning rod and it is his favorite rod. I have a 6'6" ML St. Croix triumph that I really like. I use this rod as my panfish/bluegill rod as well as some finesse bass fishing. My triumph sees more water than most of my other rods combined. I am thinking of buying an UL lightning rod to keep in my truck. IMO you won't be dissipointed either way.
  9. I only own one, it's an Advantage. I really like it though.
  10. Shimano - Abu Garcia - Daiwa - Quantum - Penn
  11. some of my best fishing has been before a rain or during the rain. Go for it and have fun.
  12. Western KY here.

A normal citizen in Mexico is limited to owning five guns?
  14. Check out the reel mechanics web site or consult the instruction manuals that came with the reels. I think for basic maintenance you can leave the line on.
  15. I would get a 6'6" MH casting rod and a 6'6" M spinning rod. Get the best that you can afford. I personally like loomis rods but st croixs are nice too.
  16. I have used vertical jigging on KY lake in the past. Get some 1oz lead ball head jigs and some plastic shad bodies ( i like chartreuse wih some sparkle). Put the shad bodies on the jig head and then attach a stinger treble hook to the jig hook. Put a minnow on the stinger hook. Just drop this off the side of the boat and bounce it off the bottom. I used a 7' MH bc and 12# line. I was fishing for sauger but that is pretty close to a walleye, although we caught a share of drums to.
  17. I have a Calcutta and some curados and would never dream (at this point) of taking those apart to repair/upgrade them. I figured the 5600 would be a better starting point, but my no means a walk in the park. Plus my dad used to own a bait shop and repair reels for a living so some help isn't too far away if needed.
  18. There seems to be a trend here. you + no clothes @ the lake My most emerassing moment is when I was bluegill fishing with my buddy and I hooked inot a nice LM on my UL. I proceeded to lose that fish in front of a group of guys fishing in a bass tournament. Then there is the countless times I have sent lures flying into the surrounding foilage trying to show off my ability to cast with my BC.
  19. That's awesome. I recognize that place. That's the Arby's/gas station in Draffenville, KY. I can now say I bought gas at the same pump as KVD.
  20. I am 22 but one of my friends swears I am an old man. All I want to do when i am not at work or school is fish, plus he seems to think I act like Hank Hill.
  21. All the rods I fish regualrly are 6'6" rods or shorter. I fish from the bank and find the shorter rods are easier to maneuver. When I get a boat I will begin switching over to 7' rods to get the extra casting distacne.
  22. Nice reels, that Big Bait Special is AWESOME. I have bever seen one of those before, wouldn't mind getting my hands on one.
  23. Check out the reel mechanics site, he is a member and one of the sponsors. As far as parts go smoohdrag.com sells bearings and drag washers. castaway lakes sells some parts too, but I think they are mostly for ambaassadeurs. I have decided to start modding one of my reels, a 5600 C4, and I am replacing the drag washers, bearings, and putting a new handle on it. Good luck, I know I am going to need it.
  24. Sounds like a swee set up. I have the 2500 also, but mine is a few years old, it is my favorite reel. The rod sounds sweet too. I have used the Gamma line and would highly recommend it. Good luck and enjoy your new rig!

I only own one LC and it is a Sammy 128 (i think) in a shad pattern.
