  1. The 80X has a really wide wobble, the BMB is more of a subtle bait. As for the price, from their website; Black Market Series: $50.00 per bait for the Black Market Balsa. sizes available small (b1), medium (b2) and large (b3).
  2. Pumpback/Chimney Rock is suppose to have some giants. I've seen pictures of big ones that allegedly came from there. Never fished it so can't say so for certain but it seems to have the makeup of a smallmouth lake.
  3. It would probably be worth having a fisheries biologist come evaluate your lake to see what needs to be done, if anything at all. It's very easy to throw off the balance in a small body of water like that trying to throw stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
  4. I've done it with kids and beginners a few times and it does work surprisingly well. One of these days I'm putting a Ned rig under a bobber and wearing them out with it.
  5. There's usually some vegetation and last time I was there it had a ton of pads but being that it's a water source lake, not sure if they may have treated them or not. It usually has a little bit of grass in some places though and the south side of the road has a lot more if you can access that with a kayak.
  6. Zillion SV TWS Once I fished one I sold all my Shimanos and made the switch to Daiwa.
  7. IMO, a low-profile casting reel isn't a good option for catfish and carp. Carp are better targeted with spinning gear for the most part and catfish I want an option on the reel that disengages the spool to allow the fish to pull line like can be found on baitfeeder spinning reels or casting reels with a bait clicker option. Can it work? Sure, just a lot better options.
  8. I had to buy another jerkbait box thanks to that site ? Maybe a little bit due to my lack of self control when I start looking at shiny jerkbaits too, but I doubt it.
  9. Black Market Balsa/Dave's Customs. Only thing that comes through a tree better is a squirrel. Being that you're likely dealing with potential toothy fish too though, they may be more than you want to spend on a bait. By far the largest bass I've caught on a crankbait this year fell for a chartreuse black back one I was cranking laydowns in a river with about a month ago.
  10. The flatheads here tend to have whiskers that are almost black so I don't think that's a great indicator, but I'd be the farm on it being a bullhead just off what I listed.
  11. It's a bullhead, 100% no doubt. Rounded tail, rounded head, overbite, all add up to equal a bullhead. Flatheads have a rounded tail, flat head (duh), and an underbite. Flatheads that size almost always have a mottled coloration too.
  12. I've landed bass up to 5 pounds on it without any issues
  13. For sure a bullhead, what kind is hard to tell but no doubt it's a bullhead. Don't feel bad though, I did the same thing when I was a teen. I caught a massive bullhead that was an ounce shy of 8 pounds while I was fishing for flatheads. It was mottled colored and had the rounded tail but big rounded head and overbite, I just thought it was a small, deformed flathead. I realized years later I'd likely caught and released the world record brown bullhead without knowing it. I don't think I even took a picture because 8lbs is a baby flathead (back when I used the disposable cameras so I didn't want to waste a picture on a little fish).
  14. Last time I was there, they were really chewing a white one with copper blades. That bait was catching probably 5 to 1 more than a bait with silver or gold blades and all of our keepers.
  15. You'll be much better off with a kayak, bank fishing is very limited. Lots of heavy cover so don't bother bringing the finesse gear. I've done best with plastics and squarebills.
  16. I've had a blue one on one of my jerkbait rods for about a year now. It'll sling a jerkbait a long ways and handled some nice fish for me. I actually use the "teeth" as a hook holder because my jerkbait rod has the stupid hook holder behind the reel, which I hate, so I hook it on the reel instead.
  17. I wasn't a fan of the Rover. Just bite the bullet and get a Repoman ? I hate how good those things work.
  18. 3700 boxes and the tried and true shake them until they untangle method.
  19. It's either a Gary Yamamoto grub, or a Bass Pro Swizzle Stick would be my 2 guesses.
  20. The wind has been nonstop here lately too. Have to make sure everything is strapped down before any kind of run and even then I wasn't sure today as much as I was bouncing around.
  21. I think Lake was trying to see if he could catch one of everything in the lake Sunday ? He came close if he was, don't know where he gets it.
  22. I was also a fan of the old 200Bs and fished them a lot up until earlier this year. They were still going good, but the issue is that parts aren't going to be around forever for them, so I decided to make the switch before mine started to break down. The 100 Tatula is one of the reels I've picked up, but the 150 Tatula is much closer in size to the 200B Curados and I like that about it a lot. Both are much smoother casting, but I'm still kind of undecided about the zero adjuster on the 100. You can get either for right around $100 if you look around, or really treat yourself and step up to the Tatula SV TWS. There's been a lot of them gently used for around $120 popping up lately. I'd be lying if I said I didn't snag a couple for myself recently.
  23. That date works for me.
  24. Maybe buffalo bill will come back and respond, but since he hasn't been on in over 10 years, I wouldn't get my hopes up. I've heard of soaking fish in Sprite or 7Up for an hour removes the fishy taste.
