  1. BBQ'd they're edible but greasy. Put enough good BBQ sauce on about anything and it becomes edible though. Mainly you have to worry about stumbling across one of the ones that has an attitude. I got chased down the bank by a great big one once while I was night fishing. Stumbled on one that had found a fresh dead carp on the bank and I guess he thought I wanted to share. I still have scars on the inside of my thigh from trying to dive over a briar patch to get away from that growling, gnashing beast.
  2. I've got a Sportsman 120 PDL. I've been very happy with. It's very stable and handles rough water way better than my last kayak. I've paddled it a little bit along with the peddles and it paddles pretty easily. I'm significantly smaller but I bring a lot of gear also and have never felt overloaded in the least bit.
  3. My Tatula 300 finally made it here. Picked a bad day though, showing up with 3 other boxes of fishing tackle ?
  4. Everyone raves about the spawn, but prespawn is where it's at. Heck I'd rather fish the winter/coldwater period than the actual spawn.
  5. Had an owl swoop my Jitterbug while I was nightfishing once. Made a huge splash and was a heck of fight for a minute or two.
  6. One of the little lakes I fish occasionally can be unfishable for a couple months in the spring until the summer heat burns off the Eurasian milfoil. The worse change the weeds has made is the 2 lakes I fish that the state has decided to start poisoning the weeds during the heat of the summer. It's almost completely killed one of the lakes that use to be a really good little bass lake. The other is big enough and deep enough that it didn't have quite as much vegetation and enough space to deal with the dying weeds, but the unforeseen consequence was the algae blooms that have followed now that the weeds are gone and algae is the only vegetation left and nothing is there to filter any of it out. The green slime on the surface is so thick at times it looks like solid land.
  7. Big body, little head. She'll be big some day if she stops eating fake stuff.
  8. Another plopper from last Wednesday. A local guy in a FB group I'm in messaged me that he'd lost a custom made balsa crank at the lake by my house. Sent me a picture and the general area that he'd lost it. Took less than 5 minutes after work this morning.
  9. I have stackable pull open plastic bins in my garage from Walmart that come in sets of 3 drawers that I keep plastics in. I just keep them in drawers by similar style of bait and grab what I need as I need it. It's especially effective for my kayak fishing. I tried to make bags of my go to baits, but then before I go I'm not positive if I have a couple certain things so I toss them loosely into my kayak box. Then a few weeks later when I clean out my box and find 3 of the exact same thing of a few different baits, I realized I needed a different system.
  10. Wanted to like this bait, but after lots of hours and only 2 tiny bass to it's credit, gave up on it. Looks pretty, the results were just not at all what I'd hoped for.
  11. Just wait until ICAST, and Black Friday. You make it through those without buying anything, I'll be seriously impressed.
  12. 6th Sense Provoke 106 is one of my favorites, although I have to change the hooks. Whoever thought an EWG treble on a jerkbait was a good idea needs a swift kick. The Headhunter is another I really like. It's a 110 style bait that I've caught a ton of fish with the last couple years. They just came out with a 110 +2 style also which is hard to find in an inexpensive bait.
  13. Nah, there's a billion little sunfish in there to use for bait first.
  14. You have to push the jaw up. The diameter of the fish has nothing to do with IDing them. It's a largemouth without a doubt. Once you've seen a bunch they really don't look very similar. NorcalBassins little topwater fish is a spot for example.
  15. Daiwa, the Tatula LT in the spinning lineup and the Tatula TWS SV in the casting. I have several other reels of theirs and I've been very happy with all of them. I was a big Shimano fan until I tried my first SV Daiwa, that was the day I started selling my Shimanos.
  16. Agreed. I understand a catch and release only season during the spawn for any kind of fish, but a closed season is ridiculous. @MN Fisher can't you guys even get in trouble for taking time to take pictures if you "accidentally" catch a big bass? I caught a 6lber on a 2" grub legit fishing for crappie once but by the game regulations up there you have to immediately release them correct?
  17. Mine should be here in the next day or two. It's been lost in that horrible "Your package is in transit to the next facility, but will be arriving late", land for the last week until it finally turned up at the local hub yesterday. Just hope it's still in one piece when it gets here.
  18. Last time my wife bought a car, I went to bed at 10am after working all night and she owned one car, woke up at 6pm to get ready for work and she owned a new car. I didn't even know she was looking cars ?‍♂️
  19. Love the Bullet Pop, almost all the Berkely lineup really. Caught a ton of fish on the Bone Bullet Pop last summer though. They actually stock them at Walmart here. I think Bone might be the only color they carry but if you're really hurting for one, you might check there.
  20. Man we're spoiled. 2 weeks to get our shiny new fishing goodies and losing our minds? I just picked up my 2 handmade balsa cranks from a local builder tonight that I've been on the waiting list for 6 months to get ? If you need something right now then hop on Ebay and you can probably get it at your door in a couple days, you'll just have to pay a couple extra bucks in shipping instead of getting free shipping from TW.
  21. I don't have that issue with mine but I think it's the slow sink and not the super slow sink so that could be why.
  22. Mine is one I make that I call Grasshopper. It's dark brown, mixed with amber barbed wire, with chartreuse barbed wire and orange barbed wire accents.
  23. EVA for me. Don't know if anyone else has the issue but cork pulls the moisture out of my hands and is very uncomfortable to fish with. It gets to the point my hands will become chapped and start cracking and bleeding.
