  1. I only have one LTA Helium in my collection of IMX, GLX, Airrus, Seeker, Rogue, Powell, Okuma and Shimano......this is the rod ( and reel ) which I can cast the smaller and lighter lures....by using this set, 2/3 of my spinning tackle became obsoleted.
  2. This is perfect for the Ika
  3. Sufix braid 50 lbs floats. I use braid and a 7.0 heavy rod for any kind of frogs, in my waters is a must. Congrats Avid in your 6000 posts
  4. I also use braid for pitching soft plastics, Sufix 50 on a TD-Z 105 and a BCR 844.
  5. Agree, I started using it last year, changed all my braid reel from Power Pro to Sufix.
  6. That is exactly what I do.
  7. I've never fished with the BCR803 but I have the MBR 783 and 844. I think the 844 will cover more applications and scenarios but most of my waters are packed with dense cover. Let us know what you decide.
  8. is there any minor things I could try and do? does this sound like a ssand in the reel issue? the way it just stops in mid cast... I'm thinking it is a baitcaster. I would take the spool out, clean every thing you can reach and oil it ( not with WD 40 ). See what happens. Otherwise like RM said.

Inside gears. Shimano grease. Ball bearings. TG Rocket Yellow. Drag washers. Shimano Drag Grease. Everything else. Shimano or Daiwa TD-Z oil.
  10. I think is clear, simple and well written. Agree with RW, there are more than 10 times where the word " action " is use instead of " power ".
  11. I like them a lot too, it is rarely that I fish without one already rigged. In my waters the size # 8 is by far more productive. My best color are Hot Steel and White
  12. There is no such thing. The higher the quality you buy the easier your experience will be and less likely you will get frustrated - Agree 100 %
  13. For your information, the Okuma BB 7.6 MH has a 12" handle I own 2 of them. The 7.6H and 7.11 have a 15", I used to own one and I didn't like it for that reason.
  14. I think Okuma is the best rod for the money. I don't like the 7.11 series b/c for me the handle is too long, I think the 7.6 are superb. I have fished with the Shimano Crucial E-H, it is a good rod but heavy and the tip is too stiff for my taste. Powell Max 7.11 is a super rod, specially for the bigger lures. http://tackletour.com/reviewpowellsb711h.html. For reel any low profile with high capacity, like Daiwa TD-Z Big Bait or Curado 300 or a round reel in a 300-400 size. Shimanos Calcutta, Cardiff,Corvalus or Daiwa Luna or Millionaire, Abu Ambassador or Quantum Cabo. This is what I use. Okuma 7.6 MH with Daiwa TD-Z BB for up to 4 oz ( About $ 450.00 retail ) Powell Max SB 711 H with Cardiff 301 for > 5 oz ( About $ 300 ). Best luck
  15. Like ReelMech said. RW is a respectable member of this Forum and the word " discrimination " is completely out of place. You are at the end the one asking for advice...he gave to you and I agree with him.
  16. ReelMech, a couple of my custom rods came with a hole drilled at the trigger as a hook keeper, I have done it in a couple of my chepo rods with so far no harm but I'm afraid to do it on a good one, what is your opinion ?
  17. No red dye in my reels either
  18. Are you thinking " Curado " ? ;D ;D ;D
